[OPEN] Mission 155
Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.
Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.
The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?
Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.
As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.
There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.
OOC NOTES.

There was a small smile. "Yes you are right. I'm afraid that...I don't have much medical knowledge outside of what I was taught. I never been to a real battle field but I have heard stories about what doctors would do." And some other things reading from textbooks.
She raised an eyebrow once Yuri made a bow. Oh wow, she was not use to something like this. "Y-You don't need to bow like that, your name was enough!" Now Fuuka was flailing a bit.

He didn't excuse his actions, and it was a level of politeness the Judge would continue to maintain regardless of how many times they met. That was why he simply smiled pleasantly at her but said nothing about it. Instead he asked, "Were you just recently pulled here?"
no subject
"Recently pulled...oh, you mean when I first arrived? I believe it was 3 days ago?" Yes, she was pretty sure. She had seen that creepy moon at least 3 times...
no subject
"It is unfortunate that you weren't able to regain your breath before finding yourself thrown into a dangerous battle," Yuri sympathetically murmured. Yet he felt his muscles tense lightly when he sensed something amiss on the air.
[ooc: What animal would you like? Moles, snakes, beetles, or centipedes attacking the camp? :D ]
no subject
"It's okay, I'm use to this." If her battles against the shadows were anything.
While she doesn't know Yuri that well, she could tell that something was wrong. Even without Juno, Fuuka could tell that something was going to happen. She just wasn't sure what. She better get ready.
[ooc: Surprise me!]

He stumbled back as a giant beetle swiped with its sharp mandible. Yet when it realised it had missed its mark, the beetle's drooling mouth opened wide to emit a high-pitched screech as it pinned its compound eyes on the pair. The insect was easily twice their size, and without a doubt, looking to make a meal out of the pair.
no subject
As she looked around, there wasn't much. Instead, she found herself helpless. Quick, what can you do? "Petrov-san, are you a meister or a weapon?" She wasn't sure what she can do as an EMF meter but it was worth a shot.
no subject
Yuri pushed such thoughts from his mind when he heard Fuuka call out behind him. He couldn't bring himself to look at her, but instead he stepped protectively in front of them when it appeared the giant beetle was going to attack them.
"I cannot resonate with others," he said through gritted teeth. There was no chance that he could allow someone that close to him, not now, not ever. Especially not when his mind was attempting to pull him back down within them. That was something he couldn't risk.
Yet as he felt his blood beginning to pump, their enemy already lurching in to attack them again, the world around him seemed to shift and change as he could actually see the souls of those around him - including the beast in front of them now.
"There should be scalpels within the medic supplies," Yuri offered while refusing to turn and face her. "The path behind us is clear all the way to them, but that won't remain. I can already seè more coming."
no subject
She didn't mind that he wasn't looking at her, he needed to keep an eye on the creature. Still, she was panicking when it looked like it was going to attack.
"Ah..." So does that mean he's a weapon? Who knows but she quickly goes through the medical supplies somewhere. She didn't want to see Yuri die, no, not right in front of her. She has seen one death too many and if this was something she could do, so be it.
She rushed toward the back to look for all the scalpels she could find. The problem was finding which box it was in. With no time to waste, she dumped all the boxes until she found what she was looking for.
However, she does look back from time to time to see how Yuri was doing.
no subject
A scalpel was small, and it would be difficult, but the Judge believed that he had justice on his side and thus would never lose. That was the faith that had him subtly smirking at the creature when the beetle rushed towards him.
He kept Fuuka's progress in mind as he used sharp twists and turns to keep himself just out of reach of their enemy's sharp limbs. Yet when it appeared that Fuuka had found something, he ran to slide around the large beetle as he calmly called out, "This way."
no subject
With each turn and twist, Fuuka found herself panicking to find the scalpels as quickly as she could. Why was this taking longer than she thought? It wouldn't be this difficult to find a box of them!
Eventually, once she did, she heard his voice. "This...way?" With no other choice, she quickly went with him to avoid danger.
no subject
It was fortunate as well as it seemed that they'd gained the attention of another enemy.
When she was closer to him, Yuri gestured for her to keep following as he began running the opposite direction. "Did you find one?" Yuri asked while he ran, even if he had seen something within her hand.
no subject
Was this how Minato and the others felt whenever they were out fighting shadows? Usually, she sat on the sidelines and watched but she was never actively in the field. Now that she was, it was certainly a lot different. Yuri was still fighting but here she was, in the background once more.
"Be careful, don't try to get yourself hurt." Better said than done.
no subject
It screeched out a howl, which Yuri took as his indication to attack. Darting in, the Judge narrowly avoided the swipe of sharp limbs, Yuri slid around the beast to get behind it. He knew well that his small weapon would be useless if he attacked it from head on, so he came at the creature from behind instead. With his scalpel bared, he leapt up to try and embed the blade into the back of the insect's head. If he could get a good grip, then he could deal some damage.
no subject
She back away from the action but she did look around to see if there were anymore of those beetles running around. Was it just her or could she hear another one in the back? With nowhere else to go, she found herself trapped once more.
Quickly, looking around, she picked one of the empty boxes as protection. It wasn't much but she had to do something.
no subject
So as the beetle came rampaging in, its bodily fluids leaking from the wounds it had sustained, Yuri ran at it head on. It was only as he neared the beetle, and it moved to swipe him again, that he dodged out to its blind side before leaping up to plunge the other scalpel into its remaining eye. He might not be able to kill it, but if it was blinded, then it couldn't find them with ease. Then someone else could take care of the beast.
His plan seemed to work as he landed back on the ground, scalpel in hand. While he would have preferred reclaiming that second one, the Judge didn't want to risk injury doing so. Besides, as he glanced around, he caught a flicker of something moving behind one of the tents near where Fuuka was hiding. Taking off in that direction, he moved swiftly to slot himself somewhere between his target and Fuuka.
[ooc: if she transforms without him knowing, he could very easily mistake her for a device laying around that he could use to fight with! It's just an idea if you'd like for her to discover anything :D Yuri won't like it, but so long as he doesn't know to begin with, then that's okay xD ]

As soon as Fuuka took one of the boxes, there were sounds coming from behind her. Was it another beetle? When she turned around, there was nothing. Keeping her guard up, she placed the box in front of her as though she was going to throw it.
Just then, something jumped out of nowhere, another one of those creatures decided to surprise Fuuka from the side. Quickly, she tried to move to the side but she only managed to escape with rather large cut from her arm. She had no choice but to drop the box as she was trying to cover it up.
As she landed on the ground, the beetle was staring straight at her. Was she going to die here? Before she could even finish her thought, the monster went after her. In a desperate attempt to save herself, she jumped to the right. However, something else happened. Before she even knew it, she found herself staring up at the ceiling. ...What just happened?
no subject
He hadn't been expecting a third to come out, but with himself already placed between Fuuka, Yuri couldn't turn his back on the beetle in front of him. He'd just have to keep an eye out for both. That was why he launched himself towards the second insect. If he could wipe one of them out of the battle, then he'd just have that last one to fight again.
This would have been far easier if he'd had his NEXT ability, but he had to make do with what he had. So as he rapidly drew nearer, Yuri flicked his wrist out to throw the scalpel in a hopes that it would hit against the creature's eye. His aim continued to run true as the weapon hit its mark, and while it was far from dead, it was disabled enough for now for him to try and aid Fuuka. He skidded to a halt before rapidly changing directions. His eyes widened as he caught sight of blood dripping from the insect's limb.
Gritting his teeth, he pushed himself to run faster as he dashed over to where he'd last saw Fuuka. Maybe she'd fallen behind those boxes? It wouldn't do well to allow any harm to come to her if she could help it. Yet as he pushed himself faster, he couldn't find any sight of her. That thought left a pit of worry knotting in his stomach, even as he leapt up to land a punch to the side of the beetle's face when it seemed to be going for something.
Landing with some form of machine at his feet, the Judge knew that he didn't have much time to act. Yet without anything to defend himself with, he was left with little option. That was why as the beetle regained its sense, he snapped his hand down to grab at the machine with the intention of using it as a weapon to fight the insect with.
no subject
This was the first time that Fuuka transformed into a weapon and because of that, Fuuka has no idea what she was going to do. Her weapon form could only track kishin eggs but that was about it. She could only support those who had the real power to do anything. Now she was simply staring at the ceiling with nothing else to do.
She could hear that Yuri was fighting in the background but she couldn't see exactly what was going on. "Petrov-san?" She shouted but she assumed that he couldn't hear her. What can she do? She wanted to let him know that she was safe but how could she when he doesn't even know where she is? She
"Petrov-san!" She shouted once more before she could feel herself being picked up. Now what? She couldn't attack anything at them and there was no way she could sense what other monsters were outside the tent. Calm down, she mumbled to herself, she had to think of something.
"I'm afraid there's not much you can do." She suddenly spoke up. "My weapon form can only track down Kishin eggs..."
no subject
Yuri had brought the weapon up to slam against the insect to knock the beast back. Yet even before Fuuka spoke, the Judge felt his eyes open in alarm as he felt the first stirring of resonation flickering between them. He didn't hesitate in slamming up all of his walls, ignoring the flaring pain he felt in return, and instead of attacking the beetle as he'd planned, the Judge leapt back to put some distance between them.
"Then we need to retreat," he said before clenching his teeth. Shifting his grip on her weapon form, his fingers brushed over the device as the momentary consideration of simply releasing her and breaking the connection they'd formed, but he decided against it. He couldn't allow himself to stoop to such a dishonourable level despite his dislike for such situations.
no subject
Fuuka wanted to ask if Yuri was okay after that resonance. While she couldn't feel much pain, it was obvious how he was feeling from the way he suddenly jumped back after that attack. "Are you okay?" Of course he wasn't, but it didn't stop her from asking out of habit.
She has a similar thought as him in thinking that it would be best to put some distance between them if he was feeling pain. However, she was surprised to see that he kept holding on. He must have some high tolerance for pain. "I don't want to think that we do but...it seems that we do not a a choice..."
no subject
"The others must be fighting similar creatures around the base," the Judge reasoned before glancing down at the machine in his hand. He couldn't help but spy the out-of-place button on her weapon form, and with curiosity getting the better of him, he stretched his thumb over to press the button in question.
no subject
Before she could say anything else, there was a sudden burst of energy that escaped from her. For a moment, Fuuka wasn't sure what happened but it felt like it was a wave but what kind? As she looked around, it seemed like the beetles were stuck in place but there was some slight twitching from them. Now was the chance to escape!
"Petrov-san, we should go while we have the chance!"
So many apologies for the delay. School's been kicking my butt 8|
They needed to locate a safe area, and with some luck, some true fighters to battle these monstrosities.
Haha, it's okay!
"Um...where can we go?" She finally said. "It seems like this place is filled with those monsters wherever we go."
