The life of a Ghost [OPEN]

Characters: Sarah Kerrigan ([personal profile] ghostofaqueen) & OPEN
Location: In and Around the DOGS office
Rating: PG
Time: January 19th
Description: Sarah doesn't appear often in the public areas around the office, but she's scoping out possible entry points and in the mood to be bothered... or bother people walking by.

Cross posted to Livejournal as well.

While she had always been assured of the state of security around the building, there were times when a military woman just had to look herself. It satisfied her that no one had made an attack on Death City in a long while and that meant that the building that the Watch was situated in was technically very secure. It would be even more secure when Tassadar had put on the finishing touches on the generator as well.

Still, she observed the windows and ledges from the ground before doing the same analysis from the roof of the building and then from the buildings surrounding the Watch. Of course, it was always interesting to watch people come and go from the doors and moving around like this was some kind of communal gathering area.

Using her fingers, she could easily line up some of the people and just... take that shot. It would be a simple shot, but of course, she wasn't allowed to carry a sniper rifle within the city confines. For some reason, people got nervous when a trained sniper wandered around on rooftops with a loaded weapon. She couldn't understand why, she thought with a snort.

Of course, sweeping the outside of the building almost meant that she was required to sweep inside as well. She had no qualms about walking into closed office doors and then out again when she was satisfied. She had even less qualms about prowling the halls looking for suspicious characters. Oh she wanted one so badly, but Roy had a problem with blood on the floor, so she'd have to drag them outside if she wanted to interrogate.

During that period, Roy watched it from over his cigarette, saying nothing. Her answer did not surprise him.

"Still thinking about it." A beat. "Why?"

It needed to be asked, even if he could guess at what she might be thinking.
thewarisover: (don't bow your head.)

"No, I wouldn't. Some of the others seem convinced that they need to go back, though, in spite of whatever's waiting for them back at home."

Who knew, really, what would happen if they decided to remain behind? Would worlds change? Would the balance be disrupted?

Did such a balance even exist?

"Oh? That does sound like an interesting theory."

And one that would settle a lot of unsettled hearts, at any rate. His included.

Roy tilted his head, glancing over at Kerrigan for a moment before responding. When he did, it was with a small smile.

"I suppose we're allowed to believe what we will, right? Especially if it helps us get the job done."
thewarisover: (a whisper)

Roy took one last drag of his cigarette, and exhaled in what he hoped didn't sound like a sigh.

"Well, enough of that. Got any plans for today?"
thewarisover: (lol yay.)

"I've been going home to do that, like a proper human being."

His tone was a little wry at that point, but he had to admit: a bed was so much better than that cot at the back, or his chair.

"I hope you've been doing the same these days."
thewarisover: (couldn't agree with you more.)

"Can't exactly argue with that."

Sarah had been like a machine, during their first mission together. Roy did have to wonder about the kind of training she had been put through, to make her that tough, that resilient...

To his credit, he had not done so bad, keeping up with her.

"You'll keep me posted if you find anything interesting, of course."

Kerrigan, after all, had eyes on the network, among other things.
thewarisover: (actually enjoying this conversation)

That made Roy chuckle as he thumbed out another cigarette.

"Yes, I suppose you're an inspiration to us all."

He'd be on the rooftop for a bit longer, from the looks of it.
thewarisover: (happy phantom.)

"Maybe so, but the pain's gradual. I'd rather like not having to end up doubled over for most of the day."

He kind of liked it when Kerrigan nagged, honestly.

(What was Roy Mustang's life.)

"Someday, but not now, right?"

Yeah, he was pushing his luck. And maybe that was why he was rather abruptly changing the subject.

"It's nice, you know. Being able to talk like this."

Odd how he could get so damned serious all of a sudden, eh?
thewarisover: (happy phantom.)

"We should. It'll help me remember how to be a proper human being, at any rate."

And Sarah did want that, right?
thewarisover: (well i'll be...)

"'Interesting' does not quite begin to cut it. Still, it's been a long, long time since we've had anyone truly worrisome come around."

His initial months in Death City had been 'interesting' in the very bad way, with Adachi. Jonathan Crane and others.
