Characters: The Disciple and you!
Location: The Diner in the Outer Residential Area
Rating: G
Time: April 12th, afternoon
Description: Di is treating herself today, and would definitely be up for some company. She might have even invited your character to join her today.
Adjusting to life in Death City had taken a while, but Disciple would very quickly admit that she had come to love it here. It was such an odd little down with so much to offer, no matter how much she had seen of it there always seemed something new to discover. It was perhaps not the safest place to live, but safety was something that had never really been a part of her life. Indeed, until the recent attack on the city and Nocturne Bazaar, the way the war impacted this city had seemed to be nonexistant.
Still, all in all it was a place where she had enjoyable constants, could always find something new, had her family and new people to meet and new things and places to learn about. At the moment she couldn't really think of much more that she wanted.
Currently she was at the diner, seated at one of the tables outside so she could enjoy the weather. The sun no longer bothered her--and thank goodness it was nowhere near as strong as the one on Alternia had been--and she actually had to admit to liking the feel of it tickling her skin. On her table were, unsurprisingly some books on various subjects and she was currently scribbling away in a notebook of her own.

“What in the Sam Hill?” she mumbled to herself. A goblin? Or a gnome maybe?
It wasn’t that unusual creatures like goblins, gnomes, and faeries didn’t exist in Lily’s world—as a witch, she knew they did even if most normal humans believed them to only be fairy tales.
It was that these types of creatures generally didn’t sit outside diners on sunny days with stacks of books and scribbling in notebooks, where they could be easily seen by normal humans!

Most of the residents of Death City had long since gotten use to trolls, but still every once in a while she got stares so Disciple did not mind. Especially not since she had gawked at humans when she had first come here.
The olive troll held out the posters she had gathered, giving them a curious look before raising her gaze to the young woman before her. She gave her a kindly smile.
"Here."
How tall is Di? I just realized I don't know how troll heights are compared to humans...
"Um, thanks." She accepted the papers sheepishly, speaking in a Texas accented voice. "Pardon me but what are you? A goblin of some sort?"
Even though she had been in Death City for about three months, Lily hadn't seen any similar gray-skinned beings before now. She didn't look to be a gargoyle. Nor did she resemble Lily's familiar Oscar, who had a scaly greenish gray hide.
Trolls vary a lot in height, though Di herself is fairly small somewhere in the 5'4 range?
"I'm a troll." She explained, standing up and holding out a hand to shake her hand.
She couldn't help but have glanced at the papers before Lily took them back.
"You are opening a store?"
Ah, okay. Just about an inch shorter than Lily then!
"A troll? But I thought such beings lived far from humans..." Or that was what the folklore of her world said anyway. The witch had never met a troll before, either back home or here, but this one seemed well mannered. Looking more closely now, she found the creature was around her own height, considerably taller than any goblin she had ever met back home.
new computer finally gotten, so tags wont be super delayed anymore
"I've read a little bit of the trolls that humans believe in." It warranted a small laugh on her part that turned into a cough.
"Sorry. You are partly right. We do not live near humans, but that is because where we come from there are no humans. When I first came here, it was the first time I had ever seen or even heard of them."
Back from hiatus. Sorry this is so overdue! We can handwave if it's been too long for you.
No humans? And it didn't sound as if it was just in the area where she lived. "There were no humans at all in your world? Where did you come from exactly?"
"Oh, and my name's Lily, by the way," she added, sheepishly realizing she hadn't introduced herself.
[OOC: Sorry about the long wait! I was getting into a slow period due to working on cosplay things around the time you got the new computer and was trying to prioritize more recent threads, then was on hiatus for a couple of weeks. I've been back a few days but have been slow to catch up since I'm still getting over a cold. It's been a long time so we can handwave if you'd prefer.]
No worries! I know how RL can be and I'd love to continue

"What's this Alternia like?" It wasn't any planet that Lily had ever heard of. "And I come from Earth, well, not the one here. The geography seems about the same as this world but there's less weird stuff." It was a fib. "...Um, no demons running around and such." Actually, there were lots of supernatural things in Lily's world, they just tended to stay hidden from normal humans and only reveal themselves to paranormals like her.
btw, would you be at all interested in lily being a bridesmaid for di? :D
"Geographically speaking it's completely different from here. Our culture is largely homogenous so 'countries' are not really something that exist where we come from. We have two moons, and a sun that is much bigger and hotter than the one here so trolls are a nocturnal species with few exceptions."
She considered where to go from there. "We live under the rule of an Empress and have a strict hierarchical system defined by the hemospectrum, a system that creates castes by blood type. It is composed of twelve different kinds, and easily identified by color."
She frowned a little "It's not an especially friendly environment, comparatively speaking, but it's home."
I imagine Lily would be quite excited if asked!
"But why should it matter so much? And it's not as if you can tell what someone's blood looks like just by looking at them." This world certainly didn't sound very friendly.
[OOC: I actually saw mention of the wedding thing in the last CR meme but didn't get around to commenting there. In the first book, Lily actually had a bride and her dozen bridesmaids come to the shop to all pick out vintage dresses for a wedding! She was kind of an outcast most of her life so she was excited just to be invited to that wedding. So, she'd probably be thrilled if asked to be a bridesmaid.]
