Morning Training

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on March 29th.

Weapons Handling Training: How to handle weapons and Weapons. Taught by Death the Kid with Liz and Patty.
Shooting Range: How to shoot. Taught by Naoto Shirogane, Maes Hughes.
Meister Ability Helpers: Learning what your meister ability is and how to use it. Taught by Kanji Tatsumi, Miles Edgeworth.
Finding a Partner: An area for unpartnered Weapons and Meisters to mingle in. Overseen by
Meditation: This month's novelty class is on focus and meditating. Taught by Hyuuga Neji.
Medics: A place for the medics to linger, recruit, and help anyone that's gotten hurt. Helping out are CR-S01, Rosalia Rossellini.
Watch: A place for the watch members to linger, recruit, and train. Interested observers welcome!

[The sudden pulling back of Takuto's wavelength is both a bit relieving (due to the intensity of it) and unpleasant, leaving an uncomfortable empty space. Yuugi is not unfamiliar with this kind of feeling. It reminds him of the way his other self had been after the fire in Otogi's game shop...

Drawing that parallel, he realizes immediately that Takuto is trying to hide something. It's not within him to pry about it but he can't help being concerned.]

'Takuto-kun, do you want to stop?'

N-no.

[Well, yes, he does, but not enough to actually stop. He can't give up so easily, but he's trying to fight back that lonely feeling and he knows that facing whatever emptiness is inside Yuugi is only going to make his own worse.

Maybe it's really too early for him to attempt resonance. Self-doubt erodes his already tattered wavelength, creating cracks along the wall meant to keep Yuugi out. Maybe... he still needs Aion....]

[The cracks in that wall are enough to give Yuugi an idea of what's happening behind it, especially since the same thing is happening within him as well.

He understands.

His own wavelength strengthens again, compensating for Takuto's. Once again, Yuugi doesn't fight and he doesn't overwhelm; the force of his wavelength is the kind of push that brings someone back to their feet rather than to their knees.]

'Takuto-kun, it's okay!'

[His own heart still aches so deeply... But he can't let that hold him back forever, and neither can the other boy.]

'I know it isn't easy, but... You're strong, I can tell!'

[He doesn't say it exactly but the meaning is clear enough: Takuto is strong on his own, even without his partner.]

[He doesn't see Yuugi's reaction coming. At all.

It's a bit of a jolt, the shock almost physical through their connection, but it's the kind of jolt that opens Takuto's eyes and makes his hand close even tighter around Yuugi's hilt.

The thing is, if they're going to do this... if they're really going to do this, they're going to have to do it together.]

So are you.

[The wall crumbles, and Takuto is shining again, the light from his soul enveloping Yuugi without fear or regret. Yes, there's a huge, gaping hole that was once filled by Aion, and yes, there is still something deep and dark that even Takuto doesn't shine light on, and there are likely lots of things he's going to have to explain to Yuugi later, but for now, this is enough. For now, this much of the dazzling yet vulnerable soul of the Galactic Pretty Boy will have to do.]

[This much of his soul is enough. When it sweeps over him again like a force of nature, Yuugi can't hide his awe. He braces himself once more, not trying to push the wave back but also not allowing himself to be completely swept away and lost within it.

While a part of his soul still longs fiercely for the connection with his other self, he's glad that they did this today. Takuto reminds him of Jounouchi; he has the same passion and refusal to be downtrodden. If he were in his normal form right now, Yuugi would give him a warm smile. Like the other boy, he still has many things that he won't reveal right away--but starting from this moment, he truly considers Takuto a friend.]

[Takuto is smiling at Yuugi.

Although he's admittedly not very good at sensing the soul of the person he's resonating with, he catches a whisper of Yuugi's longing for partnership. It's true that they both are searching for some missing other half....

But it really is too soon for Takuto to be thinking that. Still, it's with less pain from loss and more understanding of his own mindset that he sets that thought aside.

It's strange, really, to feel so bolstered by a weapon's wavelength, but there really is a kind of hidden strength in Yuugi that Takuto didn't truly see before. Maybe because it was surrounded by such an innocent warmth. Either way, Takuto can't but feel that bit by bit, he's slowly reclaiming his true radiance.

He hopes Yuugi can do the same.]

Someone once told me... when what you want to do and what you ought to do are one and the same, you can hear the voice of the world. [He breathes deeply for a moment, lifting his eyes from Yuugi and staring up at the sky.] I think I'd like you to hear it, too, sometime.

[Yuugi continues to be that support. Though he senses the subtleties (if the word 'subtle' could even be applied in this situation) of Takuto's wavelength quite a bit more easily than Takuto can sense his own, he remains quiet and unobtrusive, simply letting the feelings flow around him.

What you want to do and what you ought to do...

The words strike a chord in his heart, and though he doesn't know what Takuto means by 'the voice of the world', he finds himself wanting to understand this thing that has such meaning for the other boy.]

'I'd like to hear it, too!'

[What he wants to do and what he ought to do... Mostly, they are the same. There's still a part of him deep inside that shrinks with fear of the outcome of the task that he's been given in his world--especially right now, when separation from his other self is such a real thing--and he's not sure that part will ever disappear completely, but...]

[Takuto grins broadly, staring up and down the length of the blade in his hand.]

I'm sure you will, if it's what you want.

[When Takuto feels this strong, it's impossible to worry about outcomes. He can control the fate of the people he cares about, and of the entire world. It comes back to him like recollecting an old memory, his desire that was once the reason and purpose for his being in this world: Takuto is going to save the world. The thought resounds throughout his soul, becoming stronger with each echo and hopefully passing through to Yuugi as well.]

Let's practice! [There's something of a laugh in the shout, and he spins around, looking cheerfully for some kind of target. It looks like they might have to sneak into the weapons handling area to get at those dummies, but that isn't a problem!

He dashes off, his grip firm around Yuugi's hilt. He isn't going to get better or stronger by sitting around doing nothing, and he isn't going to be able to save the world if he issn't stronger.]

[Yuugi is nothing short of awestruck by the difference in Takuto's wavelength now as compared to a few short minutes earlier, when his soul seemed so full of cracks and ready to fall apart.

Takuto really is strong--incredibly strong! To pull himself up so quickly, and now he's practically shining with optimism. Yuugi feels it too, though the sudden swinging and running jars him back to earth somewhat.

He's still new to this 'weapon form' thing, remember?]

'O-okay!'

[Not that he thinks Takuto's going to drop him, but he wishes there was a way for him to... hang on or something. Still, the best way to get used to his new form is to practice, just as the other suggested, so he wants to do that!]

[Takuto skids to a stop in front of a rather large and vaguely humanoid practice dummy, lifting Yuugi high into the air and then suddenly taking a few quick steps forward because...

Yuugi is hard to balance, being much larger and heavier than what Takuto is used to. He puts another hand on the hilt to steady it for a moment, and then just passes Yuugi to the other hand entirely.

It's not as if he's any stronger with one or the other, of course. But with a grin and a flourish, Takuto aims Bakura's tip at the neck of the dummy, expecting to just get a small, neat slice across the throat. Instead, Yuugi thunks deep into the side of the neck.]

S-sorry! You're longer than I realized!

[Yuugi's first reaction at being swung towards a solid object is to flinch and shield his face with his arms, but that's very difficult to do while he's a sword... and has no arms. Much to his surprise (and relief), the actual contact is hardly noticeable, certainly not painful, even when Takuto's aim hits the dummy head-on instead of grazing it as he intended. It occurs to him that his weapon form is much sturdier than his own body, which makes a great deal of sense.]

'It's fine! Do you want to try again?'

[This latest realization sparks some curiosity. How strong is he in this form?]

Y-yes. [He's a little embarrassed by that mess-up, but he's bound to make mistakes when he's just learning how to wield Yuugi so he's glad that Yuugi doesn't seem to fazed by it.

He pulls the edge of the blade from the dummy, and then tries again, this time getting the tip slicing perfectly across the throat. His grin returns and he finishes the move with a spin and then a downward slice against the dummy's legs. This time he purposefully hits the leg squarely, pulling the hit's strength only slightly because he doesn't want to actually damage the dummy and he also doesn't want to be slamming Yuugi into everything at full strength.]

[It doesn't even occur to Yuugi to judge Takuto for that first mistake. He hadn't doubted the other boy's word when he claimed to be good with swords, and after Takuto's quick series of moves his faith is now very much justified. Yuugi is definitely impressed.]

'You weren't kidding before!' [It's going to be a while before he can be completely comfortable in his weapon form but he feels a good deal more at ease in Takuto's hands after seeing the evidence of his skill and realizing that it does not, in fact, hurt him to be smacked into things.

He can't help but be pleased and a bit excited as well, considering how well his form seems to suit Takuto's abilities.]

Kidding about what?

[He stops for a moment, frowning as he passes Yuugi to his other hand. But he's still wildly enthusiastic about wielding the weapon and he can tell that Yuugi is impressed with his... relatively average single-wielding skills. His response to that is to be more embarrassed than anything else, even though it does feel nice to have someone admire him like that.]

'When you said you were good with swords.' [Yuugi reminds him, trying to tone it down a little because he can sense some of Takuto's embarrassment and realizes it's his fault. Whoops. Time to move on!] 'Let's keep practicing, if you want?'
