Description: Sugata breaks the news to Takuto that he's pregnant moving out and living with Nanami.

When Sugata made the decision to move out, that was back when they weren't talking. And now that they've made up and moved past this he... can't help but feel guilty that he's leaving Takuto. He knows how fragile the other can get, and really got used to being able to keep a closer eye on him. But, at the same time, he made a promise to Nanami. And he'd rather not go back on his word.

He heaves a heavy sigh as he waits for Takuto to get back from his shift with the watch. He knows he probably should have told the other sooner, but they all had such a great time at the gala. He didn't want to ruin that for Takuto. Not after things finally got better. He still didn't really know how he'd bring it up to the other either.

As he waits and tries to figure out how he's going to bring this up, he absentmindedly starts petting the dog. You know something's eating away at Sugata when he starts petting the dog of his own free will.

He's in a decently good mood when he gets home. His shift wasn't too tiring but it also hadn't been entirely boring, but as soon as the door closes behind him, he can tell something is up. The signs--the lingering sound of a sigh, the lack of a puppy happily greeting him at the door, Sugata sitting still on the couch with the tv off--don't register consciously, but Takuto is suddenly a little wary.

"I'm home!" He calls out, wondering if he'd actually get a response, and then without actually waiting, he blurts out, "Is everything okay?"

The sudden noise of a door slamming instantly tears him from his thoughts as he jumps a little. Looking at the time he should have known that Takuto would be getting home by now. But, seeing as he had been preoccupied he sort of lost track of time. He whips his head to the side and offers Takuto a small smile.

"Welcome back." He pauses at the question not really knowing how to answer it. "It... Sort of? Everything's fine, but I have something important I need to tell you." Another pause as he scoots over a little, he pats the couch.

The wariness doesn't leave him. But he tries to act nonchalant as he sits beside his friend, greeting his dog with a soft pat, and trying to figure out what it could be that Sugata is about to tell him.

He can't help but think of his recent conversation with Cupid--or what Ryou had said, for that matter--but he sets a serious expression on his face as he looks at his friend.

"What's up?"

He breathes in heavily, in some hope that it would steel his nerves a little, as he turns his body a little so that he's facing Takuto. "I want you to know that this decision was made when we weren't... exactly talking to each other. And if I could go back now and change it I would, but I gave her my word." he pauses as to pick a little at his pants. "I'm moving in with Nanami."

He blinks a little.

This wasn't at all what he'd been expecting Sugata's important news to be, though in some ways perhaps Sugata moving out was always to be expected. Still... he's unprepared for how the news seems to cut him rather like... well, rather like a knife (which is fitting given Sugata's weapon form).

And it's only worse that he prefaced the news with when he had made the decision.

"So you... when you said that I can't shut you out because you'll always be there for me, you'd already made plans to leave?" Some part of him knows that this line of questioning is really unfair, but he can't help it. He knows he shouldn't feel like he's been betrayed, but that doesn't stop him from feeling that way.

His expression drops a little at the accusation. "I would never want to leave you, Takuto. But you kept avoiding me. What was I supposed to think other than you not wanting to be around me? The last thing I wanted to do was to hurt you. I thought it would help you if I was gone and out of your hair instead of being around you constantly." He shakes his head.

"Did you know I spent some nights over at Sasha's and Yako's when we had our fight?"

He drops his eyes, finding himself entirely unable to meet Sugata's amber ones. His gaze catches on Sugata's cast for a moment--yet another reminder of what a terrible friend Takuto has been. "It wasn't... it wasn't you...." But hopefully Sugata knows that already, so it's kind of a moot point and besides, what Sugata's saying finally gets into his brain.

"No. I thought you were here, on the couch." He feels ridiculous now, as well as guilty.

He reaches out and places his hand on top of Takuto's. "Whether it was me or this reminding you that you were a bad friend, which you aren't. If I even see you think that I might have to slap you with this cast of mine. Anyway-" he shakes his head. "I didn't want to see you beat yourself up over it. So I thought if I removed myself from the problem it would help. But then we managed to talk things out. I still want to live with you, but I made Nanami a promise. And it would be mean to ditch her suddenly after I agreed to previously."

"Besides, it's not like I'm moving into another state. I'm just moving a little across town. We lived separately before on the island back home. I'm sure we'll be able to do it here."

He nods. Sugata is right--it's not the end of the world by any stretch. Though it's oddly comforting as well as a little frustrating that Sugata can read him so clearly.

He takes a deep breath, trying to remind himself that his apartment was really only designed for two people and they'd been cramming three in for quite some time. Knowing Nanami, the place she'd chosen was probably large enough to remind Sugata a little of home....

"So... Nanami, huh?" He frowns suddenly. "You're not--I mean, why her?" It isn't that Sugata has some kind of crush on her? Or because Nanami feels that way about him, right???

He squeezes the other's hand in that comforting way Sugata does best with. But he's glad they were able to get over this hurdle together. He pulls away after a little while and sinks back into the couch in relief.

His brows quirk as he looks at Takuto. Did he...really just... ask that question? He gives a quiet chuckle and shakes his head. If only he knew. "No, rest assured I do not have those kind of feelings for Nanami." he paused as he scratched his nose. "If I remember it correctly, she asked me. And at that time I agreed with her. But it's not like I'll be living alone with her either, someone else will be living with us as well."

He gave Sugata's hand a brief squeeze in return and then followed suit relaxing into the couch, complete with a somewhat heavy sigh. Things were going to feel a little different with Sugata no longer in the apartment.

And then he manages to look a little sheepish. "Well, I wouldn't know if you did or didn't! It seemed kind of random to me--you're both weapons so it's not for any resonance reasons, obviously. But I guess if she just wanted another roommate...." He shrugs, and then smiles. "She has a big, fancy place, doesn't she." It's kind of a question, but mostly it's just pointing out to Sugata that he will always be a rich boy who wants to live in a mansion.

"I'd like to think you'd be able to tell when I have feelings for someone." He could, at least. Though he's very doubtful Takuto would be able to see something like that. If he did... well... they wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

"I believe she does, but I'm not completely sure." He pauses. He sees exactly where that train of thought was going. Wow, rude. See if he'll invite you over now! What with that extra bed in his room and all... anyway- "It's not right for a woman to live all alone in a big house like that. Besides, now I don't have to leave whenever my roommate wants to get lucky."

His face reddens at that last comment, but there's no way he can deny it being true. He's probably being pretty unfair to his friend with all of that. (And he still has no idea exactly how unfair it really is because of the being oblivious thing. But let's face it--Takuto usually has trouble deciphering his own feelings so how is he supposed to catch on to Sugata's?) So he'll just keep picking on Sugata for his rich boy upbringing.

"Are you sure you aren't going to try to con her into being your maid?" This is funny because he knows Nanami and knows that it would never ever work.

He takes great joy in making his friend squirm. He probably shouldn't since karma will bite him later for that, but justice is served, etc etc. But one of these days he'll find out. It probably won't be pretty either. (and I have a feeling it'll involve booze somehow.) So for now he'll just keep those feelings to himself and watch from the sidelines, like he always does.

He looks flatly at Takuto upon hearing his next question. "Why would I con her into something like that? I never conned Tiger and Jaguar back home. They were hired on by my parents." And, wow that strikes a really bad chord with him. There's a good reason why he hardly mentions his parents anymore.

Takuto is no stranger to how unpleasant a topic parents is, so he's not going to focus on that.

"Yes, but who will wash your back for you?" If you're going to tease him about whatever he does with Yako, then he's going to tease you about this.

"I've managed this far, I think I'll be alright." He knew he shouldn't have mentioned that when they were playing that game, but whatever. Takuto you're just jealous. "But if I can't then I can just force you to do it. Since you're so concerned and all."

[tauborn]

He sticks out his tongue. He's not jealous. Some day soon he might get the courage to ask Yako to wash his back for him. Then they'll find out who the jealous one is!!

"Too bad you're moving out then! I'm not coming all the way over to your place to wash your back!"

The truth is that this kind of laughing and teasing is just what he needs in order to deal with the fact that Sugata is actually leaving him.

If you do that don't tell him. Or he really will be jealous, ahahaha....hah...ha. He crosses his arms and turns his head to the side.

"Technically I'm not leaving until the 29th, or so. You'll have time."

[tauborn]

"You can wash your own back." He folds his arms across his chest. "I'm not going to spoil you any more than you've already been spoiled." He pauses, his expression changing to something a little more like pouting but more contemplative.

"It'd be nice to go to the hot springs sometime if it ever cools down again, though...."

For someone so persistent on me getting my back washed, I'm starting to wonder if you're the one who wants their back washed." He tilts his head a little and offers takuto a playful smile.

"A hot spring visit would be nice though..."

[tauborn]

"Why? Do you think my back is dirty or something?" He turns a shoulder towards Sugata, almost as if he's inviting his friend to check. His back is perfectly clean, though! He's gone his entire life without a backwasher, and he doesn't actually need one... though showering with Yako seems more and more appealing the more he thinks about it.

"I think Yako and Sasha wanted to go to the hot springs when it cooled down a bit, too...." Though who knows if Sasha will still want to hang around Takuto after Yako has her talk with him. He doesn't know when that talk is happening, but he figures that as soon as it does, Sasha will start giving him a really cold shoulder or horrible, loathsome glares (so it must not have happened yet).

"You never know. There are spots you can't reach by yourself." He says with a shrug. Though really, Takuto? It's not like he can see that for himself with that shirt on. Not that he's inviting the other to take his shirt off. Because hah, just... no.

"That would be nice." He pauses as he hums a little to himself. "To get a little group together and all go down." They hardly opened up their hot springs time to anyone else, other than occasionally joking around with Wako. But that would be nice.

Also Sasha maaay or may not want to kick Takuto for making Sugata sleep on the couch when they had their fight. Just... throwin' that out there.

I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out....

So all it means is that Sasha has way more reasons for giving Takuto bodily harm than Takuto suspects.

He nods a little uncertainly but tries to make it look natural. "We could invite Mizuno and Nanami, too." You know, so Yako won't feel so alone.

Yuuup, sorry Takuto. He can't save you from that one....

He looks up and nods. "I'm sure they would both love that."

He nods and then sighs, but there's still a small smile on his face. "You know, it's going to be weird not having you in the apartment." Even if he'd spent a whole week ignoring you and you weren't even there for part of it, it'll be weird not having Sugata around at all.
