Azusa keeps her face carefully blank as she takes in all the gleaming silver and the threatening red eyes. And all the sharp edges--somehow a lot more menacing than Bumblebee's blocky design.]
no subject
He instantly recognized Azusa as the native he'd had the pleasure of speaking to on the network, and for a moment he considered walking away. Switching gears and playing nice with Fabiola had been necessary thanks to her connection to Bumblebee. He wasn't certain he wanted to deal with Azusa, but he didn't want to put off the Meister/Weapon verdict for much longer.]
You're the one I see about what I am?
no subject
[She's tilting her head back, and wondering how she missed the police emblems--maybe because the mere idea of an alien robotic society having something so human as a police force isn't making any sense to her, much less the idea of one of them liking the occupation so much that he'd tattoo it all over his body.]
I can check if you're a meister or a weapon. That would require me to look at your soul, however. Will you allow it?
no subject
Barricade. [She gets a brief nod to get the pleasantries over with.] Depends on what it involves.
no subject
[Not that she's actually had anyone refuse to have their souls looked at. Necessity trumping even their mistrust...
There's also nothing stopping her from actually taking a peek without anyone ever finding out that she's already staring at their souls, but Azusa isn't so crass as to do that without good reason. She keeps her gaze firmly directed upwards, at the oddly-shaped face.]
no subject
Permission granted, in that case.
no subject
The only perceptible sign of her triggering the ability is the slight glow of power that flashes in her eyes at the moment of activation, and perhaps the ends of her hair being stirred by some unseen wind. What Azusa sees at first glance is disconcerting: a black soul and red eyes, all jagged lines. Still, that's just the appearance, and can probably be dismissed as a mere reflection of what Barricade looks like, but Azusa cannot avoid catching hold of other information as she sifts for the traits she needs to classify the robot as meister or weapon.
Dangerous. That's the feeling she's getting from the soul, like Stein on a really, really bad day. She fights the urge to dig more, and immediately backs out the moment she has her answer. She blinks, as if clearing her eyes of dust, and then looks up, face as benignly polite as it was before.]
Weapon. You're a weapon. Exactly what type, I cannot tell--it's something you'll have to find out for yourself.
no subject
Barricade held still as Azusa stared him down, assuming it wasn't unlike a routine scan. Her verdict, though - well, that left a sour look on his face. And that was saying something. Fantastic - his odds of having to genuinely work alongside a human had just increased exponentially. He really hated this place.]
More good news every day. [He practically snarled that, but it wasn't aimed at Azusa. With any luck his weapon form - which would likely not be his Mustang alt mode - was specifically tailored towards destruction. He could stand to rip some things apart right now.]
no subject
Something about being a weapon displeases you?
no subject
Just sick of being used, is all.
no subject
You seem to be operating under the assumption that weapons are submissive to meisters. That is wrong. The meister moves and shares his or her wavelength, the weapon provides the means of attack and the amplification that shapes their combined wavelengths into something capable of damaging the enemy. It is an equal, symbiotic relationship, and one cannot succeed without the other.
no subject
Sounds better, except I'm hardwired to be the host. Being the other half of the equation doesn't sit that well with me.
no subject
I urge you to change that mindset to fit how weapons and meisters are regarded here. The meister isn't the host. The weapon isn't some sort of parasite. In fact, weapons are the ones with offensive power in any partnership. Most meisters have their own abilities, but they are technically just humans with stronger soul wavelengths. There are some meisters who are capable of dealing damage on their own, but those cases are very few.
no subject
I get that the meister/weapon relationship has a different dynamic, it's just a matter of - like you said - changing my mindset. There's nothing really comparable to it where I'm from. But, the meisters that can stand on their own - they're natives, I'm assuming.
no subject
Only because they've been training for most of their lives. But even independent technicians are rare; they would need specific abilities and the kind of skill set that would allow them to inflict damage without resonating with a weapon.
no subject
Fair enough. I think that about covers what I needed to know.
[For now. Hopefully she wasn't waiting for a 'thank you'.]
no subject
Is there anything else?
no subject
[She was too sharp for him to risk using the same goodbye that he had on the network, otherwise it might have been fun. With a dismissive wave, he turned to go wander the training field for the rest of the morning.]
