[OPEN] Earthquake Event
Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.
It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.
The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

Yes. [His voice wavered in the middle of the word, as he discovered that raising his voice was not agreeable with the pain in his side. Confident, however, that he had been heard, he continued--this time without any flinching in any way.] I could use assistance.
[If there's one thing he's good at, it's keeping a level head.]
no subject
My name is Barnaby. Can you tell me your name?
[It was a technique they had taught them at Hero Academy a while ago: keep the injured person talking to see how conscious they were, and remain calm no matter what. He could do this.]
no subject
[He recognized the technique of keeping someone talking, to keep them conscious, and so he internalized his sigh at the question. Even with half a building on top of him, he was still being asked this.] I am called the Warrior of Light. [He assisted in a shove of rubble that brought light onto his face, finally able to look at his rescuer.]
no subject
The Warrior of Light? That's an interesting title; did someone choose it for you?
[He pushed some larger pieces away. The smaller pieces seemed easy to nudge over, but Barnaby wanted to make sure he didn't accidentally jab anything into the person by making reckless movements so he was a little overly cautious about it.]
no subject
Yes. [His voice is only slightly labored, as he helps the movement of twisted lengths of metal.] Cosmos, the goddess of harmony.
no subject
[With all the fancy titles and whatnot, Barnaby figured he also had some interesting position of power. But all of his own speculations and curiosities could wait, and he quickened his pace. For as concerned as he was while removing the larger bits, the glint of the armor's metal provided a bit of relief. At least there was some sort of protection standing between the Warrior and the building.
Of course, there were a lot more concerns, but those could be addressed later as well. With a rather hefty lift, Barnaby moved a large piece off, enough to hopefully free up a limb or two. He could see spots of the ground below. Almost there...]
no subject
[But Barnaby's moving of that chunk of wall has freed his right leg from the uncomfortable position it was caught in--now he can move it under him and begin to simply push himself upright in a show of strength--though he has to stop in barely more than a hunched-over crouch.] My back--there's something-- ["Something" is a metal beam, pressed hard against him and almost certainly the thing that had split his armor--get that away from him, and he'll be pretty much free.]
no subject
[Like the fancier end of a fairy tale. Barnaby was actually rather curious on this individual's world, but he knew he could always ask later when there's more time. He just continued shooing away rubble, until his eyes caught the warrior moving and the rather large piece of metal laying across his back.
Well, that didn't look easy at all. Barnaby really regretted not having his hundred-power right about now. Moving over to the beam, he hooked his arms underneath and began to lift up. It was definitely heavier than he had expected it to be, but he was able to pull it up. He began to move to the left, trying to find a place to lay it down. It was just far too heavy to throw across this way, and he didn't want to make the other man move just yet if he couldn't.]
I'm almost done. Are you injured anywhere?
no subject
[As Barnaby moved the the beam away from him, he began to move himself away from it, almost twisting away--the sharp pain in his side reappeared to complain about this but he ignored it--until between both of their efforts, he could continue until he was upright once more--albeit with pieces of metal that had been respectable plate hanging off of him.] You do not need to worry about me. [He's already undoing what buckles are still holding them on him, and his tone and expression suggest he's far more worried about the wellbeing of his armor than his body.]
no subject
After setting the beam down on the ground, he hurried over and knelt next to the Warrior. That... was a decent set of armor; at least parts of it held, which probably kept him from any major damage. However, he was still stuck underneath a building.]
I think you should see the medics just in case.
no subject
[Oh, and about his injuries--]
I do not think it is urgent. [Finding repair for the armor weighs more heavily on his mind. Besides--] Better that I make myself useful. [He looks over at Barnaby, the severity of his usual expression decreased.] Thank you, Barnaby.
no subject
Alright, if you're sure. But if you feel any after-effects, please see them. [The last thing he wanted was for the person he just rescued to end up being hurt worse or dying after being rescued.]
endtag good?
[He hefts the pieces of plate into a comfortable carrying position, then turns to Barnaby.] Once this is taken care of, I will be working as well. I hope all of your rescues are as painless. [And with that, he's turned to leave.]
works for me!
[He pulls himself to his feet, brushing off his hands on the sides of his jeans.] It was nice meeting you, Warrior. Take care, and be careful!
