Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 27th.

[The weights whisk through the air past him on either side, and Light finds himself taken by just how easy everything seems with Hades at his back. A welcome change from constantly awaiting the other shoe to drop and bring progress to a grinding halt.

No fire is little matter, in other words.]

I look forward to discovering them. [comes the reply, his voice likewise dropping as if the two of them are sharing a dark secret amid the tempest of chain and weights.]

Just as I hope you look forward to receiving kishin souls.

Hoh~? [Hades sounds amused at the prospect.] Does that mean you wish to claim me for a hunt or two?

[The chain moves still lightly, awaiting Light's further command.]

[His eyes fall to the training dummy once more, deciding he needs a bit more proof before giving Hades his final answer. Vague promises of victory are tempting, and the ease Hades allows Light to wield him with is seductive. But the pressing question is - how damaging is he against enemies?

In hopes the god will allow impact this time, Light eases himself closer to place the target within striking distance of the chain's length before launching one of the weights at it at full velocity, fingers prepared to clasp and pull back.]

[This time there is no hesitance from Hades' side. The roughly fist-sized weight at the end the chain collides with the head of the practice dummy at full speed in a vertical downward angle. When it hits a couple of things happen at the same time.

The first is that the weight knocks the head cleanly off with barely any resistance as it continues to turn one shoulder into a shattered mess where it gets stuck. If Light wants he could now use this to draw the enemy closer to finish him off with the other end of the Meteor Hammer.

The second thing that happens is that Hades' passive Weapon ability gets unlocked long enough to unleash a jolting pulse of his wavelength over their close surroundings. It manifests in a small, invisible wave of a sensation that could probably be described as fear or pure terror - a psychological attack to match up with the Weapons deceptively high force.]

Well? [Hades sounds waiting and amused.] It is fascinating what simple cause and effect can do, is it not?

[The small shock of cold, black fear rippling through him is unexpected...it makes his eyes snap wide and mouth drop slightly agape, leaving him to forget about following up to destroy the dummy further.

He quickly recovers, however, and fixates on where the weight had lodged itself amid splintered wood and destroyed padding. More than he had expected.

...better than he'd expected.

A faint bubbling of laughter escapes him, airy and delirious like a man not entirely attached to his sanity. If only it were possible to trade out one god of death for another...Kira could have gone much further with Hades at his back than Ryuk back home.

The sound of mirth dies in his throat as his features fix themselves into a mask of seriousness. So much time wasted on the wrong people...]

Yes. [he says, a certain gravity now in his voice that suggests it is not only an answer to Hades' question, but on the still-open matter of their partnership] I think you and I will serve one another well.

[The quality of that brief laugh does not escape Hades' sharp senses that are currently honed in to match Light's wavelength as good as possible. Light... Truly, what a ironic name. It seems to be his destiny to strengthen those who are associated with the opposite of the unknown darkness that Hades himself is standing for.

It is probably wrong that for a fleeting moment, Hades finds that almost reassuring.]

'Serve'? [His voice is a careful mask of amused dissociation. Like this young man, it seems, Hades too does well hiding his true emotions to the outer world.] What an awful word to use. Neither you nor I have signed an agreement that binds us to each other nor do relations of power play a role in this.

I had meant it as a figure of speech.

[It took a vested effort not to let his features twitch into a scowl at what seemed to be turning into a tendency on the weapon's part to nitpick his every move.

The annoyance, however, was fleeting. It was foolish to believe a partnership would not come with it's unspoken agreement to tolerate annoyances, and Light had become quite adept at it throughout his career as a budding god.

And if he could entertain Misa and Ryuk, then there was no reason he could not also humor Hades.]

That aside, how soon could you be available to take a mission?

[Again a small toothy smile flashes up in response.]
