Characters: The Watch & OPEN to everyone
Location: Death City
Time: May 10th-13th
Rating: PG-13 for now
Warnings: Potential violence
Summary: The city is in chaos and the Watch is trying to do their job, but it's a little more than they can handle on their own.
The civilians have taken to the streets in a formal march of protest, holding signs both insulting and critical; some simply vulgar while others call for action- for change. They come from everywhere and don't stop until they reach Shibusen's stairs to rally with a growing mob of protesters. Shibusen agents gifted with Calming Wavelength stand by to allow attempts at mediation, but while they aren't violent, the protesters remain unyielding in their convictions.
In other parts of the city, trouble-makers work tirelessly to disrupt or sabotage businesses, paint graffiti over any untouched wall of known guest establishments, and harass the unusual-looking passerby. Don't go out alone, or you might find yourself cornered by these troublemakers with unpredictable temperaments.
The Watch is on the move in every district, working to protect its citizens and try their hand at peacemaking, but they're stretched pretty thin...

Outer Residential Quarter One - OPEN
Psii had heard that often enough on Alternia that he winced instinctively at hearing it now. Could be no doubt he was target. Strange looks often drew from Death City residents had been increasingly hostile lately. Walked faster, shoulders hunching. Not fast enough. Heard footsteps behind him, and not looking back was mistake. Hardware was getting stronger, but a shove sent him sprawling.
He scrambled to get up as they walked around in front of him: two humans. Fall had torn hole in pants, bloodied his knee, and scraped skin off his palms.
"We're talking to you, freak."
"Ugh, yellow blood? Disgusting."
Had heard that too many times, too. "Can't help what look like."
They laughed at that. "You're so much of a weirdo you can't even talk right," one said.
If had powers, you'd wish you hadn't said that. Couldn't fight. Only option was to back away, as humans continued to taunt, and hope they'd let him go.
/slides in here
"You know, that seemed like kinda an unfair fight to me."
Meenah wasn't really the rescuing type. At all.
Which was why she told herself this wasn't a 'rescue' so much as an 'ass kicking in progress'. One she was going to turn the tide (haha!) of. Granted, her Weapon wasn't with her, but she doubted Ramza would really be all that alright with his Meister's intent to go and pick fights with whoever she saw acting up just so she could beat them down.
"These are much betta odds, don'tcha think?"
Her smile slid into a broad grin, pipe swinging up onto her shoulder.
/yessss, excellent
Had read Meenah's conversation with HL, and seeing her now gave Psii flash of remembered embarrassment on two levels: one at how had treated her, second at fact that HL now knew about all of that. Was irrational and irrelevant, but he couldn't help feeling it.
Immense relief at seeing her was much stronger.
Psii knew was hopeless in a physical fight. He'd been skinny his whole life, and awkward in hardware even before thought of body that way. Without psionics had always counted on before, was even worse.
Human obviously knew who made easier target, and stepped toward Psii. "Freaks with horns sticking together, huh?"
Distraction would give Meenah a chance to deal with this human, too, but Psii had to trust her, and had to decide right now. Backed up a step, met her eyes, his own wide, trying to will her to understand that she should take her chance. And he turned into Weapon form, mismatched goggles clattering to sidewalk.
38D
The menacing gesture was lost on Meenah, who only dropped her pipe with a too-loud clatter a little too close to his 'friend's' jaw, raising her eyebrows a little.
"Conchsiderin' we got the biggest conquerin' fleet in a whole lotta galaxies," well, 'had', but he didn't need to know that, "we kinda outnumber you by a lot, so if anymoby's a freak here, it's you, sucka."
She caught the other troll's movement out of the corner of her eye and blinked in surprise, but got the general idea, mouth pressing into a thin line before opening again with a short huff of laughter.
"Aww c'mon, you ain't reely that scared of lil' old me," the tip of the pipe was kicked upward, and Meenah swung it forward and released it directly at his head, "are ya?"
With the distraction provided by Psii's other attacker ducking to one side to avoid the spinning pipe, Meenah dove past, coming up with Psii's weapon form in one hand and turning to face their opponent again as she looked down into her hand.
What was it with trolls and glasses-type forms, honestly?
But she didn't have time to complain, and jammed the goggles into place, not quite sure what to think about the symbol in white across the nosepiece.
Alright, so what the shell can you do, anywave? Please tell me it's somefin explodey, cause if not, I'm gonna hafta try and get that pipe back.

Psii was dreading crunch of human's foot if plan (assuming deserved to be called that) failed. Fresh wave of relief when Meenah responded as perfectly as if had mapped it out in advance swept him along past dislike of her and into something like gratitude.
Good. Would make resonating easier.
Is very explodey, if works right.
Didn't have time to worry about what Meenah might see, with human righting self and wheeling around back to them, murder, or at least maiming, in his eyes; and didn't have practice filtering thoughts as much as might have (Psii didn't hold anything back from HL anymore). So he pushed his mental walls down, knowing she could rummage through data and see anything if she wanted, even sweeps as ship, even conflicted feelings for her. Even how he missed it and hated it and couldn't forgive himself for it.
None of that mattered as much as surviving.
Psii reached for power, the mental gesture well-practiced by now. Was almost easy to let it build until felt like old, familiar crackle of psychic energy. Thought would be enough to knock human over, at very least.
He let it go, sending toward target. Give it push with your mind. Stronger that way.

What might be important to Psii is the fact that her feelings about him- and his alternate- aren't as starkly categorized as most. Aranea is an obvious pale spot, Ramza as well, though less obviously and to a lesser degree, and shadowed with something distinctly hazy. Mituna and Psii are... well. Mituna himself is firmly entrenched in black, though there are odd little glitches here and there, sympathetic and apologetic in turn. Obvious that she doesn't know what to do about them but to just get angrier. Psii... well. Psii is just one big gray area and again just mired in questions and indecision and no small amount of irritation.
It damn well betta be.
She takes his advice, and it hits her, in a brief millisecond of understanding, that it's somewhat like using her thief powers in reverse. Expel instead of intake, but the basic theory was the same.
Oh, I sea...
The crackle is familiar- how many times before he broke had she heard the familiar snapping of ions that precluded one of Mituna's attacks? Too many to count, and she takes a deep breath and raises her hands at the human as he advances, the motion a mimicry of one she'd seen more times than she could remember.
"Last chance to run, yo."
Of course, there was no turning back by that point, and Meenah's hands turned, as if directing energies she had no real control over, hoping it was enough to dissuade the guy from continuing to fight, or- at the very least- enough to buy her time to find some other way to take him down.

His mind was still more like computer than the sprawl of impressions, emotions, and thoughts normal troll's would have been. But there were places where orderly structure broke down. Memories of being ship were huge, tangled, dark mess, knotted up with emotions concerning her. Thoughts and feelings about Meenah, very close to Empress in mental landscape, weren't any tidier, clot of dislike with shame and embarrassment running all through it, idea that things could be better if he'd tried harder, except... couldn't.
Might have expected her feelings about him to be similar, though without any sense she'd done anything wrong, but they were more complicated. Hadn't expected conflict could see in her feelings about his other self, either. Thought came to him in a flash: She doesn't like because make her feel unsure.
Psii could feel when Meenah's mind turned outward, almost as well as when HL did it. Strange. How could this work so well when they couldn't even have a civil conversation?
But was also easy to let energy snap out with gesture she made, crack of red that lit up that side of goggles and sent attacker stumbling, then crashing to sidewalk, knocked out. Thrill Psii got from their success was enough to drown out worries and doubts for now.

It's still irritating that he can't seem to separate how he feels about the Condesce from how he feels about her though. Irritating and insulting, if only because she's not her other self- and she's always prided herself in being her own troll above anything else.
That's why the strength of the blast surprises her, and she has to brace herself when she feels it fire, body going tense in preparation for any backlash. She's not expecting it to go so well, even when they're both obviously so unsure how to deal with each other. It's surprisingly easy, all things considered, and she almost breathes a sigh of relief when their attacker collapses. Almost, but not quite- she won't be relieved until she's sure no one else is coming at them. She turns to the other to see that he's long since passed out from the pain, hands positioned as if they'd been clutching his injured leg.
Oh well. Not like he hadn't deserved it.
Pretty shore we're done here, Captor.

Now that adrenalin rush of attack was over, Psii felt awkward again, and still confused about why had worked so well. Didn't like, or even understand, each other.
...Except they sort of did understand each other now. Better than before, anyway. Psii thought resonance would have failed entirely if truly simply disliked each other. But everything else would be easier if they did. Then could put Meenah back in directory with label Do Not Interact, and not have to think about this. Not have to feel anything about this, or her. Wasn't used to putting up selective firewalls in mind, but did his best to make one to shield this line of thought. They might have to fight again, and would need this strangely effective resonance if did.
Was on way to own hivestem. Casualty Communal. If you want to go there.

Which was true enough, to a degree- and why Meenah makes it a point to find and pick her length of pipe back up, slinging it over her shoulder. She starts back toward Casualty Communal regardless though, eyes scanning through the goggles with a slight degree of difficulty. She'll never understand how Captors can deal with the whole red and blue lenses thing- though she's sure Aranea would love to ramble to her about it. She only takes minor note of the sudden inability to see what he's thinking, and doesn't say anything about it, too immersed in making sure she's going the right way.
It would be a lot easier if she had maybe been paying a little more attention to the direction she was taking when she'd gone out crusading to kick ass earlier.
Do you live with the shades-but-not-shades kid or what? Gotta know where I'm droppin' you off.
Not to mention she's a little curious as to whether or not anyone else spends as much time laying around in their partner's hiveblocks as she does.

Knew that 'relatively' was operative word. Psii was still going to feel much better once was with own partner.
Is Aranea all right?
Seemed like one topic that would be unlikely to become awkward. Caring about AA was, in fact, one of the only things they had in common. Psii had wondered how AA could be friends (moirails?) with Meenah, and even though she'd told him, once, that Meenah was like part of her that was active and daring. He understood that better now, too.
