[He looks up from checking up on the beans.]

Huh? Better like-- oh. Yeah, I'm good. I warmed up real quick. The sundaes weren't a bit help, turns out.

[But he nodded.]

Yup, Rosie n' I got a system goin'. If this is a hit, we add it to a kinda rotation, puttin' out different specials from around the world along with the regular pancakes, fruit n' yogurt and all that.

People'd bitch if we axed the pancakes, and I don't blame 'em. Rosie makes 'em real good. ...I'm on waffles.

Good. [She nodded, wondering again just who told him to eat ice cream in the first place!]

And these huevos rancheros are great. Reminds me of when my grandmother made them.

[She paused for another bite and continued after swallowing.]

So, you're going to be cooking regularly? What other recipes do you have planned?
topgun_textiles: [Hi. Please ask me before you take the icons I made. Common sense, right?] (Default)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2014-03-14 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
[He nodded.]

Hell yeah! As for plans, I was gonna grab some cook books and see what's up for future specials. I've been on almost every freakin' continent and I always ate after missions finished up, but I wanna find out how it's all made, y'know?

I'm thinkin' German next, or playin' it with somethin' I know and goin' Japanese.

...Miso, though. Natto's kinduva love-it-or-hate-it thing.

Miso... That's soup, right? I didn't realize it was served at breakfast. But what's natto?

And this reminds me I've still got to cook some Cajun things for you to try out sometime.
topgun_textiles: ([Shades] What's up?)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2014-03-14 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Miso's a seasoning. I forget how it's made... but natto's this fermented stuff. It's real sticky n' gloppy, which puts people off. The rest are put off by the smell.

Oh yeah, Cajun! I could give it a shot. That's peppers and onions at the base, right? Spicy aromatics?

I take it this natto stuff has a strong unappealing smell then?

[And she nodded.] That's right. They're popular in many of the recipes. I wonder if I could come up with one that would be suitable for breakfast other than cornbread or biscuits. Maybe, something with grits...
topgun_textiles: (I guess that's okay.)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2014-03-14 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Like old cheese or dirty feet. Depends on the person. But it's fermented, man, what'd they expect?

[But he brightened up.]

Grits are awesome! I've had those!
vintage_magic: (tarnished 1 | Oh my!)

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2014-03-14 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Lily wrinkled her nose just trying to imagine the smell.] I doubt most folks would want to put something that smells like stinky feet into their mouth.

You have? [She's a little surprised and guessing.] After one of your missions? They're mostly popular in the southern part of America and I haven't seen them served much elsewhere.

[He nodded.]

Had an overnight mission. This place had a special on grits, so I wanted to try 'em out. They stirred in egg and man, it was tasty! I ain't too picky on texture.

There's lots of different ways to cook grits. With butter or cheese are most common for breakfast but some folks will even serve them with shrimp. I could share some of my recipes if you'd like.
topgun_textiles: (I guess that's okay.)

[personal profile] topgun_textiles 2014-03-15 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hell yeah! I inhaled the whole damn plate, but I can't get the hang of how they're cooked.

It's been a long time since I've made them, not since I've been here. But I could show you after I write out copies for you.
