[OPEN] Mission 155

Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.

Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.

The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?

Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.

As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.

There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.

"All right but just be careful." She didn't want to be the reason why he was feeling so much pain. However, if he was this stubborn, then she can't say much. She just hopes that he'll feel better once he lets go out of her.

Before she could say anything else, there was a sudden burst of energy that escaped from her. For a moment, Fuuka wasn't sure what happened but it felt like it was a wave but what kind? As she looked around, it seemed like the beetles were stuck in place but there was some slight twitching from them. Now was the chance to escape!

"Petrov-san, we should go while we have the chance!"

So many apologies for the delay. School's been kicking my butt 8|

He wasn't quite sure what had happened, but there was a sudden wave of energy rushing throughout the area before the bugs around them froze in their place. At most, Fuuka would be able to sense his surprise, but the words she called out drew him from his thoughts. He didn't need to be told twice, and without hesitation, the Judge withdrew from the area.

They needed to locate a safe area, and with some luck, some true fighters to battle these monstrosities.

Haha, it's okay!

As he continued to run, Fuuka didn't say much. She was wondering if this was a new power of hers when she arrived here or was it something that had always been a part of her? For all she knew, she had the ability to sense kishin eggs but that was it. While that might be true, she probably should have looked up some more information about herself in the library or ask more about those who knew her.

"Um...where can we go?" She finally said. "It seems like this place is filled with those monsters wherever we go."

Yuri had seen the few fighters that had remained around the medic area, and with them in mind, the Judge began heading to the last location he had seen them before the attack. Yet as he was dashing through the camp area, Yuri suddenly saw a flash of something up ahead within his vision. It was unlike anything he had seen before, but there was something within that left him feeling cautious. That was why he suddenly darted out to the side moments before another large beetle came crashing out.

"There should be fighters just over the other side of the tent," the Judge offered. As if on cue, there was the sound of battle coming from that same direction, and without hesitation, Yuri began running towards it.
yamagishi: (A tedious pack of people)

Being new to the area, she had no idea who were the fighters in their camp. In fact, Yuri might have been one of the only people she talked to. Which was why she was surprised to see a flash up ahead. Was there another fight just like they did? Even when she was in her weapon form, she instinctively ducked her head down from the sudden attack from the beetle.

"Petrov-san, is it a good idea to go toward them?" Perhaps it was just her nature to avoid battles as much as she could. "There will be other monsters over there!"

It was disturbing how he could feel her hesitance and reluctance as he made his way over to where the battle was. Perhaps she did have a point, to a degree, but given their current position, he didn't feel that there was much of a choice in the matter. "We are ill-prepared to take on any more of those beasts as we currently are."

He did what he could to ignore the sharp jolts their resonance was sending through, along with the connection he could feel constantly pressing at the back of his mind. It was then that he came to a stop and placed her down on one of the supply crates. "Perhaps it would be wise for you to return to your original form," Yuri suggested, doing what he could to ignore the lingering traces of feeling such a violation of resonance.

She was going to disagree with him until she agreed to change back into Fuuka. Although right before she did, she couldn't help but feel a little nervous. Now that she wasn't a weapon anymore, who else would be able to protect them? The fighters were on the other side, would they be able to make it?

Once she did, she didn't know why she felt faint. The moment that her feet were on the ground, she instantly wanted to lie down on something. "I'm sorry, I think...transforming into weapon made me tired. Is that normal?" He wasn't a weapon but it couldn't hurt to ask. t

There was some level of relief felt within when she transformed back into her regular self. That meant that he wouldn't have to worry about any further resonation threats, which was a great relief to the Judge. Instead he schooled his features into a look of neutrality while he willed the pain of their previous attempt away from his arms.

"I'm afraid that I am unsure. I have not been in such situations before," Yuri answered honestly. "Do you think you can walk?" If she couldn't then he would have to do what he could to ensure her protection despite his handicap.

As she tried to walk forward, she staggered a bit. However, she does attempt to pretend nothing has happened. "Yea, I think I'm okay." No, she wasn't. She was feeling lightheaded and she couldn't explain why either.

"Let's go to where the others are." She mumbled before rubbing her forehead. "If we get to them, we'll be a lot safer there..."

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-09-28 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
He watched her carefully as she staggered when she took the first few steps. There was no doubt within his mind that it was quite the opposite, but he wasn't going to call her on that. She knew her body and its limitations more than anyone else, after all.

Nodding, he kept a sharp eye on her movements for anything further, the Judge kept is distance. "Indeed we will," Yuri agreed. "Once there, I would suggest that you rest yourself."

"I think you should too, Petrov." She said as she took another small step. "After what happened, it would be for the best."

She took another step but her lack of energy was starting to become apparent. Fuuka was starting to get lightheaded before nearly falling on the ground. "Sorry, I think we do need to hurry before the beetles come back..."

[personal profile] hand_of_judgement 2012-09-29 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
The raising of one of his slender brows was all the answer she got for her efforts. While he wouldn't take her advice, the Judge found it rather odd to hear such concern, even if it would undoubtedly be out of obligation. He didn't say anything in return, but he did catch sight of her growing fatigue.

As much as he loathed doing it, the Judge had little choice but to react and reach out to help steady her when Fuuka showed signs of nearly falling to the ground. "Perhaps it might be best for you to take a moment to rest before we continue," he murmured, inwardly loathing the thought of having to be so physically close to another.
