The life of a Ghost [OPEN]

Characters: Sarah Kerrigan ([personal profile] ghostofaqueen) & OPEN
Location: In and Around the DOGS office
Rating: PG
Time: January 19th
Description: Sarah doesn't appear often in the public areas around the office, but she's scoping out possible entry points and in the mood to be bothered... or bother people walking by.

Cross posted to Livejournal as well.

While she had always been assured of the state of security around the building, there were times when a military woman just had to look herself. It satisfied her that no one had made an attack on Death City in a long while and that meant that the building that the Watch was situated in was technically very secure. It would be even more secure when Tassadar had put on the finishing touches on the generator as well.

Still, she observed the windows and ledges from the ground before doing the same analysis from the roof of the building and then from the buildings surrounding the Watch. Of course, it was always interesting to watch people come and go from the doors and moving around like this was some kind of communal gathering area.

Using her fingers, she could easily line up some of the people and just... take that shot. It would be a simple shot, but of course, she wasn't allowed to carry a sniper rifle within the city confines. For some reason, people got nervous when a trained sniper wandered around on rooftops with a loaded weapon. She couldn't understand why, she thought with a snort.

Of course, sweeping the outside of the building almost meant that she was required to sweep inside as well. She had no qualms about walking into closed office doors and then out again when she was satisfied. She had even less qualms about prowling the halls looking for suspicious characters. Oh she wanted one so badly, but Roy had a problem with blood on the floor, so she'd have to drag them outside if she wanted to interrogate.

It was up on the rooftops where Selendis found her, taking imaginary shots at imaginary targets. With the DOGS office located right in her district, Selendis was used to seeing all members of the Watch come and go, Kerrigan included. She rarely approached her, though, and they hadn't spoken since the last time the ghost had interrupted her conversation with Riza.

Selendis watched her work for a few minutes before deciding to engage her in conversation. She owed that much to Tassadar, and the woman had been fairly subdued since... well, the Queen of Blades was a heavy topic.

"En Taro Adun, Sarah Kerrigan." She was going to keep it simple to start.

Selendis didn't come too close, stopping a few yards away from the woman. They had achieved some level of familiarity, but there were still a lot of lines she wasn't prepared to cross.

"You have proven capable enough," was her response to the first statement. She saw no need to go into detail beyond that. "We owe our victory to the combined efforts of the many fine warriors in this city. It was not a simple battle, but the success shows promise."

It was still a far cry from a proper army in her opinion, but it was an improvement.

Elena had gone out and was practicing some of the skills she had learned as a Turk. Nothing illegal, of course, but some of the fundamentals she needed, hoping not to lose any of her abilities while sitting around this city. She hadn't had a challenge in a while so she decided to give herself just that, not realizing that she had gotten close to the DOGS office.

Selendis found she didn't really care for the smile Sarah gave her. Maybe it had been a mistake coming to talk to her. She watched her sit down, but made no move to be any less relaxed than a statue.

"It translates directly to 'In honor of Adun'. We remember and honor our greatest heroes in every greeting," she said. Since the end of the first war, Adun had been replaced by Tassadar, but that wasn't really necessary here. "That is why the emitters were a top priority. The madness wavelength is dangerous enough before being amplified."

She had firsthand experience with that, though she'd never discuss it with Kerrigan.

Vash was actually in the office for a change today. Mainly, he'd been neglecting his reports and since they were all due, he had to figure out a clever way to say "Not a damn thing happened" seven different ways.

He was stuck on Thursday, and was currently occupying himself by spinning in a desk chair in a kneeling position, pen held between his lip and nose. He wore a most studious expression of deep concentration. He was also getting a bit dizzy.

Roy, in the meantime, was up on the rooftop of the building where the DOGS Office was located. He was taking his customary cigarette break after trolling the network and seeing everyone to their shifts.

It was a pretty nice day, in his opinion. Quiet, slow. Almost enough to trick a man into thinking that all was well.

Vash swung the chair to a full stop, maintaining his pen-mustache. Vash had a pretty strong stomach as long as he was sober. Today, he was.

"I don't know... that sure sounds like a challenge." He intoned, flashing a grin. "We could always have foam-dart fights between shifts!"

"Aw, come on! You don't have to be like that! Don't you like to have even a little fun?" Vash dropped the pen into his hand and tucked it behind an ear. He was still grinning shamelessly. "If we can't shoot civilians we can at least shoot each other~"

Whether Vash was the sort of person who liked to run in front of bulls in that red coat of his, or if he was a true idiot, well. That remained to be seen.

"That's good to hear. And no, I'm still thinking on it."

Good thing he was almost done. Roy put out his cigarette and smiled at his new companion.

"Hi, Sarah."

You'd think living as long as Vash had, on a planet where the daily death toll was usually in the triple digits would get to a guy and make him somewhat cynical and jaded to the ways of the world. The reality was, moments like this were exactly what Vash lived for; to personally torment pretty girls who took themselves seriously. Brew must have known.

"Are you sure about that? Or are you going to turn around and say you don't want to find some dart guns and find out?"
gunsmokeangel: (happy - loling)

Vash was pretty good at dodging. It was second to his talent for digging his own grave.

"I might like to see that, if you really can pull it off!" Vash teased, not that he had any idea what Sarah possibly could be thinking.

"So tomorrow, meet back here and you can own up to your words?"
thewarisover: (yeah well...)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-01-24 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"That would appear to be the case. What have you been up to?"

Beyond, well, the usual.

For a brief moment, Selendis considered just walking away and ending the conversation right there. They'd had quite a few great heroes until someone had betrayed and killed a good number of them. Selendis fought against herself, wanting to snap at the ghost, but knew it wasn't fair. She didn't know, so why would she think twice about asking a question like that?

"Yes," she finally said. Just one word though, and it was a dangerous one. There were a lot of charged emotions just underneath.

Selendis gave no reply to the topic of the battle in Europe, her mind suddenly caught up in other matters. The fate of this world was still a bit incidental to her, but her own was still a raw wound.
