[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

Mine's been a bundle of joy. Look, we even have company. Duck, please~
[He wants to get the zombie that's shuffling behind you!]

[Leaping aside, Ling hacks the arm off of the next one before it can grab for her.]

[She grabs its other arm (thank goodness for gloves) and throws it to the ground, crushing its skull the same way she took out the first one. It's a bit gruesome for her tastes, but it satisfies the hunger, all the same.]

[Ling lops the head off another zombie, sending it spinning to the ground. He puts on a smile to try and distract Lili from how gross this all is.]
And the perfume that princesses wear smells JUST LIKE THIS. Trust me. I think they call it Eau De Rot.

So are most princesses.
May you you never have to spend a Lantern Festival with them. Blecccch.

[Ling is hacking the legs off a wave of attacking insects with rhythmic precision as he chatters away. Leg, leg, leg, leg, leeeg, leeeg and head, done!]
However, unless I had a brilliant plan to sneak out, I was stuck in the Palace receiving guests at my family's royal party things. This consists of hearing the princesses whine and complain, endure their terrible singing or instrument playing, and having to play that game where you write poetry back and forth to each other. ALL NIGHT.

It sounds like Death City is a nice opportunity for you. You can chase any girl you want to, and not have to entertain any silly princess.
[Lili sends a wink Ling's way, and kicks another ant. She doesn't bother immobilizing each limb individually, she goes straight for the kill.]

[He throws his sword into the face of the ant that's directly behind her to stop it in its tracks, then punches into the head of the one right in front of him.]

[He offers her a rare eyes-open smirk.]
Well now, fighting and chasing girls are two very different things.
no subject
Not with me.
no subject
Well, I'm still quite young, and I bet I have a lot to learn. But in my experience, I've needed to fight to survive, and I haven't had to chase girls to do anything. So... therein lies the difference.

That's what Greed used to say to me, but I never really understood why he thought so.

[He's hopping over to start piling up the bodies of their kills so the street can be cleaned more easily.]

You gotta remember, I was trained by tutors to be able to chat up and flatter the boring nobility. They never trained me for modern independent girls.

I'm not scared. I just prefer to do things the right way.
