[OPEN] Mission 155
Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.
Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.
The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?
Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.
As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.
There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.
OOC NOTES.

[Sarah Kerrigan & Yuri Petrov || Medics Area || Closed.]
He paid the state of his clothes no mind, as there was little he could do about it. Yuri wasn't willing to dress himself in a hospital gown either, and figured that he'd buy himself a new suit after re-entering Death City. He couldn't let his father know of his injury, but that attempt would be for nothing if the bleeding wouldn't slow to a stop.
His feet moved quickly over the distance, the Judge entirely unaware that his movements were being tracked by yet another crazed creature, as he fixated his attention on the tent ahead of him. It would be awkward re-bandaging his wound himself, but it wasn't the first time he had either.
Although, if he were to be honest with himself, he was at least pleased that Barnaby and that fool of a partner of his hadn't joined them on this mission. The last thing he wanted was for them to see him in such a sorry state. He doubted that it would bring more of their attention on him, and definitely not for long if it did, but it was a problem he'd much rather do without.
no subject
She had begun a perimeter sweep when she had noticed him, but it was his ripped suit and red stains that attracted her attention. Yuri had been wounded? While she never considered herself a protective person (especially in war zones), she knew what it was like to die alone hoping for rescue. Perhaps she knew she wouldn't be saved, but Yuri was a non-combatant as Mike Liberty had been... she didn't want Yuri to die.
She eased into the bushes to watch his progress, seeing the grass nearby shift subtly as he was stalked. She quietly raised her weapon and set the sights on it, patiently waiting until the overgrown snake burst from the grass to target the Judge. A single shot rang out before the snake tumbled to the ground, twitching from the bullet that had gone through its eye into its brain.
Rising from her position, she began to stalk towards Yuri, eyes constantly on the move for another attacker. "I'll treat you, but that blood will attract every carnivore from here to the emitter," she said firmly, moving to usher him (almost protectively) into the medical tent.
no subject
Yuri didn't need to look to know who had taken such a shot, that was why he wasn't all that surprised when he caught sight of a familiar redhead emerging from the distance. He hadn't wanted anyone to see him in such a state, least of all anyone who knew him well enough, but there was little that he could do to prevent that now as she stalked towards him.
"I'm certain that you've got far more important matters to attend to," the Judge murmured before he stepped to the side so that he could turn and begin heading back to the tent again. Of course it had nothing to do with her ushering at all, as he'd been aiming to head there to begin with.
no subject
"You are important," she replied gruffly, swinging her rifle back over her shoulder to hang down her back within easy reach. She followed him into the tent, urging him to a nearby unoccupied bed before pulling the curtain for some privacy. She began to remove her gloves as she turned to him expectantly.
"Remove your jacket, shirt and tie. I want to see that wound your sporting," she ordered in a no-nonsense tone of voice. "What attacked you as well?"
no subject
Yuri heard her gruff reply, but he couldn't bring himself to answer it. He shouldn't have been important to anyone, and felt as though he should dissuade her from thinking such a foolish thing, but he felt that would dig his hole just that little bit deeper when it came to Kerrigan. So he simply remained quiet even as she followed him into the tent and forced him towards one of the unoccupied cots.
There was a pinch of pain on his expression as he turned to perch himself on the edge of it. Easing himself out of his bloodied jacket, Yuri had to take his time moving his body so that he could remove the tie wrapped around his neck. "It was a large feline creature."
no subject
She let him get his own clothes off, aware that he wouldn't be happy if she moved to assist him yet. No, she let his face pinch with pain as she searched through the medical supplies for what she thought she would need to deal with a 'large feline' injury, which was bites or scratches.
"Was it a bite or a scratch you sustained?" She pulled on medical gloves, aware enough of common medical procedures to be able to perform a few. If it was beyond her capabilities, she would call a doctor. "We'll treat it here if we can. You're bleeding significantly."
no subject
The bandages he'd put on earlier were already stained red again, which was why he had been returning to the tent in the first place. He more heard than saw Kerrigan rummaging around, and offered her a near-disinterested gaze when she returned to begin treating him.
"All I received was a swipe of its claws," Yuri muttered in return while saying nothing in regards to his bleeding. He felt fine, and knew that he'd be fine so long as he could get the bandages changed.
no subject
Falling to her knees in front of him, she slipped the scissors under the soiled bandages and began to cut them away. She eased them slowly and carefully off of his body, revealing the scratch marks that he had sustained. They were bleeding heavily, into the muscle layer, and she suspected dirty.
"Only way to stop the bleeding quickly is sutures," she said after dabbing the wide scratches with a cloth. "However, this is a dirty wound, so I'm going to have to put a drain in it, and you'll have to hot compress it twice or three times a day. Oh, and bandage changes every day," she added before rising and get the necessary supplies. "I'll see about getting you antibiotics so you don't fever."
no subject
Yuri did what he could to ignore the stinging pain from each of her dabbing attempts. With his gaze lingering on her kneeling form, he couldn't find any dismissive words or veiled scathing remarks to deter her from her work. There was a distinct lack of anything there to his surprise, which was why he remained sitting there silently while she did her job.
no subject
She first washed the wound out, hoping to remove any debris that might be there from the feline's claws. Then she dabbed it dry and applied a local anesthetic gel to numb the pain of the injury so that he wouldn't feel more than tugging when she sutured. After allowing it to take effect on his skin and wound, she began to suture his wounds close, slipping a latex tubing in to allow for drainage.
It took her considerable time and care to put him back together, but the work was neat and the bleeding was far less when she was finished. She smoothed her gloved hand over the many sutures before suddenly leaned up to kiss his lips affectionately. She didn't push the contact long before pulling away and removing her gloves.
"Sit still and I'll bandage it, and then you're free to be on your way," she murmured softly. She rose to get some new bandage material.
no subject
There were only a few moments throughout Kerrigan's work where he showed any visible signs of discomfort. Then, of course, the area was numbed and he felt nothing more than an odd pulling sensation. He was pulled out of his focused thoughts though where there were suddenly lips pressing against his. Eyes wide in surprise, he didn't pull away from the gesture, and only subtly returned it before Kerrigan was gone again.
"We won't need to speak of this again after this either," Yuri murmured, the first thing he'd spoken in quite some time, as she rose up to go and obtain the bandages.
no subject
"The kiss or the wounds I just saved your life from?" She pressed a large amount of padding to the sutures before wrapping his abdomen carefully but firmly. She didn't want the bandage to slip and clearly it couldn't be too thick or he'd be found out. Was that the problem?
no subject
"I believe that you already know the answer to that," Yuri murmured, but he didn't elaborate as she began to wrap the bandages around his midsection. It would be difficult to try and keep such information contained, but he'd have to do his best to do just that.
no subject
"My concern for your grievous injuries has blocked some of my female perception skills," she murmured innocently as she finished wrapping his abdomen and gave a playful pat to his bare chest. "Besides, it's been awhile since we were alone..." she drawled softly.
no subject
"And what are you expecting to entail?" Yuri asked as a slender brow rose up. He was still coated with blood down one side of his body beyond his bloodied hands and forearms, but he paid it little mind as the bandage remained snug around his midsection.
no subject
"Ah... you're so dense it hurts sometimes," she remarked before pushing herself to stand up. She left him to put away the supplies that she hadn't used. He was too injured for anything anyway, and she needed to find some antibiotics as well. "Would you like the honours of washing yourself, or do I get that honour?"
no subject
He didn't miss the fact that she'd left everything there for him to deal with. It was typical, really, but the Judge would do it without complaint. Yet as he moved to push himself up to stand, he winced slightly as the muscles around his wound twinged uncomfortably.
"I can take care of it myself," he muttered. Whether or not he could do it without causing a mess was uncertain, but the Judge at least would keep his self-respect.
no subject
When he attempted to rise, she noted the discomfort and reminded herself to get him some pain medication. He would never hide such wounds from anyone if he was hobbling around looking like that. His dignity and pride be damned in her mind, she approached and slipped her arms around his waist to support his weight.
"You don't appear like you can," she murmured into his ear. "I can clean you up, and you don't even need to ask. Though... I heard that animal attacks require a tetanus shot. Ever had one of those?"
no subject
It was then that arms were sliding around to support his body, and he turned his narrowed gaze over towards Kerrigan as she leant in closer. "Che," he sounded in displeasure when she'd murmured those words. Despite his reluctance, there seemed to be no resistance on Yuri's end as he glanced in the opposite direction of Kerrigan.
"Those in my city are rarely in need of one," Yuri said in return, even if he didn't answer her question.
no subject
"That's a boy," she murmured affectionately as she dropped a hand to grasp a damp cloth. She stepped to one side, still supporting him, but she began to wash away the signs of blood from his skin. His trousers needed a wash, and she already knew a way to get him out of them. She simply washed the blood away.
"Which means you should probably have one. It's just a precaution," she said before leaning up and whispering in his ear, "think of all the things I could do to you if your muscles freeze up, hmmm? Maybe it's better without the injection."
no subject
"They hadn't frozen in the past, so I would not want you to believe you can do such a thing," he muttered, the signs of his displeasure on the culprit. Yuri, in all honesty, didn't want to answer her stated question. All he knew that regardless of the answer, that all bets were off whenever she was involved. "I believe it's better to remain focused on the present rather than 'what ifs'."
no subject
"Well, the wound was dirty, so the injection is just prevention for the betterment of your health," she replied with an amused edge to her tone. They both knew that all bets were off if he couldn't move. Side-effects were actually death, but she'd never let it get that far. "So I should get you an injection to prevent any 'what if's, hmmm?"
no subject
"Why am I under the impression that you would enjoy it too much?" Yuri asked as he glanced over a her. He held no doubt that she'd gain large amounts of pleasure out of his displeasure.
no subject
"Too much? I don't think I could enjoy it too much," she replied with a smirk on her lips. "However, I would enjoy it. It's up to you. It's your health, though I couldn't imagine what your father would say if he found you so ill..." she let her words trail off into a significant silence.
no subject
There was a subtle grunt in reply to her smirk and the words. Yet his body froze at the mention of the possibility of his father discovering that he had been injured. That was something he didn't want to come out, and with a sharp gaze, he forced himself not to grit his teeth in displeasure. "Do whatever you wish."
