Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on July 26th.

Were you and Sion close on your world? [He knew that they were very close here given some of the posts that were made as well as comments. They both also had the comfortable look that he and Sephiroth had when even just standing together.]

[He pondered the term to use for what had been between them, scratching his cheek with a finger.] Enemies, I suppose, but that's not entirely complicated enough for us. Our battlefield was not just physical.

We're friends back in Misaki City. [a pause] Actually, she's my brother's friend and I let her live in my mansion's basement. We just happened to both have the same thoughts and reactions regarding Nii-san. The friendship between us was relatively new when we arrived here.

And what do you mean by the battlefield not being just physical? You do not have a political presence.

[So that explains how they get along so easily. They also have a history together, though he is curious of her brother more.] So... you're dating your brother's friend, huh? What would he say?

[He goes very still.] He has tried to physically, mentally and emotionally destroy me on different occasions. He's almost succeeded in all three, but we fight on all three levels before we came here. We are also... um... genetically link with viral DNA.

[Akiha had never thought about how Shiki would take her relationship with Sion. Especially given her own feelings regarding him and the way he and Sion seemed when she first met the alchemist. In fact, because she had never contemplated it, Cloud will get a rare chance of seeing Akiha's face heat up with a blush. She then looked away and scoffed.]

Nii-san would probably say something perverted and then I'd have to kill him.

[The blush makes him raise an eyebrow, but he gets the picture very clearly and makes certain to remember this moment for possible teasing in the future.]

Ah ha... and no doubt you'd never live it down either. Don't sibling tease one another?

Yes, but Nii-san would eventually stop. Sion is far less forgiving than I am.

It is rather satisfying to watch him defend himself. [Without hurting Sion, but that's beside the point. Akiha half-believed Shiki was a masochist with as often as he says things he has to know will get him hit.]

And you don't know Nii-san. That will only serve to encourage him. Besides, that would be indecent and improper of me.

Yeah... you are a sibling if you take enjoyment out of that. [It's times like these he wishes he had a sibling to pick on. Hey, idea!] Since I'm an only child and your brother's not here, can I poke fun at you? Just to feel what it's like.

[Whoa, indecent and improper? Must be high class.] Right, right, you only do that behind closed doors and under the sanctity of marriage.

[There's something about Cloud's request that makes Akiha a bit uncomfortable. Not the teasing, but the implied sibling relationship. Because of her real feelings for Shiki. It made it...]

Fine. You can tease me, but expect to be teased back in kind. And don't... don't ever call me sister or anything like that.

[She looked away a moment before looking back.] At least behind closed doors with the public image of waiting for marriage.

[Well, he looks surprised she didn't just tell him off for his request. He actually didn't expect it to be accepted.]

I can't actually imagine you teasing me. Like I'd call you that... too formal. I'll find a suitable nickname instead.

[He squints at her.] Is there going to be a wedding in the future?

No. She and I have a forbidden relationship. It's not allowed where we are from, and I'm not old enough to defy that, despite being the head of my family.

If you're happy with someone, who cares who it is? [He never really sees much for the rules like that. Pointless and traditional.] You two could get married here if you planned on staying.

You don't understand. I have obligations and girls are supposed to grow out of this phase once they leave high school. There is a lot of my personal happiness I have to set aside for the sake of the family. That's how it is in Japan.

And even if we were to stay here, last I heard, it would still be illegal for her and I to marry. Besides... I'm seventeen. Marriage of any sort is a long way off for me. I'm not even engaged anymore. I broke that off a year ago.

Japan, huh? [He's been there on a few missions, but he doesn't know much about it beyond that. They make good swords though.] Sounds a lot like Wutai back home. Everything is about family and tradition; they were a proud people even after they were buried from war.

[He snorts softly at her words.] I suppose so. I hear Vegas marries people regardless. Might not be legal though. You broke off an engagement, huh? Why?

Because he was thirty years older than me and a disgusting man. My father arranged it when he was alive. When he was dead, I ended it.

The same thing any parent does when they arrange a marriage - strengthen the family.

That sounds like a bad match. The guy is old enough to be your father.

[He raises an eyebrow at her.]

You didn't make him cry like a little girl when you broke it off, did you?

If you looked at the assets of his family, it wouldn't be. Unless you took my personal happiness into consideration. But that isn't factored in when marriages are arranged.

I don't know if he cried. I simply told him we were no longer engaged and to remove himself and his family from my mansion by sundown.

Well, any family has better assets than mine, but I still stick by the personal happiness thing. I don't see why you can't make the family stronger and be happy.

Demon-family politics are different than human politics, especially when the strongest family are blood traitors. And before you ask about that, all you need to know is my father was a ruthless, despicable man that made sure the Tohno weren't challenge-able by the other families or the demon hunter families long before my formal training as heir began.

[She smirked.] I almost wish I'd seen that, but even that is beneath me.

[Demon families sound pretty ruthless, so he suppose that he's lucky he's meant the nice Tohno rather than the... insane or ruthless one.] So you get the joy of maintaining that unchallenge-able status, huh?

[He just shakes his head.] He would have been beneath you if you were higher on the stairs.

[Cloud is dead wrong if he thinks Akiha isn't ruthless. He just happens to be her friend.]

Exactly, but I was raised to do so. I can and I will. If I can manage the next three years, things will get easier.
