Characters: The Disciple and you!
Location: The Diner in the Outer Residential Area
Rating: G
Time: April 12th, afternoon
Description: Di is treating herself today, and would definitely be up for some company. She might have even invited your character to join her today.

Adjusting to life in Death City had taken a while, but Disciple would very quickly admit that she had come to love it here. It was such an odd little down with so much to offer, no matter how much she had seen of it there always seemed something new to discover. It was perhaps not the safest place to live, but safety was something that had never really been a part of her life. Indeed, until the recent attack on the city and Nocturne Bazaar, the way the war impacted this city had seemed to be nonexistant.

Still, all in all it was a place where she had enjoyable constants, could always find something new, had her family and new people to meet and new things and places to learn about. At the moment she couldn't really think of much more that she wanted.

Currently she was at the diner, seated at one of the tables outside so she could enjoy the weather. The sun no longer bothered her--and thank goodness it was nowhere near as strong as the one on Alternia had been--and she actually had to admit to liking the feel of it tickling her skin. On her table were, unsurprisingly some books on various subjects and she was currently scribbling away in a notebook of her own.

Tassadar was stalking his way down along the street while she was seated at the diner. His large frame was easy to spot out on the street, given that he typically stood a good four or five feet taller than the usual inhabitants of the city, but most of those living within Death City had grown used to the protoss walking among them.

The templar had seen and spoken with a number of the trolls during his time here within the city, but much like everything else, he often kept to himself. He had finished patrolling for the Watch for the time being, and had decided to find someplace quiet to meditate in until it was time to patrol again.

[personal profile] aiursfavoredson 2012-12-06 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
He hadn't been expecting the odd greeting, nor had he been expecting the silent gesture for him to approach. Slowing his pace down to a halt, the templar regarded the troll curiously before wordlessly making his way over.

The crowd parted for his much larger form easily, and as he approached, he noticed the odd tone she used to speak with. It was one he couldn't quite pin down, but wondered if it was perhaps simply the way she spoke.

"En Taro Adun," he greeted in reply.

[personal profile] aiursfavoredson 2012-12-14 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
The gesture wasn't missed, but Tassadar knew well that his large form wouldn't be able to fit around the table. That was one of the unfortunate aspects of being ten feet tall, as most of the items within the city, the world, were constructed with the average human height in mind. It didn't stop him, however, from turning to approach close enough to the table so that he could partly crouch down enough to peer over at the other.

How she knew what he was had him confused for the moment, before realising that she had perhaps run into Zeratul at an earlier point. Inclining his head, he greeted telepathically in return, "There is no shame in being curious, for it is what aids many races and species into advancing. It is an honour to meet you, Disciple."

That's okay :) I know the pain of that, but glad that you're back!

[personal profile] aiursfavoredson 2013-01-16 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
He tilted his head to one side at her reply. She held much enthusiasm, it was something that he ratherliked to see in others, before nodding at her assessment of the situation. "It is indeed quite the opportunity to learn of other species that exist in other planes of existence."

There was a chuckle in reply to her question. The sound wasn't mocking, but more good natured as he spoke, "It has been an interesting experience."

<333!

The question had him thinking, and the templar found his gaze shifting to regard the rest of the street. "Initially, perhaps the transformation of flesh into a physical weapon," he offered. While it wasn't unusual for his people to transform their bodies into something else, that usually required the power and sacrifice of two high templar with a process that was irreversible.

With a glance back towards the other, he returned the question. "And what of yourself?"

[personal profile] aiursfavoredson 2013-01-22 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Helpful? He supposed that was true in a sense, and from what he understood and had experienced from humans, it was an uncommon gesture. He had been lost in thought over the possibilities. "That is something else that I have noticed," Tassadar murmured in thought. "I have found that there are not many humans in my sector of space that treat others in such a way. Yet our circumstances often define us."

[personal profile] aiursfavoredson 2013-01-24 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"We call the humans bordering protoss space the terran. They are an interesting species, and while brutal and primitive in nature, I have also been witness to the virtues some maintain," Tassadar mentioned before falling momentarily quiet in thought at the question of his home. "My people came from the homeworld of Aiur."

[personal profile] aiursfavoredson 2013-01-29 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
While Aiur was never far from his mind, it had been quite some time since he'd last spoken to it to another outside of his people. Perhaps Aiur's fate was part of the reason he had found it so difficult, but as he answered, the templar showed no such signs of it on his near-expressionless expression.

"In comparison to this one," he murmured quietly in thought before answering, "It was a planet that was filled with vast jungles and oceans with vast cities and temples spanning towards the sky." As he spoke, Tassadar's glowing blue eyes seemed to flare the colour yellow as he allowed the image of his memories to bleed out into the area around them. Death City seemed to bleed away as it was instead replaced by the sound of running water as a lush environment seemed to appear. The water ran down over the waterfall, and off in the distance was the hint of a triangular temple through the afternoon fog.

Her words kept Tassadar silent as he watched the scene before him. His homeworld no longer looked as such with the zerg infection devouring all of Aiur herself, and it was a reminder of all they'd lost in their war against the zerg and the Overmind. It wasn't a fate that he showed those beyond his own sector of space, and one that he even kept from Kerrigan herself.

"We follow the path of the Khala, but we do not have beliefs in the same manner as the humans do," Tassadar offered as he maintained the illusion for a moment longer. Lowering his gaze, the lush world around them disappeared as he turned his attention back to the other. "While there are many different paths within my people's culture, their are only two main branches."

A stack of papers in one hand and a roll of tape in the other, Lily was spending the afternoon posting help wanted flyers for Yesterday’s Magic around town. Or she had been until she passed by the diner and stopped to stare at one of the patrons seated outside. Maybe, she shouldn’t have been so surprised after the gargoyle the other day but the remaining papers slipped from her hand, scattering across the ground.

“What in the Sam Hill?” she mumbled to herself. A goblin? Or a gnome maybe?

It wasn’t that unusual creatures like goblins, gnomes, and faeries didn’t exist in Lily’s world—as a witch, she knew they did even if most normal humans believed them to only be fairy tales.

It was that these types of creatures generally didn’t sit outside diners on sunny days with stacks of books and scribbling in notebooks, where they could be easily seen by normal humans!

How tall is Di? I just realized I don't know how troll heights are compared to humans...

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2012-12-08 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Lily, stop staring! It's not as if you've never seen strange creatures before.

"Um, thanks." She accepted the papers sheepishly, speaking in a Texas accented voice. "Pardon me but what are you? A goblin of some sort?"

Even though she had been in Death City for about three months, Lily hadn't seen any similar gray-skinned beings before now. She didn't look to be a gargoyle. Nor did she resemble Lily's familiar Oscar, who had a scaly greenish gray hide.

Ah, okay. Just about an inch shorter than Lily then!

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2012-12-16 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Um, yes, a vintage clothes shop." Lily moved the roll of tape to her other hand, along with the flyers, so she could shake hands.

"A troll? But I thought such beings lived far from humans..." Or that was what the folklore of her world said anyway. The witch had never met a troll before, either back home or here, but this one seemed well mannered. Looking more closely now, she found the creature was around her own height, considerably taller than any goblin she had ever met back home.

Back from hiatus. Sorry this is so overdue! We can handwave if it's been too long for you.

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2013-02-24 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
She tilted her head a bit at the laugh. Maybe, it was like how people stereotypically thought of witches as being ugly hags with green skin. "I take it that your kind doesn't resemble the trolls of human myth then?"

No humans? And it didn't sound as if it was just in the area where she lived. "There were no humans at all in your world? Where did you come from exactly?"

"Oh, and my name's Lily, by the way," she added, sheepishly realizing she hadn't introduced herself.

[OOC: Sorry about the long wait! I was getting into a slow period due to working on cosplay things around the time you got the new computer and was trying to prioritize more recent threads, then was on hiatus for a couple of weeks. I've been back a few days but have been slow to catch up since I'm still getting over a cold. It's been a long time so we can handwave if you'd prefer.]

"Nice to meet you, Disciple." An odd name. But then her grouchy psychic friend back in San Francisco only went by Sailor as far as she knew.

"What's this Alternia like?" It wasn't any planet that Lily had ever heard of. "And I come from Earth, well, not the one here. The geography seems about the same as this world but there's less weird stuff." It was a fib. "...Um, no demons running around and such." Actually, there were lots of supernatural things in Lily's world, they just tended to stay hidden from normal humans and only reveal themselves to paranormals like her.

vintage_magic: (frown)

I imagine Lily would be quite excited if asked!

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2013-03-11 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
And Lily frowned, too. "Troll blood isn't red, then? And there's discrimination based on blood types? That's awful!" She knew what it was like to be shunned because of something she had no control of, she hadn't chosen to be a witch yet the people of her hometown considered her a freak and avoided her because of her powers.

"But why should it matter so much? And it's not as if you can tell what someone's blood looks like just by looking at them." This world certainly didn't sound very friendly.

[OOC: I actually saw mention of the wedding thing in the last CR meme but didn't get around to commenting there. In the first book, Lily actually had a bride and her dozen bridesmaids come to the shop to all pick out vintage dresses for a wedding! She was kind of an outcast most of her life so she was excited just to be invited to that wedding. So, she'd probably be thrilled if asked to be a bridesmaid.]
