[OPEN] Earthquake Event

Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

[Tohru Honda/ Maid Cafe/Anywhere nearby-Morning] [OPEN]

[personal profile] zodiaconigiri 2012-01-30 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tohru is nervous, very nervous. The poor customers were just as scared as she was with the sudden earthquake that morning. Tohru quickly stood outside the maid cafe, surveying the damage. Being the kind person she was as well looking for anyone injured or needed help.]

[Automail shop/Afternoon] If that's alright with you!

[personal profile] knightime 2012-01-30 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Shit motherfucking christ.

[Dave did exactly what he said he'd do, which was keep the automail shop clean, or as clean as one can get when they knew jackshit of what everything was exactly. He didn't exactly want to explain of stuff got lost because he didn't know what it was.

Except, now everything had to be cleaned up or rearranged. Dave already made sure the apartment was fine (albeit it was a little messy now) and went to check on the shop after he was sure that things had settled and after he helped some people out of they were injured or trapped. Now he was just looking at a mess.]

[Cloud Strife & Sephiroth] [Supermarket, 5 mins before the quake] [Close]

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-01-30 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The mission the day before had been successful in more ways than one. While they'd defeated the Kishin Egg, the pair had decided to take some time to themselves. Sephiroth had seen the way that Cloud had been ever since the mission in Europe, but he had respected his partner's right to privacy as well. There were only two people within Death City that could cause the blonde to react the way he did, and the ex-General could easily predicted which of the two it was. That was why the time together after the mission had been necessary. He never brought up the topic, but wanted nothing more than to provide a distraction and quiet ear for whatever Cloud had wanted to talk about.

Today, however, they'd taken to the supermarket to restock items for their apartment. While they didn't eat much, the supplies they did have had dwindled too far into the redzone, and the ex-General wanted it to be prepared in a case of an emergency. That wasn't to mention that they were out of cat food, and if they'd forget that, they'd never hear the end of it from Jenova.

Their cart was about half filled with various products. What Cloud saw the need to put into them went beyond him, but he trusted his partner to get whenever they needed. Neither of them were all that frivolous when it came to buying unnecessary items, after all.

Pushing the cart around to the next aisle, Sephiroth glanced over towards Cloud as he lightly reminded, "We'll need more cans for Jenova." While he was certain that Cloud would remember, he didn't wish to be put into a situation where he was forced to give Cloud 'the look' if it was forgotten.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-01-30 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
They usually shopped for any groceries in the morning. Usually, they planned it so that most people were still at morning training so that there were less people in the aisles for Sephiroth to possibly get disgruntled at. Plus, he thought it was rather interesting to see a man like his partner pushing a grocery cart leisurely, which would only be done if there were few people around.

They were almost done what he thought they needed anyway. He never took a list; that was what women did. While he knew his mind wasn't a steel trap, he was pretty sure he knew what they needed in the way of food. It wasn't like they ate that much, and shopping trips only happened rarely.

For now, he refused to allow his mind to be occupied with anything but the quiet setting, the rows of food on the shelves and his partner trailing not that far behind him. He stopped to take an item from the shelf and drop it into the cart, heading out of the aisle into the next. He didn't like eating a lot of canned foods, but Sephiroth insisted on survival rations.

"Yeah, but that's another aisle or so over, so we'll get her food then," he replied as they made it halfway down the current aisle before he found something worth taking from the shelf. He turned the can around so that he could read the label. "Don't forget you can grab stuff too."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-01-30 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Pushing the cart not far behind Cloud, he haphazardly glanced at the items in the next aisle while they walked down it. So long as they had rations and cat food, he didn't really care much for anything else. So long as Cloud got what he needed, then that was all that mattered to him.

"Good," Sephiroth muttered in reply to Jenova's food. His attention was stolen once again as Cloud picked another item from the shelf. Shrugging slightly, he slowed the cart to a stop before calmly regarding his partner. "I've already got everything I need."

He was busy looking at the ingredients on the label before he figured out that he wasn't satisfied and replaced it. He moved to the next brand and looked at the items there before he decided that it was what he wanted and placed it in the cart.

He approached the shelf again to look for another item to say that he had at least tried to ration, though he paused to glance over his shoulder at the ex-General. "Everything, hmm?" Such a hopeless romantic at heart, but he didn't dare call Sephiroth that in public. He'd get glared at.

He huffed lightly and pulled off two hands from the shelf to again look at their labels. The first one sounded disgusting, so he put it back and he was about to look at the label of the second when the ground started shaking. He blinked, looking to his partner before he realized that this was an earthquake. At that point several cans were falling, hitting his back before he reached over to cover his head.

"Geez, I hope we don't get items we don't want in the cart!"

[the earthquake had been unexpected, but then again they weren't that uncommon either. on the other hand, this one had been particularly strong. as soon it finished and after ensuring that the barriers were still intact, Kid was out of the Shinigami chambers and out flying over the city on his skateboard to inspect the damage and to see if there was anything he could do to help.

at least one thing could be assured of. Kid will make sure that all repair work is done perfectly and precisely. he wouldn't stand to let his father's city stay damaged for long.]

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-01-30 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Cloud seemed to be taking his shopping seriously, by the way that he was weighing his options between the items, and he found the sight to be amusing. If it was him doing Cloud's job, he just would have picked whatever item he first saw and place it into the cart. His taste buds often didn't care what he ate so long as it would provide his body the right amount of nutrients.

He gave his partner a look when Cloud questioned his answer. Sephiroth didn't see any problem with his answer, especially since he'd been honest with it. Yet he couldn't dismiss the thought that Cloud was actually amused by it all as well.

Before they could move on, the ground beneath them suddenly began to tremble. Instantly on his guard, his eyes narrowed as items began falling off the shelf. Sephiroth didn't hesitate in pushing the cart forward to get it out of the way before he dashed forward to tackle his partner to the ground.

Grunting as various cans and boxes came raining down on him, the ex-General made certain to protect his partner as he covered Cloud's body with his own.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-01-30 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Cloud knew that he had to get away from the side of the shelf, but it was going to be difficult. He had experienced a few earthquakes before on Gaea, but he hadn't been stuck in a grocery store where all manner of small dense items could brain him dead at any time. Usually, he was avoiding falling rocks and other large important objects from crushing him.

Of course, he didn't have to worry much when Sephiroth tackled him over, and he grunted as he hit the floor. He landed on a few fallen cans, but they were the least of his concerns. He shifted to remove them from being under his back and realized that Sephiroth had rushed in to protect him from any harm. "You're such a protective idiot," he snapped.

Instantly, his arms reached up to curl protectively around Sephiroth's head, pulling it against his chest so he could raise his shoulders a bit to shield Sephiroth's ears. It was only a stray thought that he shifted one hand enough to moved the bulk of Sephiroth's hair between them to protect it from getting pulled into various tight places as cans rained down on his partner instead of him.

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-01-30 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
He was used to pain of various origins, and while he felt pain from each item falling on him, Sephiroth could easily brush the sensation off. It helped that his eyes widened at the feel of Cloud's arms snapping up to wrap around his head protectively. Ignoring the spikes of pain, he clenched his eyes closed while burying his face against his partner's chest.

The snapped words were returned with silence. While he may have been injuring himself to keep Cloud safe, Sephiroth would do it ten times over if it meant that not harm would come to the younger male. Soon enough the shaking stopped, and with it the barrage of groceries. Glancing up, he ignored the fact that he was covered with groceries as he peered at Cloud with overly bright cat-like eyes. "You're not hurt, are you?"

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-01-30 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Cloud ignored the pain when cans were falling on his arms and building up at their sides as the shaking continued. The sound was loud, but he refused to move so that he could protect his partner in return, even if he knew that they would both be rather sore. Who knew that little cans could be so deadly.

He was thankful when the shaking stopped, though he was certain that they were both quite buried laying on the floor as they were. He shifted his arms slightly even as Sephiroth rose a bit to look at him, and he could feel piled cans on his arms. "No more than some bruises and scraps. You?"

[She's less intrusive than an ambulance and able to carry a doctor directly to the scene. If more medical supplies are needed, she has a vest harnessed to her body that she can rush out. Also, if it's necessary, she'll carry someone back to the clinic, but someone extremely injured has to be transported by an ambulance. Amaterasu really likes this job.]

Sephiroth watched Cloud for any signs of hidden pain that the blonde might be hiding. There didn't appear to be any fortunately, and he inwardly sighed in relief. That was all that he cared about, if he was being honest with himself, and the ex-General was more than fine with any injury his body had sustained.

There was a pain and tightness in his chest each time he breathed, which left him wondering if one of the cans had impacted against his rib and cracked it. That was a rather large possibility, but it was a suspicion he would keep to himself for now.

"One could say the same, but it isn't anything that I can't handle," Sephiroth murmured honestly. Bruises were nothing, after all. Knowing that Cloud was alright though, he shifted his legs in closer to his body before pushing himself up to straddle Cloud's thighs. The movement caused the cans and boxes to go clattering to the ground, but not before pain spiked on his right side. Wincing at the sensation, his hand instantly came to grab at the area as he hissed lightly in surprise.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-01-30 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Nodding his head as much as he could given the situation, he shifted his arms so that cans were forced to roll either side of Sephiroth's head. Only when he was all clear did he move them away so that his partner could sit up fully, as the ex-General's shifting legs indicated to him.

He watched as Sephiroth sat up, alarmed by the hissing and grasping that occurred. He shifted to sit up himself, leaving Sephiroth on his thighs as he reached out to unbuckle the silver-haired man's jacket and pushed it gently to the side. There was already obvious bruising, and he looked up at his Weapon with a scolding look.

"I think you cracked or broke a rib," he accused, as if this was somehow all of Sephiroth's fault. "Let's get you home to tend to it," he murmured, though he knew there was nothing that he could do but force his partner to rest.

[He grumbles a bit. Can he just do Watch related things and pretend this isn't a problem at the moment?]

Were you planning on doing a redesign of the shop? Because you sure as fucking can now.

Or we can leave it like this. It'll be some new, ironic way to present shops.

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-01-30 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It seemed that his suspicions were confirmed as he'd sat back on his legs. He'd tried to avoid getting the worst injuries as best he could, but it appeared as though he hadn't been entirely fortunate. His ribs only felt cracked, fortunately enough, but it would still prove to be a pain without the full scope of his JENOVA abilities. An irritating though.

He sensed Cloud was on the move moments before his jacket was unbuckled and opened for the blonde to sight the area. Removing his hand, he found himself far from surprised at the bruising that had appeared and inwardly sighed in annoyance.

The accusation was returned with a light shrug, and he mentally brushed off the scolding look. In his mind, the injuries were well worth it given Cloud's current state of health. Shaking his head lightly, the ex-General began to push himself up to stand, the movement irritating his chest, as he muttered, "We're not leaving without Jenova's food."

He'd rather spend the day under Hojo's care than put up with that cat's constant complaining if they'd returned without it.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-01-30 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Cloud had to roll his eyes when Sephiroth just brushed off the injury, but then again, he would do the exact some thing. Hell, he probably wouldn't even admit it was cracked or broken. He managed to get a sense of Sephiroth's level of pain when the ex-General stood, and he felt like it was probably just a crack as well.

He rose quickly afterwards, stepping up to ease his partner's suffering by helping Sephiroth the rest of the way up. He hissed in aggravation as the silver-haired man's stubbornness with regards to Jenova, and he had to shake his head. "You spoil her way too much," he accused.

Still, he would abide by that one demand, mostly because making Jenova go without wasn't in his best interests either. He could completely blame it on Sephiroth right now though, and he looked at their buried cart and knew they would have to abandon it. There was no point with everyone fleeing the store as it was.

Instead, he reached down and picked up a few cans of fruit before gesturing for the ex-General to follow. "You realize that her favourite flavour will be buried at the bottom of the pile, and I'll have to dig through to get it," he said grumpily, heading to the aisle where the cat food was kept. It looked as disastrous as the previous one, but he had to get the food.

If there was one word to describe Sephiroth, stubborn was definitely it. He wasn't leaving this supermarket regardless of whatever injuries or the situation he was in. Levelling Cloud with a glare, he remained bullheaded on this before he heard the accusation. He didn't deny it, but he also knew that there may have been some truth in it as Cloud relented.

"Unless you wish to put up with her whining, I would strongly suggest obtaining it," he said in return. Sephiroth knew that Cloud would indulge him though, and as the blonde grudgingly began heading off, the ex-General followed behind. He was a little slower with his movements, but he didn't allow the pain of his injuries to get in the way.

He wasn't all that surprised when he sighted the state of the next aisle. Although Cloud's grumpy words had him smirking subtly in amusement. The sounds of the warning sirens and panicked people went ignored, and he shook his head and trailed after Cloud to try and find her favourite flavour. "Perhaps you'll be fortunate enough to find a can or two still on the shelf?"

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-01-30 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Her whining? I'm more worried about your whining because she's bugging you for food, and you cave in to her every demand," he railed on as he picked his way down the aisle to where the cat food was supposed to be. It was a mess, and there was broken bags everywhere and cans scattered about.

He managed to make it to the set area, but the only things still on the shelves were flavours she would turn her nose up at. What a spoiled beast they owned, he thought as he pushed a bag of dog food out of the way. He then began to his search for the cans that Jenova would eat.

He picked out a few, noted some were dented and tossed them away. He wasn't feeding his cat dented in food, so he had to dig deeper to find cans that not only had a label still but were in good condition. "Why does she only eat chicken flavoured and white fish and tuna flavoured food? This is all your fault, letting her get away with selective eating habits," he grumbled as he tossed the good cans into part of a broken open bag to easier carrying.

Standing, he tucked his load of canned cat food under one arm, picked up a decent bag of dry kibble, and his measly four cans of canned fruit. He made his way back towards where Sephiroth was and heaved a sigh as if he were holding in his patience. "Let's go and get you home to soak in the tub."
thewarisover: (yeah well...)

Cool. And I'm guessing his post to Mustang's post came before this. XD

I don't think that's possible.

[Wryly, walking in.]

Let's clear some space, at least. If there are a lot of injured folks, the clinic's going to need the room.

[Doctor Watson occasionally frees up the area for patients when they get a fuck load of them.]
