[OPEN] Mission 155

Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.

Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.

The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?

Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.

As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.

There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.

His tie slipped from his neck as he dumped it to one side of him. The shirt was the most difficult to remove despite its tattered appearance. His bloodied fingers moved slowly along the buttons while trying not to slip off of their smooth surface. Trying to shoulder the thin material off, Yuri gritted his teeth against the pain before he managed to rid himself of his ruined shirt.

The bandages he'd put on earlier were already stained red again, which was why he had been returning to the tent in the first place. He more heard than saw Kerrigan rummaging around, and offered her a near-disinterested gaze when she returned to begin treating him.

"All I received was a swipe of its claws," Yuri muttered in return while saying nothing in regards to his bleeding. He felt fine, and knew that he'd be fine so long as he could get the bandages changed.

She watched him struggle out of the corner of her eye, but she didn't move to assist unless he asked for her aid specifically. Once he was shirtless, she dropped some of the objects that she thought that she would need on a clean table next to the bed and grabbed a pair of bandage scissors.

Falling to her knees in front of him, she slipped the scissors under the soiled bandages and began to cut them away. She eased them slowly and carefully off of his body, revealing the scratch marks that he had sustained. They were bleeding heavily, into the muscle layer, and she suspected dirty.

"Only way to stop the bleeding quickly is sutures," she said after dabbing the wide scratches with a cloth. "However, this is a dirty wound, so I'm going to have to put a drain in it, and you'll have to hot compress it twice or three times a day. Oh, and bandage changes every day," she added before rising and get the necessary supplies. "I'll see about getting you antibiotics so you don't fever."

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
His pale green gaze flickered up to regard Kerrigan as she cut the bandages off. He'd done what he could in order to clean himself up and bandage his wound, but he knew that it hadn't been enough. That was why the blood had continued to seep through the wound. Yet the thought of having sutures was unpleasant, to say the least. Having to put a hot compress on his wound two or three times a day would make it difficult to hide his injury from his father, but he'd simply have to do what he could to avoid that.

Yuri did what he could to ignore the stinging pain from each of her dabbing attempts. With his gaze lingering on her kneeling form, he couldn't find any dismissive words or veiled scathing remarks to deter her from her work. There was a distinct lack of anything there to his surprise, which was why he remained sitting there silently while she did her job.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
She actually waited for stinging comments to try and deter her from helping, but none came from his lips. He was either in that much pain or he didn't have anything left in the tank that went beyond his need for politeness. She returned with all the necessary items and settled on her knees in front of him again.

She first washed the wound out, hoping to remove any debris that might be there from the feline's claws. Then she dabbed it dry and applied a local anesthetic gel to numb the pain of the injury so that he wouldn't feel more than tugging when she sutured. After allowing it to take effect on his skin and wound, she began to suture his wounds close, slipping a latex tubing in to allow for drainage.

It took her considerable time and care to put him back together, but the work was neat and the bleeding was far less when she was finished. She smoothed her gloved hand over the many sutures before suddenly leaned up to kiss his lips affectionately. She didn't push the contact long before pulling away and removing her gloves.

"Sit still and I'll bandage it, and then you're free to be on your way," she murmured softly. She rose to get some new bandage material.

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
He knew that he should have said something to put her off, but his lips remained pressed together while the words eluded him. Glancing down, he didn't watch as she walked off to get the few things she needed in order to deal with his wound. While he had accepted her offer the few weeks ago, Yuri hadn't allowed himself to truly think of anything beyond the surface level. So why was his mind attempting to do as such right now? The Judge couldn't answer that to himself, as he simply didn't want to. Instead he did what he could to push it right back to the furthest reaches of his mind.

There were only a few moments throughout Kerrigan's work where he showed any visible signs of discomfort. Then, of course, the area was numbed and he felt nothing more than an odd pulling sensation. He was pulled out of his focused thoughts though where there were suddenly lips pressing against his. Eyes wide in surprise, he didn't pull away from the gesture, and only subtly returned it before Kerrigan was gone again.

"We won't need to speak of this again after this either," Yuri murmured, the first thing he'd spoken in quite some time, as she rose up to go and obtain the bandages.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
His minimal response to the kiss was better than she usually managed to pull out of him, so she didn't complain as she gathered up some bandage material. She returned and settled down in front of him again before glancing up at his face at the words. She raised an eyebrow at his decision to not speak of it again.

"The kiss or the wounds I just saved your life from?" She pressed a large amount of padding to the sutures before wrapping his abdomen carefully but firmly. She didn't want the bandage to slip and clearly it couldn't be too thick or he'd be found out. Was that the problem?

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
His pale gaze followed her this time as she moved to obtain the bandages. He would have thought that she'd have known just what he wouldn't have wanted spoken of, with all things considered, but it appeared as though she wanted to play a game. He hardly thought that now was the time for such foolishness, but to each their own, he supposed.

"I believe that you already know the answer to that," Yuri murmured, but he didn't elaborate as she began to wrap the bandages around his midsection. It would be difficult to try and keep such information contained, but he'd have to do his best to do just that.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Sarah raised an eyebrow at his response, pleased that he was going to play her game rather than speak plainly. Clearly he enjoyed them as much as she did, and it had been awhile since she had managed to see him alone. Clearly she needed to track him a little more to keep him out of such trouble.

"My concern for your grievous injuries has blocked some of my female perception skills," she murmured innocently as she finished wrapping his abdomen and gave a playful pat to his bare chest. "Besides, it's been awhile since we were alone..." she drawled softly.

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
There was no doubt within him that she was simply playing this up. The innocent tone she used was easily seen through by him, and the look he gave her in return to such a display told her that much. If he read her reply right, however, it at least gave him the impression that she would keep such information away from others. It wouldn't do well for anyone else to discover his injuries beyond Kerrigan and Obito.

"And what are you expecting to entail?" Yuri asked as a slender brow rose up. He was still coated with blood down one side of his body beyond his bloodied hands and forearms, but he paid it little mind as the bandage remained snug around his midsection.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, it seemed that the game was up already when he refused to reply. He was always a stick-in-the-mud for such things, and she knew that he wouldn't play anymore. Clearly the blood loss had somehow made him more stuffy towards her, and even privacy wasn't going to warm him to her. Still, his secret was safe with her, as all of them were.

"Ah... you're so dense it hurts sometimes," she remarked before pushing herself to stand up. She left him to put away the supplies that she hadn't used. He was too injured for anything anyway, and she needed to find some antibiotics as well. "Would you like the honours of washing yourself, or do I get that honour?"

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yuri found his brows knitting together at her remark. He didn't say anything in return, but found the insult to be weighing heavily on his mind. The Judge liked to think that he was rather perceptive when it came to most things, and the thought that she'd call him dense didn't sit well with him. In fact, it was almost like slander, and had it been anyone else calling him as such, he wouldn't have hesitated in bestowing them with legal action.

He didn't miss the fact that she'd left everything there for him to deal with. It was typical, really, but the Judge would do it without complaint. Yet as he moved to push himself up to stand, he winced slightly as the muscles around his wound twinged uncomfortably.

"I can take care of it myself," he muttered. Whether or not he could do it without causing a mess was uncertain, but the Judge at least would keep his self-respect.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
She finished putting away all the items that she hadn't used and turned to regard Yuri. He clearly had nothing to say to her remark, which only made things appear that his denseness would continue. That was fine, as his moments of clairvoyance when it came to the affections of the opposite sex were few and far between. It was on his schedule unless she forced the issue, and now was not the time for forced action.

When he attempted to rise, she noted the discomfort and reminded herself to get him some pain medication. He would never hide such wounds from anyone if he was hobbling around looking like that. His dignity and pride be damned in her mind, she approached and slipped her arms around his waist to support his weight.

"You don't appear like you can," she murmured into his ear. "I can clean you up, and you don't even need to ask. Though... I heard that animal attacks require a tetanus shot. Ever had one of those?"

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The injuries just needed some time for him to readjust to before he'd regain his usual grace, or so he kept telling himself. Yuri inwardly berated himself for displaying such a weakness, not to Kerrigan, but to himself. It was nothing short of a disappointment in his mind, and he gritted his teeth in displeasure at the mere thought.

It was then that arms were sliding around to support his body, and he turned his narrowed gaze over towards Kerrigan as she leant in closer. "Che," he sounded in displeasure when she'd murmured those words. Despite his reluctance, there seemed to be no resistance on Yuri's end as he glanced in the opposite direction of Kerrigan.

"Those in my city are rarely in need of one," Yuri said in return, even if he didn't answer her question.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Sarah was well aware that he was shaming himself by not being able to jump back into action and acting normal. She knew better than to let his damaged pride risk his health, and her fingers stroked his skin just above the bandages that she had applied to his body. His glance was met with a pleasant smile on her part before she leaned up to purposefully press a kiss to his cheek.

"That's a boy," she murmured affectionately as she dropped a hand to grasp a damp cloth. She stepped to one side, still supporting him, but she began to wash away the signs of blood from his skin. His trousers needed a wash, and she already knew a way to get him out of them. She simply washed the blood away.

"Which means you should probably have one. It's just a precaution," she said before leaning up and whispering in his ear, "think of all the things I could do to you if your muscles freeze up, hmmm? Maybe it's better without the injection."

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It was unclear whether it was the kiss to his cheek or the words that caused a displeased frown to mar his features, but whichever the answer was, Yuri looked rather displeased. He managed to hold his tongue though, even if his body flinched in surprise at the feeling of the cool cloth against his warm skin.

"They hadn't frozen in the past, so I would not want you to believe you can do such a thing," he muttered, the signs of his displeasure on the culprit. Yuri, in all honesty, didn't want to answer her stated question. All he knew that regardless of the answer, that all bets were off whenever she was involved. "I believe it's better to remain focused on the present rather than 'what ifs'."

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
She couldn't help but be amused at his frown, a very common expression from him when she was involved. She suspected that he had plenty to say to her, but he was holding his tongue because he might live to regret whatever might happen. Plus, barking back at her tended to encourage her, almost as much as his sustained silence did.

"Well, the wound was dirty, so the injection is just prevention for the betterment of your health," she replied with an amused edge to her tone. They both knew that all bets were off if he couldn't move. Side-effects were actually death, but she'd never let it get that far. "So I should get you an injection to prevent any 'what if's, hmmm?"

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The cloth moved over his skin as she worked, and he did what he could in order to ignore just what was transpiring. There were moments were such things were difficult, but the Judge did what he could not to dwell on such things... it was a task that he found strangely easy to do when she continued to speak with her amused tone.

"Why am I under the impression that you would enjoy it too much?" Yuri asked as he glanced over a her. He held no doubt that she'd gain large amounts of pleasure out of his displeasure.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
She cleaned him up to the aspects that she could reach, having to change the cloth more than once given the mess that he had made. It allowed her a little more time with him, so she didn't complain about the activity or the length of time that it took. With his father settled in Yuri's apartment, she had stayed away and they had seen each other less because of it.

"Too much? I don't think I could enjoy it too much," she replied with a smirk on her lips. "However, I would enjoy it. It's up to you. It's your health, though I couldn't imagine what your father would say if he found you so ill..." she let her words trail off into a significant silence.

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-08-31 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
His mind remained partially focused on the cloth that worked its way over his flesh. His body was slowly having the blood removed from his skin, and he didn't miss the change in cloth each time it happened. Yuri hadn't dared to look down, knowing that he wouldn't like the sight, and so he simply allowed her to continue her work despite their conversation.

There was a subtle grunt in reply to her smirk and the words. Yet his body froze at the mention of the possibility of his father discovering that he had been injured. That was something he didn't want to come out, and with a sharp gaze, he forced himself not to grit his teeth in displeasure. "Do whatever you wish."

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-08-31 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Sarah chuckled softly at the sharp look that he threw her, and his immediate surrender made it obvious how much keeping such an injury quiet meant to him. She wondered why he was so desperate to hide things from that man when Yuri spent so much time tending to his father. He had so many secrets yet remained doting and almost obsessive about his duties.

"I knew you would agree eventually," she murmured as she finished cleaning him up and dropping the last cloth to the dirty water. Her arm slipped around his waist to hold him as she lay her cheek against his shoulder. "Why do you hide from him so much?"

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-09-01 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
The chuckle only seemed to receive a displeased look from the Judge, not that it was anything new on Kerrigan's end. There was some part of him that thought that she wouldn't stoop to such levels, but he didn't feel a need to try and push his luck.

Glancing away at her first murmur, he felt her shift against him as she finished her work before an arm came to slip around his waist. He didn't return the gesture at all, but the warmth did find his attention shifting back towards her at the press of her cheek to his shoulder. While he didn't return the hold, Kerrigan would have felt the muscles beneath her touch begin to relax as he murmured, "He has enough to concern himself with as it is."

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-09-01 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
His displeased look did nothing to take the pleasure from her words, and she felt the way that he subtly relaxed against her body. It was that small reaction that eased her as she nestled against his back and held up his weight so that he didn't have to. Her fingers caressed the skin above the bandage affectionately.

She waited for a moment, considering his answer from all angles before slowly nodding. "Is that what you tell yourself or do you actually believe that?"

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-09-01 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
It was subtle, but he glanced back over his shoulder to sight the top of her head hair. The every-present goggles were snuggly seated within the crimson tresses, and he found it somewhat relaxing to fixate his gaze on it even if this line of questioning was dangerous. Pulling his gaze away a moment later, he instead fixated his attention down to her caressing fingers.

"My father is a recovering alcoholic who has yet to truly overcome his addiction," Yuri simply said. He wasn't lying, in that aspect, but the Judge knew that he had also spent decades hiding everything to himself. The thought of allowing others to see such weakness, especially the man who'd sired him, was unsettling at best.

[personal profile] ghostofaqueen 2012-09-01 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
His skin was warm against her cheek, which meant that he hadn't lost too much blood. He would have to take things easy though, and she hoped that he wouldn't push himself too far, too fast either. Perhaps she should check on him more regularly while he was recovering so he could better hide the wounds.

"Has he shown signs of returning to that state," she asked quietly. She had seen alcoholics fighting personal demons, but most of the were products of war. She knew a little of why Yuri's father went that way though. "You would do well to use this opportunity to help yourself as well as him." She paused for a moment, her fingers stroking over his bandages. "Are you still sleeping on the couch for the time being?"

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-09-01 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Not yet, but he has yet to fully recover from his wounds. Having him return to society will be the true test to if he will or not," Yuri softly murmured. The fact that his father had been an alcoholic was why he avoided the substance, and there would never be a single drop found within his apartment. The thought of his father returning to such a destructive life didn't sit well with him, but he had to try and do everything he could to avoid such a thing.

He fell silent at her pointed comment. What help she was referring to was something he didn't want to admit to, and largely kept himself unaware of. That was why he said nothing abut it in return as her fingers stroked over his bandages. "I am. He will remain in my bed until he has fully recovered."
