Clint Barton | Weapon
He doesn't really expect many bites- doesn't hope for many, even- as this is all very sudden and kind of unofficial in the sense that he isn't sure he even wants a Meister at all. But he's been told in no uncertain terms that he has to give it a try if he wants to even think of himself as useful, so here he is in phase 1 of Operation: weed out potential.
Apply at your own risk]
if you don't mind him being bothered by another weapon? ;)
He strode up to him and stopped, all 16' of robot looming over him.]
Those are some nice toy you've got there.
not at all <3
Just another day as an agent of SHIELD. Now if only he had his explosive arrows, because if it attacked, he was basically fucked.
But Clint waved up at him from the ground, picked out the Weapon designation on stupid name tag from ten feet below, and started thinking about evasive maneuvers]
Yeah, I kind of overlooked giant metal robots, sorry.
<3!
It happens. [Now if only he could be so lucky to overlook all the miserable humans scurrying around this place.] You actually know how to use those, or are you just trying to show off?
no subject
But since this was a sixteen foot robot, Clint decided to forgive him. He probably had automatic targeting systems. Poor guy had probably just never seen real skill before]
I'm kind of amazing.
no subject
Kind of? You're selling your ego short now.
no subject
I know, but you can't blame a guy for being modest. The truth is, I'm seriously awesome.
no subject
[He could easily read it from here, but name tags were a huge waste of time and resources. Barricade was already scratching at his with one claw. The glue was going to mess up his paint job, and there were no car shops in this pitforsaken city.]
no subject
Clint Barton. [It's on the tag, so it's not like he could lie even if he had reason to] I won't laugh if you've just got serial numbers, promise.

Sorry... another weapon/stalker :|
Soon enough, she is walking across the field, easing between fighting pairs and side-stepping walking people. She merges in and out of the crowd before she appears in front of his sigh, green eyes flicking to each weapon.]
If only you were a meister, Mr. Barton, we could have spoken about things other than your impressive collection of weapons here. As it is, they impressive. [She points to a long-ranged rifle.] My preference. How are you in short-range?
lmao oh Sarah
[But he changes tracks pretty quickly, even if weapons are 'borrowed' from the weapons training division. He'll give them back, mostly because the ones he cares about aren't up to par] I can handle some close-range weapons and my hand-to-hand is pretty good, but neither's my specialty.
[Leaning forward, Clint props his chin on his hand and looks up at her, interested]
So, rifles?
She can't help it :| He offered with the sign
[She looks at the weapons on the ground, falling into a graceful crouch in front of them and picking up an arrow. She sets it up to peer down its length before fingering the piercing tip.] No, I suppose not. People tend to focus on one more than the other, it seems.
[She glances up and fixes him with a stare.]
The smell of gunpowder is a pleasant one. What long-ranged poison is your favourite, Mr. Barton?
welp
If you say so. Rifles are good, but the bow's silent, and arrows are way more versatile than you might think. 'Course I prolly won't get any explosive arrowheads here.
no subject
Bullets tend to do more damage. Arrows get stuck and are just a pain to remove. [She raises an eyebrow at the mention of exploding ones.] That's oh so silent, now isn't it? You could attach some explosives to the end and hope for the best.

'Good aim only...' Well, if that was the condition, then Obito felt he had the stuff to give it a try. Stepping up, Obito glanced at the array of weapons and smiles a little once he saw the throwing knives were present. He gave the man a nod.]
Uchiha Obito. Mind if I give it a try?
no subject
Show me what you got, kid.
no subject
Oh well. Gai would have said if there wasn't a challenge to it then it was hardly worth doing. Putting that cheesy smile out of his mind, Obito stepped up to the area that seemed to be a designated firing spot and focused. The extra push to help his aim didn't come like it normally did here. Odd, but it just reminded Obito all the more that he needed to gain a better understanding of his Meister ability. Hopefully, if he ever got a partner, it would become more clear.
Focus! Obito steeled himself and threw the first knife. Then the second, then the third. Each hitting a target slightly farther than the one he aimed for before. Each knife made its mark, though throwing knives could only travel so far. His first hit at fifteen feet, the second at twenty, and he pushed himself by making the third hit the thirty. If he tried to hit anything further with a knife he didn't know if he would have much luck, though with a Weapon partner the odds were a little different.
Turning back to Hawkeye Obito fought the urge to beam.]
How's that?
no subject
Depends. How's your practice with the bow coming?
no subject
Not bad, I don't think. Let me give it a try...
[Obito selected a bow that suited him and stepped back into the shooting range. He wasn't as confident with a bow as he was with knives, but he wasn't going to fail here either.
His first arrow hit the target, though not as close to the center as Obito would have liked. Nocking another arrow, Obito aimed for the same target, relaxed a bit more into the proper stance, and loosed the arrow. This time it hit the target dead center.
Obito smiled and moved to try the next furthest target. He hit four more targets in this same fashion, becoming more relaxed the more targets he made. The last and furthest target he aimed for was a little off for him again, but since he was still relatively new to the weapon he figured that wasn't so bad.
He turned back to Hawkeye awaiting approval or dismissal. He probably wasn't the best volunteer Hawkeye had. The targets he had aimed for this time were still only mid-range as far as archery practice went. He honestly didn't have a clue what to expect.]
no subject
You're picking this up fast. Alright then, one more little test, then I guess we can try this resonance thing.
[Clint stands and points out to a tree branch a bit more of a distance away to where a target hangs, swaying]
On missions, your targets aren't always gonna sit still and let you hit them. Don't worry, I'm not expecting a bullseye or anything; I just wanna see how you do. Think you're up to it?
no subject
Obito glanced over to where Hawkeye pointed and considered.]
I'll give it a shot.
[Without having to worry about making a bullseye the pressure was a bit off. Relaxing and trying to not think about the pressures that came with possible resonance, Obito returned to the proper stance and considered the target. He still aimed to take a bullseye, but even if he was off it wouldn't be the end of the world. He repeated the mantra in his head twice, then loosed the arrow.
He made the target, though it definitely wasn't a bullseye. Still, he grinned and scratched at his neck sheepishly.]
I'm actually better with living targets than things like this. Not sure why, but I think if there had been someone trying to move it manually, it would have hit dead center.
[He wasn't bragging, just making a statement. Obito still had no idea how to work his Meister ability but it had always came out in one-on-one spars. Advanced aim, or something else; Obito wasn't sure. Either way, he would have done better in an actual match against a sparring partner or Kishin.]
no subject
With some practice, you might almost get as good as me. [But although he was willing to give this a shot now, he wasn't quite sure how. Probably should've been one of things he asked Kurapika when he had the chance. Clint scratched the back of his head a second, still looking at the arrow on the last target]
Well I promised, but I have to say I'm not sure on this whole resonance thing. I just.. transform and you pick me up?

After perusing the selection, he picks up an arrow with both hands and peers down the shaft, from fletching to head. It was perfect. And impressive by his dated standards. The recurve bow to which is was married was simple but still sleek, and more importantly, it was the most familiar to him.]
So which one are you? [He inquires without shifting his attention. It wasn't hard to discern the purpose of the demonstration but as far as he knew, a weapon only had one basic form.]
no subject
The thing you're looking at right there. [He waves a dismissive hand at the rest of the weaponry lined up] Not everyone appreciates a good bow, though. Accuracy's important.
no subject
[This time Atem directs his reply to Clint. And he means it. The Hyksos introduced the recurve bow to Egypt only a couple hundred years before his time but it was quickly adopted for its power and efficiency. Discounting the magic dominated his world, it was his preferred weapon.]
Apparently a good bow never goes out of style although... [He picks it up, adjusting his hold on the grip until it feels comfortable. It's rather light which comes as a surprise. He runs his fingers over the string, testing the flexibility of the limbs but the tension doesn't appear to be lacking at all.]
It has come quite a long way.
