Description: OOC post here.

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

Sort of. [he halts his cleaning to look over at her, although only briefly. there's just too much debris to not keep picking it up, even if he's still talking with her]

[She nods, as though that answer alone is enough.] It seems difficult right now. Earthquakes are tricky like that, especially when there are things hiding beneath the rubble.

That's why I need to clear this all away. It can't keep sitting here. [seriously how is the entire city not out in the streets hauling off this stuff? it's demented]

Oh, are you worried about the dust nargles, too? It's safer to wait a while than to clean up right away.

Nargles? [the fuck is a nargle] No. I'm worried about the germs, dust, crookedness, further collapse, shockwaves, tripping, broken lights, rusted metal, tetanus...

[he's going to be going on for a while if you don't stop him]

I would be worried about the nargles before any of that. They're harder to see, you know.

I don't have problems seeing things. If I clean this up then there'll be less to worry about out here. [inside is a different story, but. one step at a time.]

You're very sensitve to messes, aren't you? I think it's rather pretty.

That's one way of putting it. [and then he actually pauses in her work to give her an absolutely withering look] There is nothing pretty about this abomination.

You don't see any art in it? [Most people wouldn't, she supposes.] That's all right, we won't have to worry about nargles or tripping.

There's no art, there's only dirt and dust and trash keeping things uneven and unable to function and impossible for me to go through my day. [mumble grumble grumble]

So I have to fix it because apparently nobody else will.

You could close your eyes until it's clean, or close the blinds. [Now she's curious as to how he'll react to what seems completely logical to her; changing Monk's mind is not a concern.] I'm sure somebody will pick it up eventually, it's rather in the way.

I'll still know that it's there. It has to go now.

[She nods and sits on a nearby rock, apparently watching to see what he'll do next.]

[he continues to clean, moving slowly across a tiny patch of the debris. his methods aren't fast by any means, but they are thorough. he even seems to be sweeping up the dust left behind by the fallen objects.]

You wouldn't appreciate my help, would you?

[She expects not, since his methods are clearly very precise in a way that perhaps only he can reproduce.]
