It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.
The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

still, the chaos that interrupted after the rumbling stopped couldn't be ignored. he had payed for his food, of which he had only eaten half, and set out to survey the damage as soon as his conversation with Roy was finished.
the first thought that popped into his head was those closest to him, although he believed his own words when he had told the Watch leader that his brother would be okay. it was mainly those who weren't used to such natural disasters that he let himself be concerned about.
currently he can be found on the streets of the Red Light District, his usual patrol point, trying to glimpse a familiar face. ]

As she headed through the streets, she tried to keep a general eye out for people in need to help but without meaning to, she started thinking of those she was close to, wondering if they were safe.
When she saw him at a distance, Tifa paused before beginning to hurry over to Itachi, knowing he wouldn't be able to make her out until she got close up to him. When she got closer, she slowed until she was before him, out of breath from running around and feeling relief that he didn't appear hurt.]

Still, it wasn't until she spoke his name that his suspicions were confirmed. Stepping closer to see her better, he reached a hand out to steady her, noting that she had been running just moments previously. ]

[ it's spoken with the most serious of tones. the ramen even spilled on him! but he leaves that detail out, instead taking the time to inspect Tifa as best he could with his limited vision. ]

It was a little startlingly, but it's similar to things I've experienced before. But people might have been hurt, so I was worried for... [she trails off a moment]

[ he drops his gaze then, studying the ground in front of them instead. ]

[ he realizes at that moment that although he knows a little more about her past now, he has not asked her much about her world.

[She glances at him again before turning a bit and going to gently pull him along as she starts forward again.]

[ carefully he reached forward and lifted the man's other arm, taking some of the wait off of the stranger that had spoken to him. ]
He should go to the clinic.

That's what I was thinking. Grandfather here had quite a fall, and there was actually a grandmother in the building too. I need to go back for her. Would you mind waiting for us? They asked not to be separated.
[Ling turns and addresses the elderly man, speaking politely]
Would that be okay, sir? If I ask this man to help you stand, while I get your wife?

Is it stable enough to go back inside?
[ by now he's pretty sure the dark haired man would go back inside anyway. ]

[With that, he pats the old man's shoulder reassuringly, and he's dashing off at top speed (amazing for Ling's own world, probably kindergartener level in Itachi's).]
[A moment or two passes, and presently, Ling can be seen coming up the stairs, carrying the wife in his arms. She has bandages on her leg and arm.]
[As he approaches, he addresses Itachi again]
Thank you, sir, for being kind enough to help. The clinic is... this way, yes?
[Ling points very nearly in the direction of the clinic. Well, at least he was close.]

[ Itachi doesn't bother to correct him. instead he hoists the man up more and starts in the general direction Ling had been pointing. they had to reach the clinic quickly, who knows how many more people needed help? ]

[ that wasn't to say they didn't happen. still, in the five months that Itachi had been in the city this was the biggest natural disaster he could recall.
he's walking rather quickly himself. even mostly blind and without his sharingan he is able to navigate the city decently enough. ]
They are not uncommon back where I am from. This world is a little different, though.

How about the technology? I think that's one of the biggest differences for me. Where I come from we don't have such things as these picture boxes. Or machines that fly in the sky.
