[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

In fact, despite how much pain Saitou was in, he was actually being quite smug about it. Heh, the Immortal One he really is.

arghhh i apologize. tags from here on out might be slower because i'm battling the flu
"That can be done later, we're going to take you back to your home."
Re: I just caught the flu myself. lol. no worries bro.
Megumi looked up and down the street, and nodded to him when she spied an empty bar of some sort two doors to their left. "This way," she commanded.

He was too stubborn to relent, he was going to make sure she was taken to safety, whether she liked it or not. So while she was trying to get him out from the path of danger he was going to pick her up and carry her to a safehouse.

Where were Ken-san and Sanosuke and Kaoru when she really needed them? Hell, even Yahiko would be a godsend.

Argh, his legs, they felt like they were going to tear off. His duty, however, was to her first and then to himself. He would rather die than see a civilian die because of ...
Whatever it was that was happening.
no subject
"How dare you threaten me! Unhand me, you brute! Help! SANOSUKE! KEN-SAN! Gyahhh, let me go, you stink like tobacco smoke!" Cry out as she might, there didn't seem to be anybody around to answer to her pleas for help. Pummeling him with her fists didn't seem to be working, and her legs weren't reaching when she kicked. Which was pretty much why she decided to try and poke Saitou in the eyes.

His head was pounding as he sweat out the black the water. With the combination of the acid and the water, Saitou was slowing down his pace and the next thing he knew, he had to set her down on a bench and he was barely able to keep up with her beatings.
"You have a lot more things to worry about than my smell." He growled, even as he was hobbling along, trying to keep his grip on her.
"Poke me in the eye and see what happens."
no subject
"You look like you're about to vomit," she added, noting his sweating and his complexion becoming rather bluish-gray as he leaned dangerously forward. Was he swallowing? Was he moving towards her? Oh, no! How disgusting! "Don't-- don't you dare do it on me," she stammered, objecting. "I'll make you sorry you ever saw the light of day."
no subject
Between the beating earlier from Kenshin, the acid and well, Megumi, Saitou wasn't faring as well as he should have. He actually stumbled and he had to rest against ... a wall that wasn't there and he found that the world was turning in the most peculiar manner. It was almost as if he was on his back and looking at the sky.
no subject
"Why not just label it WATER for gods' sake," she muttered to herself in gritted in her own language, hips swaying in indignation as she made her way back across the street to where Saitou lay. "Stupid, stupid, and stupider."
Kneeling down beside Saitou, she very, very gently lifted his head with her right hand, allowing it to rest on her knees, and opened the bottle with her left. She'd treat him as a human being with symptoms in this moment, and pretend to herself that Saitou the royal pain in the ass was something that could be switched off. "Drink," she said, her voice soft and tired and just a tiny bit pained. There was a massive headache coming on, she could feel it pinching at her. "This is purified. I'll hold it for you."

Wait?
This woman, wasn't she?
"... A Fox?"
Of course, that was the first thing he equated people to- animals. But this one was actually familiar, now that he looked at her. It made all of the yelling seem more ... understandable than irritating, he supposed.
Yet, he opened his mouth for the water, knowing that he needed this. His pride could take a few hits after this.
no subject
"Don't you call me that." She stared sternly down at him and tilted the bottle of water just enough that he'd be able to drink without it coming out too fast. Foxes weren't so bad, as animals went, but every time someone called her one, they said it like it was such a bad thing. "Unless you want me to dump this on your face."
no subject
If he just relaxed his neck a little bit, he could probably understand it better.
no subject
"Bah," she grumbled. "I'm not going to feed you like a mother bird. Don't pass out on me. Wake up!"
no subject
He had heard some distant talk before his eyelids grew heavy and he couldn't fight it anymore, and fell unconscious.

Eventually, when Saitou came to, he'd find himself dragged into the lobby of the nearest office building, lying on the floor, quite alone. His black t-shirt had been folded under his head like a little pillow and his blue policeman's jacket lay over him like a blanket. All wounds had been cleaned and bandaged quite properly, anything that needed stitches would be stitched up and covered with gauze to allow him to have freedom of movement, and there'd be a packet of medicine lying on top of his folded blue jacket and black shirt. The instructions on the packet read that he was to add the ground herbs to his tea three times a day for the next two weeks to speed up the healing.
