The Clinic is a fairly large, several rooms with a number of beds partitioned by curtains your muses can open or close as they see fit.

Oh, good. I was worried for a moment. [Thankfully, he's not picky. She takes a seat and pours her own cup second, taking a long, thoughtful sip to cover up a bit of flushing.] Then I would be happy to stay. I imagine I can't be of too much help in some areas, considering the doctor/patient confidentiality and the fact my knowledge of the medical field is somewhat limited, but there's always something.

[Aaah, tea and food. Life is good. He leans back in his seat and chews on a sammich.]

I can always find something for you to do. I daresay you are skilled in many things, even if you say you are not!

[It takes so little to keep him happy! She crosses her legs and unwraps hers and daintily takes a few bites.]

I worked at a radio station some time ago -- more than a decade ago. I'm excellent with organization, as well.

Ah! Back in my time, the radio is a relatively new invention. Did you perhaps speak for it? [ nod nod hum! ] I may ask you to help count our stocks. The hospital will need to be informed of what supplies we need from them soon enough.

[Tea and sandwiches, so terrible!]

In my time, it's mostly used to broadcast music. I was in charge of choosing the day's line-up of the music, choosing who would speak during the intervals, that sort of thing. It didn't last long, since I went back to magic shortly afterward. [She finishes off the first quarter and goes to the second.] I can do that, definitely.

I see! So you were in charge of your audience’s happiness for a day. How charming. [And he means it, or so he looks. Om nom nom sandwich.] You weren’t hurt during the frog attack, were you? Nothing for me to check up on?

Mostly, yeah. I was the 'boss,' but it really wasn't the job for me. I've always been a magician. [Fatty fat fat fat eating~ also, some tea.] No, I'm fine. Didn't have much of a run-in, and I may not look it, but I'm a Red Belt in Martian Kung-Fu. [Which you should be impressed by. :)]

A red belt! [He vaguely remembers that it's quite high and therefor Impressive.] You are such a capable woman, Zatanna, I am very much impressed. Then I do hope you were able to help rid the city of those pesky frogs! Why, the clinic was in shambles upon our return. It's only fortunate that their corpses disappeared.

[And Martian-y.] I've lived alone most of my life. It sort of... becomes necessary. [Zee gives him a little nod.] I would have been more involved, but I still am unaware of my Meister ability and I was looking after a young girl called Nill. [She's so cute. ;;] It looks really quite clean now. You must have worked very hard for it to be this nice right now.

Did you find her, then? [Nods to thank her for the compliment ///] Thank you! I did nothing, however, except bully some of the bystanders to right some items here and there.

I did. [She laughs a little, and covers her mouth so she doesn't spit out the tea. She certainly didn't expect that answer to come from him. Swallowing hard, she ends it with a few giggles and a wave of her hand.] Well, you did an excellent job of bullying, then.

I would like to think I did! Practise with Holmes, of course. [second sandwich!] And I do believe we shall get back to work after this lunch is done. You are a lifesaver; I was quite famished.

Chan's so dorky, even if she's younger in it. I like his Blue Steel face, also.

I'm certain he'd take that as a compliment. You're quite welcome, though if I'd have known I would have come a little earlier. I just decided 'lunch time' for lunch. It's nice to not eat alone, I'll admit.

/hee hee. When are they going to cast her as Zatanna?

He is used to it, I would suppose. We have lived with each other long enough, though pretending to be dead did put a bit of a pause on our living arrangements.

[moustachey grin] It's very nice to eat with a lovely lady such as yourself, of course. Much better than working through luncheon and acquiring my stomach's ire.

Never, hopefully! /not a fan of superhero films, sob.

I'd imagine so. I've... been in similar situations. I thought my father was dead for a good, long while, even. [But that's a story for another time -- or so her coy little smile says.]

Ah! [She leans forwards a beat.] You really shouldn't skip meals, even if you're working! You might find yourself ill!

Your father faked his own death? [curiously, thoroughly baited!]

Oh, no, I do try not to skip meals at all, but I must admit that not having a housekeeper does tend to take a toll on a bachelor like myself.

I can't see past what I'm used to. I do like Christian Bale, though he's not my ~head Bruce~

Ah... s-sort of? He was cursed so that if he were to see me again that I would die. I didn't know my mother for... a similar reason, as well. [Everybody dies on her :(]

Oh, come now! A little tidying and cooking never hurt anyone. I'm sure it's hardly exhausting. [She tilts her head to the side, with a wide smile.] Though I do imagine that lifestyles can carry over -- I'm an excellent cook, if you don't mind me saying, so if Holmes and yourself are ever in need, please let me know. I could stop by every other day with dinner. [to two starving, dorky bachelors. nice.]

A-and, yes, of course, we would be delighted to have you as a guest, though perhaps the cooking is something we may try a gander with.

I have a hard time differentiating it as "new material" and the like. :<

It was. My mother... well, it... [She frowns.] I only knew her for a few days before she died. [Zatanna smiles a little absently, an 'it's okay, hey just forget about it!' sort of smile.]

I could help with teaching, particularly more simplistic meals. My specialty is Thai and Indian -- particularly vegetarian and vegan, but I do know how to cook with meat and I'd be more than happy to have some of my knowledge put to use.

I… see. [He’s not going to pursue it if it seems like an uncomfortable topic for her. So he takes the opportunity to steer the conversation away when she presents itself.]

That would be much appreciated, yes. I do rather miss authentic Indian food – I was stationed there for a brief period of time, you know, and I quite found their [girls] culture very fascinating. But that is a lovely idea, my dear, if you would have some spare time to impart your most alien knowledge to two hopeless bachelors.

[hexappeal]

[She feels almost bad about it, but it's a long, winding, strange story. Or stranger, perhaps.]

Oh, excellent! I'm sure I could make something to your liking. I would have to insist on taste-testing, considering everyone's tolerance to spices are different and I'd much rather make something you would enjoy than something too strong or mild. [She raises a hand to her mouth, covering it slightly and she laughs again. It's been a long while since she's felt this comfortable.] I can always try! I make no promises.

You will find us the most adept of students! Holmes himself is a chemist, and I have had some hand in concocting some edible gruel. [Now he’s just jesting. But he starts to put the paper for his sandwiches away.] Perhaps you would like some dessert? I was given chocolate some time back, that I had not managed to touch yet and thankfully remained safe in the clinic through the hoarde of frogs that rained on this unfortunate city. [Shuffling off to get it anyway.]

Edible gruel, you say? Well, then, I'm sure you'll be a fantastic chef in no time! [D'aww he's so precious. But he probably has some idea about that...] Oh, you tempt me so. Quite terrible of you, but I suppose a little wouldn't hurt.

Your hope in me is invigorating! [Maybe. He comes back with a chocolate bar, cracks it in half, and then hands over half of it to her in a gentlemanly manner.] Here you are, madame.
