[OPEN] Bouncing Back

Characters: Open to the kidnapping victims, their visitors, and medics.
Location: Death City Clinic
Rating: Varies
Time: June 17th and 18th (if extra time is needed), all day
Description: After a return to Death City and resulting brief surgery to remove the amplification chips, patients are now under observation for the safety of themselves and others as they recover from the ordeal. Visit a friend!

It began with a sigh of relief when the chips were discovered late last night. Nurses and doctors moved briskly down the halls, sedating the maddened and prepping them for an easy surgery. One by one the foul chips are removed, contained for further analysis while their 'hosts' take their first real rest after a whirlwind day spent out alone with their own crazed minds.

By the morning of the 17th, the surgeons anesthesiologists are exhausted, wearily taking their time in the break rooms of the clinic to recover from a very long night of sedations and incisions, but after another examination, they were pleased to announce everyone was clean.

But the environment is tense. Most, if not all of those who were brought back had done unspeakable acts and are ordered to remain under observation just in case. Visiting hours arrives just after Morning Training lets out, allowing patients to see their friends and partners. But take note- each room is accompanied by a Shibusen agent keeping their eyes and ears open in case of trouble, but they won't disturb your visit or conversation so long as you keep things civil.

[ooc: Remember to tag yourselves in!]

[Karkat is one troll Psii isn't expecting. But will be good to get things needs to say out of the way.]

Now that chip is out, am better.

[Takes an effort not to touch the bandage.]

Thank you for coming after. Am sorry was... [He gestures vaguely, helplessly.] Am afraid have always been hit hard by madness wavelength.

Are you all right?

That's good. I figured you'd be better now. [See that little hidden compliment there Psii. He thinks you're the kind of troll that bounces back pretty quick. Treasure it.] You couldn't help it. I'm just glad things didn't escalate more than they did.

Me? You're the one in the Clinic here, I don't know if you noticed. I'm fine.

[Implied compliment sails right over Psii's horns.]

Should have been able to help it.

[This is familiar refrain in thinkpan. Spent sweeps as ship wishing were braver, wishing could do something to fight.]

Should have been able to keep from hurting anyone.

[Oh hell no. No, he is not going to sit back and let Psii berate himself. Excuse him as he takes a couple steps closer in order to point a firm pointer finger in Psii's direction.] Stop giving me bullshit apologies. If it was truly possible to resist that shit, don't you think at least one person would have accomplished it? Don't you think you would have? It wasn't your fault, and you can't take any blame for your actions, because they weren't yours.

[This actually draws a smile from Psii, albeit a small one, quickly gone.]

You sound just like SS. Have heard that from him many times.

[Has felt this way many times, too, that best wasn't good enough.

And there's something deeper, more troubling. Thought that didn't fight hard enough because didn't want to, fell into rush of power surging back and didn't care if found way back out. Was no doubt, no struggle, there, and knows was the madness, but it was just. So easy.]

Had almost forgotten what powers feel like.

[personal profile] redregrets 2013-07-28 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Well. He's right. Maybe you should try listening to him.

I've got to say. You were pretty cool. Sollux was showing off all the time during the game, before, you know. I always kind of wondered how powerful he'd actually get. Now I guess I have my answer.

[Psii shakes his head, torn between shame and pride: shame at how used powers, pride stinging slightly at Karkat's assessment.]

That was fraction of powers.

SS... he's okay?
redregrets: (what?)

[personal profile] redregrets 2013-07-28 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck, are you serious? I guess it's a good thing we didn't get to see them at their best.

He's fine. We're both fine. You're the one everyone's worried about.

Hate being worried about.

If had had full powers, you would both be dead.

[Feels only shame in saying that. It's true. And SS will forgive, will even say there's nothing to forgive; and Psii won't deserve it. Again.]
redregrets: (smug)

[personal profile] redregrets 2013-07-28 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Me too. That's why I'm not worried about you.

[Yeah, if things were different in a lot of situations he'd be dead. He's not phased. In fact, he seems pretty excited thinking about how strong Psii was.] I bet they were awesome to watch in action. It's too bad you had to lose them to come here, because if you had your powers, those Witches and Kishin would be defeated in no time.

[Have another little smile, Karkat.]

That's correct. Was most powerful mage on Alternia.

Have often wondered why powers aren't imported with everything else.

Yeah, I wouldn't strain your thinkpan trying to find the nonexistant logic behind BREW. As far as I'm concerned, that thing just does whatever the fuck it feels like. Maybe it figured things would be too easy for us if you had your powers. You'd think it want the war to be over, but for all we know, it's impartial, and just does not give a shit. Maybe what it does and doesn't do is completely random.
00110010_00110011: (huh)

[personal profile] 00110010_00110011 2013-07-31 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe is following program of own, and importing help for war is only tangential to its true purpose.

[Thinks he prefers that to thinking BREW is horribly inefficient.]
redregrets: (what?)

[personal profile] redregrets 2013-07-31 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, but then, what does it want? What's it's true purpose? If it was doing something else in the background, don't you think it would be obvious eventually? I mean, I'm not sure how complex BREW is, or what it even is, but at some point, if it was working on something extra, we'd notice, right?
00110010_00110011: (console)

[personal profile] 00110010_00110011 2013-07-31 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
If had powers-- If had them without being out of thinkpan, could ask it.

Which suppose is excellent reason for it to have taken own powers.

Think BREW wants Shibusen to win. Think it's also human-magical equivalent of supercomputer, and is probably running several programs concurrently. Expect war has highest priority in queue, and that's why don't see evidence of other purposes.
redregrets: (LOOK NOOKSNIFFER)

[personal profile] redregrets 2013-08-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Shit. Yeah, it would have been too easy if you could have just asked it. Well, I guess if it wants Shibusen to win, whatever else it's working on can't be related to hurting us. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to win.
