[Open Log] Shopping at Yesterday's Magic
Characters: Lily Ivory, Kanji Tatsumi and Open
Location: Yesterday’s Magic
Rating: G
Time: June 11-13, 11AM-6PM
Description: With news of the Gala announced, it’s going to be a busy weekend at Yesterday’s Magic. Need a tux or gown for the gala? Have a tailoring request for Kanji? Just want to browse for everyday vintage clothes or try a different look? Searching for a part-time job involving clothes? Stop by and take a look!
With the gala being planned for next weekend, this weekend promised to be a busy one at Yesterday’s Magic. Lily had stayed late to rearrange the shop after hearing the news yesterday and now that she had completed her usual pre-opening salt water, sage, and candle ritual, she paused to survey her handiwork before unlocking the door.
On one side, the racks towards the front were now hung with suits, tuxedos, and the occasional tailcoat covering every decade from the 1890s to the 1980s. And on the other side, clouds of tulle, taffeta, lace, and chiffon enveloped the racks, some of the outfits pricey but generally cheaper than a new gown at a department store would be. Baskets of glittering costume jewelry, opera gloves, shawls, and bow ties waited, their contents soon to adorn partygoers’ arms and necks. Vintage heels, dress shoes, and even a few top hats lined the shelves next to the small curtained-off spaces that served as changing areas. The business suits, more casual everyday clothes, and frilly old-fashioned lingerie had been moved to the back and the whole shop was scented with fresh laundry and rosemary and sage.
Turning to the shop window, Lily adjusted a sign advertising that tailoring services were available and the smaller one next to it that read “Help Wanted.” Now that business had picked up somewhat, another clerk or two would be a help. With Kanji taking missions regularly—he would be out today but was scheduled to be in Saturday and Sunday—and her need to frequently go out in search of new inventory, Yuugi being left to watch the shop alone wasn’t uncommon. Satisfied that everything was in place, she unlocked the door and flipped the closed sign to open.

[He cleared his throat quickly. Professional. Professional.]
Yeah, I-I mean it's for your privacy, so...
[He gestured for the back room and dug into his pocket to get his tape measure. With Valentine's back turned at all, Kanji would ease out a sigh to calm his nerves. Gotta keep it together.]

[He didn't step in, half out of keeping his lady boss from smacking the living shit out of him, and half out of common courtesy. The ladies tend to know to what extent to dress down to allow for more accurate measurement numbers, so he figures he doesn't need to worry about anything.]
[Until he notices that she'd intended to take her top off and he wasn't sure whether or not she had any, uhm, undergarment. BUT HOW DOES HE ASK WITHOUT SOUNDING LIKE A CREEP.]
Are you, uh... y'know, w-wearin'... stuff? I mean, ya don't need to strip down totally!!
[uhhhh close enough!?]

[He could only wonder what those may be, too. One button undone and it seemed like everything might spill out. She raised a hand... and pulled out a slip of paper, handing it to him. The other hand re-buttoned her top.]
Those would be my measurements. I believe it should be enough.

[He was handed a slip of paper, and he took it, his heart thudding once against his ears, then stopping completely. He looked up, and stared at her.]
...Ya gave me a damn heart attack, lady!!
no subject
I did? Fortunate I'm a nurse then.
[Not even going to reprimand him for yelling at a client. Isn't that nice? But yes, she's still obviously teasing him.]
This is your job. Obtaining measurements shouldn't make you this unnerved... or perhaps the female body intimidates you. Fascinating...
no subject
[The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.]
I-it don't intimidate me! I'm just fine with 'em!
no subject
[Does it look like a shirt? Hm... She steps closer]
Is that right?
no subject
Tch, 'c-course I am!
[Professionalprofessionalprofessional]
Uh, i-it'll take a few days to fix up the dress, so if ya wanna take that up to the counter n' get it rung up I can get... get started on that tonight, and... yeah!
no subject
No surprise. We'll continue this discussion later then.
[The nurse headed off to the counter, leaving Kanji alone. Hopefully, he can breathe easier.]

S-sure. You'll get a call when it's ready to try on; it'll be done in time for that Gala.
Uh, h-have a good one...!
[And BREATHE EASIER HE DOES, holy shit, but he's got to learn about dealing with customers.]
