Location: Training Ground, Shibusen
Rating: PG-13 for violence of the training sort
Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on August 5th.
Extra note: The clowns have not yet attacked, but the hummingbird keychains have glowing eyes!

I understand the basis of the place, I'm just curious to see the environment.

N-no, it's alright.

[And he'll start walking towards the licensing department building, because there must be one somewhere in this city that is equipped to deal with all of the foreigners who appear with only the clothes on their backs.]

And it's... it's one of those places that every man has to see at least once in his life, I think.

[Takuto will accompany you to the strip club purely for educational purposes, of course!]

[ kaworu will follow. Takuto seems to know what he is doing, so he won't question ]

At least once? And why is that?

[tauborn]

Because it's one of those life experiences, you know?

[Part of singing out your youth and all that. If you don't, then you miss out.]

[ what youth? this is Kaworu, after all.

And no, he doesn't know. But he will smile and nod ] I believe you.

[tauborn]

[Believing is enough. And soon they arrive at the licensing building, and Takuto points towards the proper line. A woman behind the counter with an ad hoc label for "Shibusen Guests" looks as if her computer is boring her.]

If she tries to give you trouble about your age, tell her that you just don't age. [Takuto isn't even sure if that's true or not about Kaworu anyway....] And that you're at least 22 or something. The age is the important part. Got it?

So, you mean "lie". [ kaworu smiles.

he won't lie, but he will try to work around it, and will tell the woman the truth: he is technically way over 22. And because he is quite sincere about it, they eventually fall for it well, not "fall". it IS true

once he has the ID in his hand - they even took a picture - Kaworu curiously reads everything there ] I though the communicators worked as an ID, in the end.

[tauborn]

[He grimaces for a moment but he's smiling through it. And then he winks.] I mean you just say what you've got to say.

[He waits for Kaworu to return, smiling to himself as Kaworu inspects his new ID. Which is technically not even fake.] Yes, but not so much outside the city. It's best to have one of these cards on hand in case you're a long ways from Shibusen.

[ Kaworu nods, placing the card in his pocket, so he won't lose it. After, he offers the other a bright smile ]

[tauborn]

[For a moment, he's fine. And then unexpectedly he just can't take the Kaworu smile. So he stares at his feet and more or less starts to blubber as his cheeks turn pink.]

Er, it's--it's no trouble, really. And now you can go wherever you want without sneaking in or something.

[5thchild]

[ kaworu watches Takuto for a second, before he starts walking. Takuto is welcome to follow him, but he sill still hear kaworu's question even if he doesn't ]

Is it difficult to be around me?

[tauborn]

[He follows after Kaworu with a sort of start, sudden stop, then pathetic restart.]

N-no, I mean, yes, but not.... [He heaves out a frustrated sigh.] It's complicated. It's really easy and it's really hard at the same time.

[5thchild]

[ Kaworu speaks softly the next words, glancing at Takuto ]

If it's upsetting to you, why do you still do it?

[tauborn]

[Takuto looks away.]

The alternative is equally upsetting, and sometimes more so.

[5thchild]

Isn't that because you give me far too much importance? [ If Takuto didn't care for Kaworu, wouldn't it be a lot easier? Honestly, the angel doesn't think it's necessary at all, for him to care. ]

Both actions pain you, and you opt for the easiest. [ because the alternative sometimes is worse, takuto said ] It's understandable.

What did that person do, exactly? [ the other Kaworu ]

[tauborn]

[His voice is quiet, with more than a touch of stubbornness in it.]

I wouldn't say I give you too much importance. You're my friend. So you're important.

[He sighs.] By 'that person,' you mean the you that was here before, don't you.

[5thchild]

[ See? that. Right there.

it's unnecessary, Takuto. ]

Yes, I do. [ he may be kaworu, but to him, it's still Kaworu from another timeline. it's him, but it's not because he doesn't remember it. ]

[tauborn]

It's... complicated. It's not that you--he--whatever--did anything in particular. More like... like things just... escalated. Weirdly. I'm more at fault than you, though. Than him.

[He'll try to use pronouns like Kaworu expects, but it's not easy because he's just not in that frame of mind. He's talking about Kaworu to Kaworu like Kaworu isn't here, after all.]

[ he doesn't mind whatever Takuto uses; you, him, it's all the same to the angel. He simply addresses his other version as "him" because they are not the same ]


Do you regret it? How things turned out?

[tauborn]

[He hesitates, and maybe that hesitation speaks louder than his words. He's unsure, and he dislikes that he's unsure.]

...I don't think so. [His voice sounds heavy as he speaks, like it's a lesson he hadn't planned on learning until he was much, much older.] If I never made the mistakes I've made, then I wouldn't have learned from them.

[5thchild]

[ he smiles softly ]

I'm sorry the way things turned for you isn't ideal. I hope one day, they can be.

[tauborn]

[Takuto gives Kaworu a long look.]

Me, too. [And then he shakes his head and shrugs.] I hope things get to be ideal for you, too.
