Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on July 26th.

Meister Ability Helpers

[Like finding a Weapon's ability, there is no magic miracle to this; just some good old-fashioned hard work will get you there.]

[Instead of Akiha standing with her arms crossed just waiting for someone to come over for instruction, she's sitting seiza style with her hands held out before her, palms up. Her eyes are closed and she's concentrating on her own wavelength, resonating with it and creating little crimson colored sparks that jump between her palms.

Every now and then, she opens her eyes to look around and see who may be around. Perhaps a display of Soul Menace training will bring a few meisters over. Maybe.]

[He might be a meister, but he doesn't need help with his ability since it's back to the one that he knows best. It's also one he has no control over, but he sees a familiar face and swaggers his way over between helping people beat one another up.]

How does it feel not to be a credit card anymore?

I'd rather not talk about that humiliating experience, Cloud. I'm a Meister with a strong partner, and that's what matters.

[No, she didn't look up or falter in her resonance. This was practically child's play for her anymore.]

About as humiliating as mine, no doubt. What good is a orb anyway? Sephiroth wouldn't even throw me at the enemy.

[He watches her a moment then snaps his fingers to create a spark of resonance with himself. He's getting good at pulling it off whenever he wants after all.]

I'd say we should battle using soul menace, but I don't think my shattered pride could take getting my ass kicked that bad. [He's trying to joke, but he's always been kind of bad at it.]

[Now she opens her eyes and gives him a smile. One of those ones that make it hard to tell if Akiha is actually smiling or contemplating eating your soul.]

I don't think it'd be fair, anyways. It's hard for me not to use my Soul Bite in conjunction with Soul Menace anymore.

[He's going to take that as a smile because it's easier than thinking she's going to come at him. In his mind, they are friends after all.]

When do people fight fair anyway? I like a challenge.

[Weirdly enough, they are friends. In that tolerable manner that means Akiha considers him a friend. Sort of.]

Ah, but how would it look to lose to a Meister a rank below you? Sephiroth would never let you live it down. Besides, you're better with a sword than hand-to-hand.

[Lily stops to observe for a moment, noting the sparks along Akiha's palms. She's a little wary, considering their last encounter as Weapons, and is thinking of walking away without saying anything when Akiha opens her eyes.]

I take it you've returned to normal.

[A glance up before Akiha focuses back on what she was doing.]

Let us forget that ever happened.

Just our last meeting? Or the whole being turned into a Weapon thing? I'm not sure if forgetting is best.

If I must only have one, I'd prefer the former over the latter.

Well, that conversation isn't something I especially wanted to remember either. [And then more quietly...] Although I wonder if you learned anything before you turned back...

I learned how much I dislike being a Weapon and that my partner makes an ineffective Meister.

[She fully looked up at Lily, releasing her self-resonance.] Did you have something more specific in mind?

[prosecutory]

[Out of curiosity, Edgeworth decides to pay his replacement a visit. Akiha isn't the only one creating sparks; coming from demolishing a dummy, Edgeworth's fingers crackle with remnants of electric blue energy that vanish completely by the time he reaches her. His saber is strapped safely to his side.]

Good morning, Miss Tohno. How are you faring as the new Meister Ability instructor?

[Eyes opening, Akiha scowls - though not at Edgeworth.]

I would be able to answer that if the Meisters of this place would actually train their abilities. It's pathetic. A Meister's ability is like a muscle - it only get stronger the more its used.

[prosecutory]

[Wow. Lazy bums.]

Some probably prefer to wait for their abilities to manifest. But it's better to learn now than to end up in battle hoping for a stroke of luck.

It's not even that. Plenty of the meisters know their abilities and do nothing with them save for the moment it occurs to them in battle to use it.

It sounds so childish to say, but practice makes perfect and without perfection, we're not going to win this war.

[prosecutory]

[He scowls with disapproval. Clearly it is not directed toward Akiha, either.]

I agree, but there is very little we can do if the Meisters insist on being uncooperative.

Not without coming across as arrogant.

[ Well, if you were using Soul Menace to try to get people to come over to you Akiha, it worked. Because that's where Chika was headed now, looking over Akiha as she meditated. At least until she saw the other girl looking over at her.

Chika let out a nervous smile, and waved over towards her. ]

Hey there. That's... that's Soul Menace, isn't it? I mean, what you were doing.

[ritsu_kouyou]

Yes.

[The sparks gathered into one hand and she put that palm to the ground. With a push of her wavelength, the ground cracked in a small radiant pattern with her hand as the epicenter.]

It's taken me a couple months to fully control.

[ Chika couldn't help but whistle at that. ]

Nice. I... well, I remember from when I knew someone who had it as their ability that it was really a pain to use. But considering what it does, that kinda makes sense.

Though... does Soul Menace work when you're resonating with a weapon, or just on your own?

[ritsu_kouyou]

I works even better when resonating with a weapon. It does change the fact that the meister is resonating with their own wavelength, but when working with a weapon, the meister's wavelength is bolstered - strengthened - by the support the weapon's wavelength provides.

Cool! So it's like the Meister resonates with the weapon, and then resonates with herself at the same time?

[ At least, that's what it sounded like to her anyway. Hopefully she wasn't completely wrong with what she was hearing. ]
