[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

She spun around a lightpole and down another street that looked to be empty. Unfortunately, it was also a dead end. Megumi turned, panting, and clutched her katana in front of her. She could hear something growing nearer from around that corner. Taking a deep breath, she tried to steel her nerves. She was going to whack whatever it was advancing on her good!
She raised her sword to make ready, her stance completely and horribly wrong, feet pigeontoed and arms bent at the elbows.
no subject
Saitou followed her, being ruthless as he practically punched through zombies or kicked them in their throat, smashing their skulls or whatever it took to make sure that Megumi out of here safely. It would really help if he could just find a katana and gatotsu multiple ones at the same time, but for some odd reason all of these katanas just shattered into pieces.
When he did reach her, he grabbed one of their skulls and smashed it against a wall before grabbing her and grabbing her katana.
"That's a horrible stance."
At least he made light of the situation.
no subject
"Moving corpses? Giant insects? What on earth is happening?" she worried, not caring for the moment that it was Saitou she was worrying to.
no subject
Behind him, another one of the spiders appeared, apparently angry at the death of the other, but what was he going to do about it. Saitou, with actual katana in hand leaned, ready for the charge before he parried with his own gatotsu. He really didn't develop a variation on it for Giant Spiders(tm).
"At least it's a challenge."
no subject
"Come clean, you," she chided, folding her arms. "Did you wish for this to happen? Can I blame it all on you then?"
no subject
But he didn't linger after the response before charging, slicing the spider's legs off before getting out of the way so that he could go in for another attack. If his battle plan worked as it was supposed to, that spider was going to lose both its legs before going for final attack.
This thing was not good enough for the zero stance. That alone was to take Kenshin's life.
no subject
"Incidentally," she wondered aloud, as if to herself, "I wonder if Ken-san's oath not to kill extends to spiders and ants as well?"
no subject
"It doesn't hurt to be thorough."
Seriously Megumi, did you not watch Zombie Land?
no subject
No, despite the fact that she didn't want to think about Kenshin killing, she had to admit that at the very least, Saitou had an efficient way of handling business.
"Over there," she ordered, and pointed to where there were some guests fighting a few blocks ahead. "That's where I want to get to."
no subject
"Stay behind and out of sight. I'll signal when it's clear."
no subject
At least, she didn't notice the first time. The second time, she swatted it away and whirled around, ready to go ballistic on whomever thought they had the right to try something like that-- only to find herself staring up into the face of a gigantic ant.
Megumi didn't stop to think. She whipped off one of her wooden geta and whacked the big on the face with it, shouting to try and scare it off.
no subject
Spearing half a torse on the tip of his sword, Saitou moved slow enough not to startle it, but fast enough to show that he was the one that it wanted.

Trying to make the distraction was harder than he thought it would be. Slowly throwing (yet feebly) the torso in the completely opposite direction of Megumi, Saitou decided that it was up to him to get rid of this thing using good old fashioned stabbing.
"Run!"
no subject
What on earth kind of place had she fallen into, honestly? This was beyond the pale. She wasn't going to last long here if it was always like this, she reasoned.
no subject
In fact, despite how much pain Saitou was in, he was actually being quite smug about it. Heh, the Immortal One he really is.

arghhh i apologize. tags from here on out might be slower because i'm battling the flu
"That can be done later, we're going to take you back to your home."
Re: I just caught the flu myself. lol. no worries bro.
Megumi looked up and down the street, and nodded to him when she spied an empty bar of some sort two doors to their left. "This way," she commanded.
no subject
He was too stubborn to relent, he was going to make sure she was taken to safety, whether she liked it or not. So while she was trying to get him out from the path of danger he was going to pick her up and carry her to a safehouse.
no subject
Where were Ken-san and Sanosuke and Kaoru when she really needed them? Hell, even Yahiko would be a godsend.
no subject
Argh, his legs, they felt like they were going to tear off. His duty, however, was to her first and then to himself. He would rather die than see a civilian die because of ...
Whatever it was that was happening.
no subject
"How dare you threaten me! Unhand me, you brute! Help! SANOSUKE! KEN-SAN! Gyahhh, let me go, you stink like tobacco smoke!" Cry out as she might, there didn't seem to be anybody around to answer to her pleas for help. Pummeling him with her fists didn't seem to be working, and her legs weren't reaching when she kicked. Which was pretty much why she decided to try and poke Saitou in the eyes.
no subject
His head was pounding as he sweat out the black the water. With the combination of the acid and the water, Saitou was slowing down his pace and the next thing he knew, he had to set her down on a bench and he was barely able to keep up with her beatings.
"You have a lot more things to worry about than my smell." He growled, even as he was hobbling along, trying to keep his grip on her.
"Poke me in the eye and see what happens."
no subject
"You look like you're about to vomit," she added, noting his sweating and his complexion becoming rather bluish-gray as he leaned dangerously forward. Was he swallowing? Was he moving towards her? Oh, no! How disgusting! "Don't-- don't you dare do it on me," she stammered, objecting. "I'll make you sorry you ever saw the light of day."
