[OPEN] Earthquake Event

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

Oh. [He endeavors to be more thorough, though he's...not sure what he's missing. Eventually, he asks:] Why the concern over dust? [He knew stardust and moondust to be important. But...well, he's no wizard, but this just looks like dust-dust.]

If you don't get rid of it it'll stay on the ground and become a breeding ground for germs or rise up into the air and get stuck in people's lungs and kill them. [duuuuuh]

And you're still leaving some on.

[...That sounds serious. So he tries harder. But there is this niggling little question...]

What are germs? [Sorry, Monk, the medieval knight from a land where medicine is magic doesn't know germ theory.]

[he gets a long-suffering look for his troubles]

They're microorganisms that cover every possible surface if you don't take care of them. Leaving them allows them to breed millions more that will enter your body, make you ill, and kill you.

Is there no other way to combat these?

[Because, well, this seems a bit. Inefficient.]

There's plenty of better ways. But no one will let me do them. [apparently burning down a city is a bad idea? who knew.]

People don't understand the dangers that leaving this alone bring. They think they're fine if they wash their hands once or twice.

Here? [he pauses, looks around contemplatively] It's not a good location for living in, with all the sand. I'd either get rid of that or burn the city and relocate.
