"I remember," he muttered with some embarrassment. He didn't think that he'd actually become one of those leaving will-like notes behind. (A stray thought: Kuroro never did, and then he had to wrestle that thought away for later consideration, before he started getting annoyed again.)
"You seem to be doing well enough, though," he added as lightly as he could, and didn't say anything about not wanting to be here, and thereby put a damper on her obviously good cheer.

Rosalia wanted to do everything right and try growing up. It seemed like everything was right, or was she doing something wrong?
just posted my app with an image of his soul if you need it!
But there was really nothing he could do about it. The least he could do at the moment was encourage her, so Kurapika smiled weakly to show his approval of her resolve. "And now you're even helping out here. I guess I should ask you to check...?"
He couldn't bring himself to complete his sentence. He knew exactly what he was, after all, could still feel the power of the kishin egg souls he'd consumed thrumming along with his own soul. There was simply no harm in asking Rosalia to confirm that nothing had changed.
Okay!
The machine was all ready; it just waited to Rosalia to hit the button, but Kurapika had to be in place. Walking over to it with a small bounce, she double checked. Oh good, it didn't go into any sleep mode.

But it had done so countless times before, to other people. There were precedents, and it made him understandably nervous. Kurapika hesitated, wondering why he didn't just try to transform and see, before he moved to stand before the machine.

Was was there a chain around it?
"Looks like you're still a Weapon."

And then hot on the heels of his relief came dismay and chagrin: being a weapon wasn't an entirely good thing. He was going to have to rely on a meister to fight once again. It was because of this reliance that he'd had to get along with Kuroro in the first place.
He couldn't completely hide the confused turn his thoughts had taken as he gave a faint, if genuine smile. "Thank you," Kurapika said, at least grateful to Rosalia for getting rid of that one uncertainty for him. "Is there anything else I need to do?"
He could see the x-ray image of his soul--his first time seeing what it looked like, for that matter, and wasn't surprised to see it looking as angry as his roiling emotions always seemed to feel like. The chain made it look... tied down. Shackled.
There was a piece of irony in there somewhere that he was too tired to figure out just then.

As she spoke, she turned to look at him. Noticing how he stared intently at his soul, she tilted her head. "Is something wrong?"

"Just thinking," he added. "You mentioned the clinic? Is it still understaffed?"
no subject
At the mention of understaffing, she fiddled with her hands and nodded. "Yeah. I mean, there's me and Ammy and Mr. Lezard... and Sakura and Aqua sometimes, but that's it."

"Give me a few days to get settled. I'll give you a call once I'm ready to get back to work."
He didn't feel like he'd ever be ready, but Kurapika was beginning to realize that he had no choice. Watson and China and Leorio were more names he needed to think about and remember--Watson especially if he didn't want to make a mistake while treating someone.

It was nice that Kurapika was back, but he would have to get used to Death City again. And maybe see if he knew anyone else here and get reacquainted with them if he wanted to. No matter what, he needed time after being away so long and doing things in his world.

"For what it's worth," he began slowly, looking back over his shoulder at Rosalia, "I'm sorry for leaving so suddenly. And I don't look like it right now, but I'm happy to see you again, Rosalia."
no subject
"It's okay. We can't stop BREW from doing what it does..." she replied. She really tried to do everything his last note asked. "And... I'm happy to see you again too. I hope you begin feeling better soon, Kurapika."

[ooc: The training log looks so lonely and I kind of want to tag into the medic thread but I'm not sure if anyone will even reply also embarrassed about flooding yet another game-wide thread with my threads.]
