[OPEN] Earthquake Event

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

[Vash had just gone down for his mid-morning nap. He was all comfy when something was shaking enough to wake him up, was something landing on the roof? He almost tanked staggering out of bed. The building was swaying?! His first thought- The Nebraska family is attacking. Or somebody ridiculous and able to take out buildings.

One way or another, it was time to move. Vash grabs his coat, slings it over his jammies and his slippers, grabs his gun and busts out into the hall to stop whatever assailant is attacking.]

[[Down towards the lobby way, Bakura, sporting some fresh bruises and a thin layer of dust from a building that he had just missed being under when it fell, was rushing towards the stairs to get up to his apartment, worried for Ulthar. He's.. not exactly looking where he's going, so the chances of physically running into Vash are high!]]

[Vash was banging down the stairs, moving full tilt when he turns a corner and almost slams into Bakura. Vash grabs him by the shoulders before the young man collides head on.]

There you are! What's going on?!

[shiromadoushi]

[[There's a very girly sounding squeak at the grab as Bakura's startled out of his worry-honed focus.]]

Earthquake! Ulthar's still up in the room, need to make sure she's okay!

[[If it had been enough to send a building tumbling (even if it was old) what would it have done to his apartment? If something on the shelf had fallen over and landed on his kitten...!]]

Earthquake?

[So.... we're not under attack? But- KITTEN!]

Then we need to check on her, then check the rest of the building for everyone else!

[No time to delay! Vash scoops up Bakura, throws him over a shoulder and begins racing up the steps.]

[[And another startled sound as Bakura reflex clings, eyes huge. After a second he ducks his head low, just in case. Vash was taller than him, after all!

And there may be a very faint blush by the time they got to his door. Mostly from embarrassment. He didn't often get carried around like this!]]

[At least Vash moves pretty fast for the embarrassment. And Bakura gets put down at his door.]

What happened outside? Did anything collapse?

[[a nod as he fumbles with his key a moment.]] There was one of the empty buildings not to far from here... [[a click as the door unlocks and he's going to ignore Vash a moment]]

Ulthar! Come on out! [[calling as he rushes in.

Thankfully, the damage is minor, only a few things that got knocked over, a pair of books that feel into Ulthar's basket of toys, a few broken dishes in the kitchen that had been ejected from the cabinets. As for the kitten in question, there's a cranky sounding meow before she darts out from the bedroom and attempts to run up her human's leg, only to be caught and pulled up into a gentle hug]]

So glad... [[sighs in utter relief.]]
