Description: After a return to Death City and resulting brief surgery to remove the amplification chips, patients are now under observation for the safety of themselves and others as they recover from the ordeal. Visit a friend!



It began with a sigh of relief when the chips were discovered late last night. Nurses and doctors moved briskly down the halls, sedating the maddened and prepping them for an easy surgery. One by one the foul chips are removed, contained for further analysis while their 'hosts' take their first real rest after a whirlwind day spent out alone with their own crazed minds.

By the morning of the 17th, the surgeons anesthesiologists are exhausted, wearily taking their time in the break rooms of the clinic to recover from a very long night of sedations and incisions, but after another examination, they were pleased to announce everyone was clean.

But the environment is tense. Most, if not all of those who were brought back had done unspeakable acts and are ordered to remain under observation just in case. Visiting hours arrives just after Morning Training lets out, allowing patients to see their friends and partners. But take note- each room is accompanied by a Shibusen agent keeping their eyes and ears open in case of trouble, but they won't disturb your visit or conversation so long as you keep things civil.

[Hey. Hey. He's still getting used to the whole ancient spirits assuming control of modern people thing alright. Not exactly his first assumption. But if there wasn't any doubt before, it's certainly creeping up now.]

And what are you now? [Making a bit of a face.]

[He fixes Atem with a cold stare.]

Right. [Undaunted. And Haou is getting a flat look in return.] That sounds like as much of a name as pharaoh.

[Speaking of which... his expression melts into a smirk.] As a king myself I just might have to take slight issue with that.

Oh, I really doubt you're as much of a king as I am.

[Just kind of blunt.

Though...]

I'm sure if we worked together, though, we could rule this place.

I can already tell you were a master of diplomacy...

[Still, he gives the offer genuine consideration. It would give him an excuse to stick around, see what's really up with Juudai.]

That might be an idea. But are you really so certain you can stand to associate yourself with someone... inferior?

[You don't need diplomacy when you have a dragon and an army. Just saying.

Haou actually seems mildly amused by Atem's statement.]

It doesn't matter who I have to associate with. You seem strong, you might help me. That's all I need.

[Yeah how’s that working out for you now? The pharaoh is pretty familiar with both and he knows even that’s not enough at times.]

Well thanks for the observation. Maybe I will. I like to keep things interesting after all.

[Atem matches Haou's amusement, taking it stride for stride.] But let us get one thing clear. You can believe whatever you want, but I’m not your subordinate.

[Haou smirks a little and turns his gaze away from Atem then.]

If you say so. I won't treat you any differently than I would anyone else, though. Just keep that in mind.

[Atem hmphs, not at all bothered. He's more than used to taking care of himself in some ways.]

So what is your plan? [His eyes narrow shrewdly.]

At the moment, my plan is to get out of this place. And then I aim to retrieve my powers once again.

I won't actually need any help after that point. [Smug!]

That is a goal not a plan. [His retort is completely smug and facetious]

The best time to get out would be when the agents change shifts. There are a couple that like to leave before they have been relieved of their shift. [See. Making himself useful already.]

How long have you been observing them for? I seem to have been out for some time.

[He needs to make sure this isn't just a minimal amount of scouting here.]

You came in with the rest of us. [Which begs a few more questions, like how bad did it have to be to end up like that and...] Exactly when did you come to?

You mean you don’t remember? [Somewhat incredulously. Atem was fortunate -- or unfortunate -- enough to remember everything that had transpired under the influence of the madness emitter and he was certainly paying for it now.

Then again, it seemed as if Juudai was still experiencing the effects. He had thought they had all been removed by now?]

Not fully, no.

[Haou frowns and reaches up to touch his head thoughtfully.]

I remember meeting people in the woods, trying to recruit them, and then ... nothing.

Yeah. That was your rescue party. Apparently they are on to you.

[kuriboh_boy]

Apparently. There was an irritating boy with them who seemed to know exactly who I was.

Probably because Judai has told him.

[Grrr. Haou does not like Johan, nope.]

[pregames]

Is that so? I suppose that means we have to do something about him.

[And Atem is just going to make a mental note of that. The fact that this guy thinks he's someone different than Juudai and that there's someone here who knows more about him]

Oh, I would love to kill him. He's the whole reason I was finally brought back into the world anyway.
