[OPEN] Earthquake Event

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

[Ohh, so intelligent! Deryn is incredibly impressed since she doesn't know that there's more to this "dog" than what she can see. Quickly she grabs at the gauze and disinfectant to clean the wound. It might be a good idea to warn the little girl first though...]

I'm sorry, but this is going to hurt a little.

[Oh, this is the not so fun part. She decides to lick the girl's tears away and nuzzle her gently to try drawing more - if not all - attention away from the impending stinging.]

[Deryn wipes away the blood on the girl's leg as she whimpers a bit, but not much and Deryn's grateful for the dog creating a distraction. Once it's cleaned, she sees that it isn't as bad as it first seemed. She drops the gauze in a small pile and begins to to wrap the bandage around the leg, making sure it was tight enough to stop further bleeding.]

[See? That's better. Her tail swishes as she continues nuzzling the girl. Almost done and then they'd get her somewhere else.]

[bellcaptain]

[Deryn ties off the bandage and quickly gathers up all the waste so she can throw it away in a proper place. She smiles at the girl.]

There! Finished! What a brave lass you are.

[She smiles at Amaterasu too, in appreciation.]

[Amaterasu gives the girl another lick before looking up at Dylan and nodding with a small grin.]

[Ah... she turns and closes her supply bag, but then goes back to looking rather pleased.]

[Deryn helps the little girl stand up before turning back to Amaterasu.]

If there'a anything you need to do, I can take her home by myself. It was barking good timing, you coming by when you did. I'm really glad!

['Barking'? Huh... Well, better language than some others she's heard around here.]

[She stands up and nods, giving one more reassuring nudge to the girl before taking a few steps back. Go on then; she'll take one more thorough look around here.]

[Once Deryn is sure on the route to take the girl home, she gives Amaterasu a wave before taking the girl's hand and leading her off. She really did enjoy the strangely intelligent dog's brief company, and hopes she can see it again in the future.]
