[He should probably get this stupid detail out the way. It didn't seem like it mattered when he first arrived, but after learning a few things, he was forced to change his mind. Besides, if he was a Weapon, he was certain Bumblebee would love to push him down the stairs.]
snipingyourfail: (those aren't diamonds)

[This would be her first time seeing the new robot up close. She knows Bumblebee, of course, and she's read the initial reports from the science division, the write-ups from the technicians they've assigned to (discreetly) take notes on each batch of newcomers--purely for record-keeping and identification purposes--but notes and reports and knowing about one friendly yellow robot isn't... quite like meeting the aforementioned robot personally.

Azusa keeps her face carefully blank as she takes in all the gleaming silver and the threatening red eyes. And all the sharp edges--somehow a lot more menacing than Bumblebee's blocky design.]
badcop: (i bet you think you're funny)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-08-16 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[The only thing Barricade had to offset all those sharp edges were the bold POLICE decals decorating the panels on his arms. The camouflage worked best when he could transform, unfortunately, but he could at least pretend he only looked scary because he was alien.

He instantly recognized Azusa as the native he'd had the pleasure of speaking to on the network, and for a moment he considered walking away. Switching gears and playing nice with Fabiola had been necessary thanks to her connection to Bumblebee. He wasn't certain he wanted to deal with Azusa, but he didn't want to put off the Meister/Weapon verdict for much longer.]

You're the one I see about what I am?
snipingyourfail: (that is a possibility)

[personal profile] snipingyourfail 2012-08-20 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. My name is Azusa Yumi. I'm one of those with the Soul Perception skill.

[She's tilting her head back, and wondering how she missed the police emblems--maybe because the mere idea of an alien robotic society having something so human as a police force isn't making any sense to her, much less the idea of one of them liking the occupation so much that he'd tattoo it all over his body.]

I can check if you're a meister or a weapon. That would require me to look at your soul, however. Will you allow it?

badcop: (Intimidate)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-08-20 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[If people went on thinking he was an actual police officer, in any capacity, then it just made things easier for him. It had allowed him to get in and out of areas most other Decepticons would have had trouble with, after all. He'd like to keep that bonus here.]

Barricade. [She gets a brief nod to get the pleasantries over with.] Depends on what it involves.
snipingyourfail: (now analyzing)

[personal profile] snipingyourfail 2012-08-21 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing, on your part. It is exactly what it sounds like: I will be looking at your soul to check for the traits that will indicate if you're a meister or a weapon. There are people who feel that it is too intrusive, so I prefer asking for permission first.

[Not that she's actually had anyone refuse to have their souls looked at. Necessity trumping even their mistrust...

There's also nothing stopping her from actually taking a peek without anyone ever finding out that she's already staring at their souls, but Azusa isn't so crass as to do that without good reason. She keeps her gaze firmly directed upwards, at the oddly-shaped face.]
badcop: (killed the good cop)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-08-21 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[That was it? Not bad, considering the line up he'd seen back in the Kishin Chamber. This seemed like the better way to do, even if he had to deal with Azusa. Hopefully she'd make it quick.]

Permission granted, in that case.
snipingyourfail: (senrigan go!)

[Most people aren't aware of how truly intrusive Soul Perception can be, especially if done by practitioners with a high degree of skill, such as Maka, Stein or herself--not only can they see if someone is a meister or a weapon, but any information a person might seek to conceal, such as age and power, character, even their alignment--she can see it all if she digs hard enough, stares at a person's soul long enough.

The only perceptible sign of her triggering the ability is the slight glow of power that flashes in her eyes at the moment of activation, and perhaps the ends of her hair being stirred by some unseen wind. What Azusa sees at first glance is disconcerting: a black soul and red eyes, all jagged lines. Still, that's just the appearance, and can probably be dismissed as a mere reflection of what Barricade looks like, but Azusa cannot avoid catching hold of other information as she sifts for the traits she needs to classify the robot as meister or weapon.

Dangerous. That's the feeling she's getting from the soul, like Stein on a really, really bad day. She fights the urge to dig more, and immediately backs out the moment she has her answer. She blinks, as if clearing her eyes of dust, and then looks up, face as benignly polite as it was before.]

Weapon. You're a weapon. Exactly what type, I cannot tell--it's something you'll have to find out for yourself.
badcop: (Sinister plotting)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-08-27 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[If he'd known just how deep Azusa could see, he definitely would have walked away and been happy not knowing for awhile yet. Still, one of his best defenses was being virtually unapproachable even when he was pretending to be nice. So long as no one ever got too close, he could hide a lot things easily.

Barricade held still as Azusa stared him down, assuming it wasn't unlike a routine scan. Her verdict, though - well, that left a sour look on his face. And that was saying something. Fantastic - his odds of having to genuinely work alongside a human had just increased exponentially. He really hated this place.]

More good news every day. [He practically snarled that, but it wasn't aimed at Azusa. With any luck his weapon form - which would likely not be his Mustang alt mode - was specifically tailored towards destruction. He could stand to rip some things apart right now.]
snipingyourfail: (Hm.)

[personal profile] snipingyourfail 2012-09-02 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[The reaction is common enough that she's not too surprised, but she can't help raising an inquiring eyebrow at the outburst. She has to wonder, too, if this has anything to do with the information she managed to glean from her quick scan--that face is just too inhuman for her to make out any definite features she can use to read expressions from.]

Something about being a weapon displeases you?
badcop: (unamused)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-09-03 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Besides everything? She'd probably heard it a million times over by now, so he decided to go the route everybody else did - complain about it. Playing dumb was always a nice was to avoid arousing suspicions.]

Just sick of being used, is all.
snipingyourfail: (can't stand waiting)

[personal profile] snipingyourfail 2012-09-09 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[She frowns, and wonders why she's getting the feeling that he's not being entirely truthful.]

You seem to be operating under the assumption that weapons are submissive to meisters. That is wrong. The meister moves and shares his or her wavelength, the weapon provides the means of attack and the amplification that shapes their combined wavelengths into something capable of damaging the enemy. It is an equal, symbiotic relationship, and one cannot succeed without the other.
badcop: (hmn)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-09-10 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Barricade lying is like the sun rising. Fact of life. Still, the comparison to symbiosis seems to interest him, since it's familiar territory. Mostly. He didn't consider himself necessarily equal with Frenzy, but the relationship had been mutually beneficial.]

Sounds better, except I'm hardwired to be the host. Being the other half of the equation doesn't sit that well with me.
snipingyourfail: (can't stand waiting)

[personal profile] snipingyourfail 2012-09-17 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Azusa shakes her head at the misconceptions constantly sabotaging their efforts to raise weapons who could be proud of their abilities.]

I urge you to change that mindset to fit how weapons and meisters are regarded here. The meister isn't the host. The weapon isn't some sort of parasite. In fact, weapons are the ones with offensive power in any partnership. Most meisters have their own abilities, but they are technically just humans with stronger soul wavelengths. There are some meisters who are capable of dealing damage on their own, but those cases are very few.
badcop: (Taunt | Come get some)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-09-19 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[It was amazing how much information he could get out of her just by being obstinate. Last time she'd gotten a little too much out of him, though, so he needs to watch it.]

I get that the meister/weapon relationship has a different dynamic, it's just a matter of - like you said - changing my mindset. There's nothing really comparable to it where I'm from. But, the meisters that can stand on their own - they're natives, I'm assuming.
snipingyourfail: (that is a possibility)

[personal profile] snipingyourfail 2012-09-24 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Should Barricade ever try to apply himself to researching these things on his own, he'll find out that everything she's said is common knowledge, easily obtained through 1-star level clearances.]

Only because they've been training for most of their lives. But even independent technicians are rare; they would need specific abilities and the kind of skill set that would allow them to inflict damage without resonating with a weapon.
badcop: (urgh)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-09-25 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[He'd rather hear it straight from someone. Besides, you really didn't want to let Barricade near the library with those claws.]

Fair enough. I think that about covers what I needed to know.

[For now. Hopefully she wasn't waiting for a 'thank you'.]
snipingyourfail: (Hm.)

[personal profile] snipingyourfail 2012-09-30 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, that wasn't so bad. He isn't as argumentative as some of the guests she'd talked to lately, for one thing.]

Is there anything else?
badcop: (killed the good cop)

[personal profile] badcop 2012-10-01 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's it. Catch you later, then.

[She was too sharp for him to risk using the same goodbye that he had on the network, otherwise it might have been fun. With a dismissive wave, he turned to go wander the training field for the rest of the morning.]
