hexappeal: (cute.)

I have a hard time differentiating it as "new material" and the like. :<

It was. My mother... well, it... [She frowns.] I only knew her for a few days before she died. [Zatanna smiles a little absently, an 'it's okay, hey just forget about it!' sort of smile.]

I could help with teaching, particularly more simplistic meals. My specialty is Thai and Indian -- particularly vegetarian and vegan, but I do know how to cook with meat and I'd be more than happy to have some of my knowledge put to use.

I… see. [He’s not going to pursue it if it seems like an uncomfortable topic for her. So he takes the opportunity to steer the conversation away when she presents itself.]

That would be much appreciated, yes. I do rather miss authentic Indian food – I was stationed there for a brief period of time, you know, and I quite found their [girls] culture very fascinating. But that is a lovely idea, my dear, if you would have some spare time to impart your most alien knowledge to two hopeless bachelors.
hexappeal: (i'm not trolling.)

[She feels almost bad about it, but it's a long, winding, strange story. Or stranger, perhaps.]

Oh, excellent! I'm sure I could make something to your liking. I would have to insist on taste-testing, considering everyone's tolerance to spices are different and I'd much rather make something you would enjoy than something too strong or mild. [She raises a hand to her mouth, covering it slightly and she laughs again. It's been a long while since she's felt this comfortable.] I can always try! I make no promises.
stalwartcane: (ahahaha)

[As strange as the sun?]

You will find us the most adept of students! Holmes himself is a chemist, and I have had some hand in concocting some edible gruel. [Now he’s just jesting. But he starts to put the paper for his sandwiches away.] Perhaps you would like some dessert? I was given chocolate some time back, that I had not managed to touch yet and thankfully remained safe in the clinic through the hoarde of frogs that rained on this unfortunate city. [Shuffling off to get it anyway.]
hexappeal: (pb → bright.)

[personal profile] hexappeal 2010-08-02 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[And a not-flat world!]

Edible gruel, you say? Well, then, I'm sure you'll be a fantastic chef in no time! [D'aww he's so precious. But he probably has some idea about that...] Oh, you tempt me so. Quite terrible of you, but I suppose a little wouldn't hurt.
stalwartcane: (heh)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-02 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Your hope in me is invigorating! [Maybe. He comes back with a chocolate bar, cracks it in half, and then hands over half of it to her in a gentlemanly manner.] Here you are, madame.
hexappeal: (pb → dorky.)

[personal profile] hexappeal 2010-08-02 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll try to keep it up, then! With any luck, you'll share my sentiment given time. [She gives him a polite nod of thank you and breaks her half into little squares, popping one into her mouth and letting it melt a little before chewing.]
stalwartcane: (derp derp derp)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-02 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sentiments are contagious, yes, I've heard! [laughs as he also eats his chocolates, though in a more manly manner!]
hexappeal: (pb → soda.)

[personal profile] hexappeal 2010-08-02 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
You might've heard correctly, then. We'll have to wait and see. [Of course, for he is the manliest!] Hey. [A pause.] Tell me something.
stalwartcane: (expecting babiez)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-03 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Manliest, y!] Yes? [curious]
hexappeal: (pb → bright.)

[personal profile] hexappeal 2010-08-03 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Y!] About yourself, I mean. I feel like I'm just talking about myself. Something, anything. Whatever you want.
stalwartcane: (ah-- how embarrassing)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-03 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, that’s… flattering! Watson chuckles and then hides his embarrassment with chocolate.] Oh, but a lot of my life has been written on paper. It seemed rather redundant and self-centered of me to go on a spiel about it again. But for details, I suppose… I grew up in Scotland and had a dog. Is that a good start?
hexappeal: (pb → faint smile.)

[personal profile] hexappeal 2010-08-03 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
[D'aww so cute.] That's different. There are little things. And even then, I'd like to hear it from you, I suppose. [She gives him a little nod.] Go on.
stalwartcane: (swinging his cane)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-03 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Shifts in his seat.] I must say I'm rather unused to it. Holmes, for example, has the uncanny ability to know everything about a person by just looking at them. But very well! [gamely] I was born John Hamish Watson, on the 31st of March, the year of our lord 1853. I believe my parents could not remember whether it was the 31st or April 1st, but naturally, since they did not want their son to grow up a fool, they decided it was the 31st. [laughs a bit.] I had a brother, Harry, who went into service as I did. Apart from that, my family life largely remained ordinary until I moved to London.
hexappeal: (pb → explaining.)

[personal profile] hexappeal 2010-08-03 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
I like hearing about other people, though. [He's so thorough. It's totally adorable. ;;] I see. I'm somewhat familiar with all of this, I admit. I honestly feel like a bit of a voyeur. [A little laugh, but it's so very true.] I imagine the London you know is very different from the one I do, but there's still a certain magic about it.
stalwartcane: (ye olde happy days)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-03 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It's also my fault for talking so much on paper, I would suppose! Little did I know that it would proliferate through the decades. [shifts to make himself more comfortable] But London is very quaint, yes! Rather smoggy, unfortunately, but it's incredibly lively and is second to none in charm.
hexappeal: (pb → calm.)

[personal profile] hexappeal 2010-08-03 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but I never expected to be speaking to you, either, so you're hardly to blame in this. [She smiles slightly, encouragingly.] There's a certain charm even in that, even in its industrial nature. I think, at least.
