Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on August 5th.
Extra note: The clowns have not yet attacked, but the hummingbird keychains have glowing eyes!

I am offering information on anything that you require. There are a lot of people that are confused and in need of a good explanation. So I decided to help.

Alright. Can you tell me about the Kishin eggs?

[ kaworu has read about them, but honestly, he enjoys reading/listening to Aranea ] And how training helps, when the weapon gains its strength from the souls it consumes.

Alright. Let's see. [She gives it a moment. Gosh, this would be so much more easier to do if she had access to her sylph of light powers. Ah well.]

So in this world you are aware that the soul actually has a physical manifestation that can be touched, held, and so on, yes? Well, one of the unfortunate opportunities this provides is for other human beings to consume them. This process is extremely detrimental, however, and changes the manifestation of an individual from being the human they once were to another being altogether -- a kishin egg. Of what I have seen, individuals who are kishin eggs have lost their previous sensibilities and are only concerned with destruction, survival, and consumption of more human souls. They are extremely dangerous and are not beings that can be bargained, reasoned, or changed. The process has fundamentally altered their soul, and they have lost that part of their self.

One of the questions that I have no had the ability to answer, however, is what would happen when a kishin egg becomes a full kishin. Ostensibly, this would be both a being of great power, and of great depravity, but aside from this I have not heard any information. It would seem this information is not common knowledge either, or else I believe I would have heard something of it by this point. It is my belief that the fear that people have toward kishin eggs, in addition to the fact that they are malevolent and destructive forces whose power could cause pain and suffering to a large group of people, is that once one is able to hatch and become a kishin it would be a very bad thing.

One other thing that alludes me, rather frustratingly, is the entire beginnings of this world's conception. The rules have all be clearly outlined, but the basis of them have not. The beginning of the war between the Shinigami and the Witches, for example.

Ah, I'm sorry. You didn't ask about that, but I still find it frustrating.

Now, as for the reason why we have training practices, there are two reasons for this. Some individuals who are weapons may have difficulty becoming their forms, which requires some degree of practice. While weapons themselves may not be as capable as meisters, they are also able to practice their skill at rudimentary weapons in order to provide some means to protect themselves aside from transforming. A weapon may get further insight in the appropriate use of themselves if they learn how to use the weapon they can become. Meisters, meanwhile, have another challenge of being the actual users of the weapons. Since we came from a wide variety of worlds and universes, our abilities to use them are also just as inconsistent. Some individuals will require the opportunity to practice wielding a weapon, prepare their bodies with physical fitness, and test the limits of their own abilities. Finally, both weapons and meisters will have the added difficulty of working in tandem with each other. This requires a kind of cooperation that you may not see in a person holding a sword, especially when that sword has a mind of it's own. By providing the opportunity for them both to accomplish tasks together in a setting where the stakes are low could be the difference between life and death when true danger arises.

Why would a human consume other human's souls? [ is there are reason, are they forced? ] And a kishin being a bad thing is just a theory, then? Doesn't Shibusen know, or they simply don't wish to share?

And you? Do you have someone you call a partner?

I have not had a partner. I am an irregular weapon, which means that I would politely direct people to ones that are more effective at defeating enemies.

Tell me, Kaworu. What do you know about Madness?

Madness wavelength; it's a wavelength produced by the Kishin eggs, which nurtures the madness that exists within all.

I... am a pair of glasses. So unless somebody uses me to refract light to kill kishin eggs that inhabit the bodies of ants. I'm afraid I will not be much use.

Madness is a thing that inhabits all things, whether they realize it or not. Yes, the kishin can emanate it and amplify those impulses within others, but for it to actually effect that person they need to have some quality within themselves that can be exploited. Fear. Anger. Sadness. Desire. Greed. Lust. Pain. Boredom. Ambition. All of those qualities we Lilin use to motivate us. To tell us that there is a goal that is worthy of pursuing and aspires us to change.

And just as that change can be purposeful, sometimes even positive, it can also be twisted into something destructive and cruel. When a person succumbs to their own madness they may find the allure of power to become a means to an end. Because the consumption of any soul, kishin and pure, increases power. And a force that aspires for change coupled with the resources to do so will allow anything that is desirable to become a reality. Only...

...in this case the process fundamentally alters that person into becoming an abomination. Whatever previously made that individual wanted before it has become twisted into it's own end. The reason that anger caused the person to consume a soul only further increases that fire. A person that is sad drowns in their sadness.

Those that consume are the first ones consumed by themselves.

Don't you have a weapon ability?

[ kaworu nods softly as he hears Aranea without interrupting her ]

I believe I understand. [ probably not completely, specially the feeling that compels someone to do it, but Aranea's words make sense if they look at it from a Lilin's perspective ] Do you think a full kishin would be the epitome of such madness and negative feelings?

[consider8]

I am not sure what my ability is. Aside from being able to provide clear sight in areas with limited visibility. It does not appear to have anything to do with my own power, either way.

[She stops to think.] I honestly cannot say. But the evidence would suggest that this may be the case. But that's just a well-educated assumption.

And don't you think your ability might be useful in a battle, even if your weapon form alone is not?

[ he nods ] I do not understand what the witches wish with that, however. What is the point of such thing?

[consider8]

Perhaps. I never admitted I was completely useless, only that my ability was limited in functionality. [Backpedal backpedal.]

Fundamentally that is one of the questions I have not been able to answer myself. And as the witches are not available, we won't seem to get that anytime soon. In fact, there is a lot of the origins of this conflict that I have no information on.

Then, your reason for not fighting isn't related to your weapon form. [ he smiles ]

I imagine no one from Shibusen is willing to answer those questions, either. And even if they did, they'd be biased to their side.

Even a biased account at least provides some information. The true history is often obscured by what a person or group wants to see. This isn't unique to any one given telling of events.

[She shakes her head.] The fact that we don't know and the fact that this battle seeks to destroy souls -- even of the corrupt -- makes me wonder if this side of the conflict is justified.

I understand. I do wonder if it'd change anything. After all, people wish to return home and that is dependent on BREW, that is helping the Shinigami. People will feel that they need to help Shinigami, in order to return.

[ there is a pause ] Destroying souls bothers you?

[consider8]

That is true. No matter what the intent it is certainly quite the imposition, no?

[There is a pause herself.] It does. I will admit that I would do so if it is absolutely necessary, but only then. While I do not have a love of it, I will have no problems bringing about the end of life if it is necessary. The destruction of the soul, however, is an absolute. In a sense you are denying that person an existence beyond this life. And denied the absolution or damnation or whatever else that you believe happens after.

Heedlessly endeavoring to remove one's existence is not something I take lightly. Nor is it something that I will endeavor without the entire truth as to why I would do so.

If those people mean nothing to you personally, why does it still matter?

I have seen two universes die. And all the people and galaxies become nothing but dust and air.

Life and death are things that happen. The moments we have are magical and meaningful. And when we die our souls go elsewhere. This is the normal flow of things. It gives meaning to the few hours or days that we are blessed to have.

I don't mind if this entire world is destroyed in a ball of fire. It will happen one day. But can they say, with eyes untainted by fear and hate, that in those final days of this world this war was truly worth fighting? When the casualties of war means the entire extermination of people, both mind and body, can a few years or centuries of fighting is a fair exchange when the end results is the end of an existence that would otherwise have lasted an eternity? If you look at it from another perspective, it would have been better for the ones that become kishin to have never been born. The proof of their life is only the shattered lives and suffering that they did when they were alive.

No. I think of this war and even I can't help but feel it is far too grim.
