Characters: The Watch & OPEN to everyone
Location: Death City
Time: May 10th-13th
Rating: PG-13 for now
Warnings: Potential violence
Summary: The city is in chaos and the Watch is trying to do their job, but it's a little more than they can handle on their own.
The civilians have taken to the streets in a formal march of protest, holding signs both insulting and critical; some simply vulgar while others call for action- for change. They come from everywhere and don't stop until they reach Shibusen's stairs to rally with a growing mob of protesters. Shibusen agents gifted with Calming Wavelength stand by to allow attempts at mediation, but while they aren't violent, the protesters remain unyielding in their convictions.
In other parts of the city, trouble-makers work tirelessly to disrupt or sabotage businesses, paint graffiti over any untouched wall of known guest establishments, and harass the unusual-looking passerby. Don't go out alone, or you might find yourself cornered by these troublemakers with unpredictable temperaments.
The Watch is on the move in every district, working to protect its citizens and try their hand at peacemaking, but they're stretched pretty thin...

hope this is okay!
Suddenly, something happened. Audrey couldn't be sure what happened, exactly, but it worked in her favor. Suddenly she wasn't wincing in pain at her bad arm being continuously nudged and grabbed. Her attackers fell over, all at once, and a hole in the crowd appeared, a small, pale hand reaching right through it and grabbing her by the good arm, yanking her toward the hooded figure.
Her legs started moving again, her bad ankle trying hard to keep her up - and doing it, for the most part. She followed him through the crowd, ducking and weaving, until they stopped. She gasped a little for breath as she looked up into his face.
He was too pale to be local, with icy blue eyes and shocks of silver hair peeking out from under the hood when she looked close enough. "Thanks," she told him, taking a few deep breaths and trying to relax a little. "Out-of-towners have to stick together, huh?" A small chuckle coupled with a bright grin. Humor, one of her favorite defenses against Troubling things.
"Hey! What just happened!"
"You two get back here!"
Her eyes snapped open wide, and she started to move around him, turning her arm and grabbing his hand in hers instead. "Maybe we should keep moving!" Dwight wasn't there for her to resonate with or she could end this pretty quickly.
yep! :>
Chatting was nice and all, but apparently they hadn't gotten away entirely unnoticed and he was suddenly pulling him away. He just laughed, skipping for half a step until he caught up with her pace, hood falling away with the motion. Not much point in fixing it at this point either.
He could at least get them a bit of a head start, though. As they escaped the worst of the crowd into a smal clearing where a janitor was at work he reached out as they ran, catching the handle on the poor guy's bucket and spilling the dirty water across the floor behind them. He didn't stop to watch the effects, but the surprised yelp and the following thud from of at least one of the men chasing them was more than satisfying enough.

At least it's the regular kind of trouble? she thought. It felt strange, being optimistic. Audrey wasn't yet sure whether she liked it or not.
"I don't really like the term guest," she responded, gasping for breath as they dashed through the crowd. Right then, she heard the clatter and the yelping behind them, as though someone - or multiple someones - fell. She glanced back, over her shoulder, and her eyes widened at the sight of the small group of locals collapsed on the floor beside the janitor's overturned bucket. The boy who had helped her was wearing a grin that told her everything she needed to know.
A couple minutes later and they were in the grocery store. Audrey slowed to a stop and let go of his hand, panting to catch her breath.
She turned and looked at him. Another young guy, with the attitude to match, as shown by his antics. She nodded to him. "Thanks for helping me out back there. I'm Audrey."

He'd have offered his hand if they hadn't just been running through the mall hand in hand, so he just nodded right back. "Jack Frost. Nice to meet you, Audrey. Sorry it has to be through something like this."
This isn't 4th walling, right?
After another moment, her breath was caught and she smiled at him.
"Jack Frost?" she asked skeptically. "Like the expression? Jack Frost nipping at your nose...?" Audrey's head wags a little, side to side, as she says it in a sing-songey voice. She can't help it, it's ingrained - as she's sure it is into almost every other person's mind as well.
he practically lives for this kind of 4th walling :>
"The very same," he answers with an exaggerated bow and no small bit of pride. "Good to know my name's something of a universal constant."
awesome, yesssss
"Oh no, no, no, no, no." Her laughter faded quickly into a small chuckle. "I can deal with aliens. I can deal with time loops. Heck, I can deal with gray-skinned trolls with horns who used to be a spaceship." She gave Jack a look. "I don't know if I can believe that Jack Frost exists."
She started laughing all over again.
"I mean, really, what's next? Gonna tell me the Easter Bunny is hopping around here somewhere?" She was joking, obviously.

"It'd be nice if he was." And there's not a hint of a joke in that, just genuine exasperated frustration. "Seriously, everyone else seems to have a friend or two from home around here and I still can't even get the wind to answer me, let alone any of the others showing up."

"I- I'm sorry," she apologized, genuinely feeling badly for her previous statements.
Audrey knew well and good what it was like, to be stuck somewhere alone, not knowing a soul. It was about two weeks before Dwight joined her here. Even though they hadn't been particularly close in Haven, she couldn't imagine being without him in Death City.
She didn't believe him before, but she did now. Looking him right in the eye, Audrey smiled just a little. "Try to look at it this way: You have ample opportunity to make new friends here."
Audrey "Positive Side" Parker. It has a nice ring to it.

"No big deal," he said eventually, adopting a little smirk. "No one really wants a giant rabbit digging up holes all over the city. At least some of the people here have a decent sense of humor." Unlike a certain giant rabbit.
