Description: In the area surrounding San Martín de los Andes, Isla del Sol and San Pedro de Atacama, there have been reports of large, bird-like creatures attack and consuming humans. A request was sent out to Shibusen to deal with this threat.



San Martín de los Andes

A town famous for its tourism. It gets chilly at night, but during the day it's bright and sunny with plenty of beaches. Incidentally, it's a famous place for birdwatching during the summer. Needless to say, after more than a few bird watchers were seen being carried off there are fewer of them hanging around lately.


Isla del Sol

An island with harsh climate and rocks. Lots and lots of rocks. It is also rich in old ruins and archaeological sites. The views from the top of the mountains, especially at dawn and dusk are said to be breath-taking. Lately though, it's less the view that's taking the tourists breaths away so much as the giant birds (suspected to be Kishin Eggs) swooping down at them and eating them.


San Pedro de Atacama

Another nifty place for eco-tourism where tourists can choose to go on exploration tours in natural landscapes. Lately though, many tourists who go to the Valle de La Luna and the Chaxas Lagoon, haven't been returning. When a couple of survivors finally made it back, they spoke about a monstrous, pink bird devouring their fellow tourists.

[While Minako had said before that she was looking forward to a mission for a chance to travel around the world, she doesn't look particularly happy after hearing from the survivors. A monstrous, pink bird? It sounded ridiculous, but some information was better than none, right?]

Well, hopefully something like that won't be too hard to find.

No way! Huge and pink? Sounds like it'd stand out like.. [ .. he pauses, trying to find a good comparison here.. ] .. like an elephant in a ball pit!

[ Great, Josuke. So poetic. But he's grinning widely. Apparently he's not too concerned with the whole situation just yet until they see the bird in question. Not like he can complain, either way, he's all the way over in Chile and it's to help people out too! And if there's anything Josuke constantly does it's protecting people.

And hey, he's even here with Minako, who's plenty nice, so.. their first mission together! It's pretty exciting. ]

They said it happened in those tour places, so.. let's have our own little personal tour and head over to those! That lagoon sounds plenty good for now, right, Minako?

[evokes]

[She actually laughs at that MINAKO... Maybe it's too soon to get all DOWN TO BUSINESS, and it does feel reassuring that she has Josuke for a partner here. How bad could it be, right?! (Just wait till it turns to shit later.)]

Our own little tour, huh... Yeah, let's do it! We might as well see some sights while we're here after all. Let's head for the lagoon.

[ They'll get to business later, for now they're just unsuspecting teens.. besides, he figures he might as well have some fun while he's here and before he'll have to fight. ]

It's this way.. it should be in walking distance, I think that sign just now said it's only about ten minutes away. [ He at least waits for her to walk in the direction he was pointing in, but then he casually saunters after her, hands in his pockets as if he's really on vacation and all. ]

Man, it's pretty cool though, being here.. I bet I could even make my old man jealous with some story about a place like this!

[evokes]

[She starts walking, making sure to check behind her at first that he's following along. It's off to sightseeing now!!]

Tell me about it! Going somewhere like here for a school trip would be way more fun than the kind of places they usually pick.

Bwhaha, I don't even think my school would have the kinda budget for this! [ Not that it wouldn't be fun to hang out here with Okayasu and Koichi or something.. but still, just being here with Minako is fun enough. She's nice, even if he doesn't know her that well yet. ]

Uh.. guess I should try out the whole transforming into a Weapon thing now though. I've been practicing back in the city, but it's still.. way weird.

[evokes]

Oh, that's probably a good idea. [Hmm...] Will you still be able to see things even in your Weapon form though? I wouldn't want you to miss out on the sights here.

[She doesn't know how things work for Weapons after all, and she wants Josuke to have fun here too!! It won't be as fun if she's the only one who can see around.]

Uh, I tried before. It's sort of weird, but yeah, I'll be fine. I'll see everything.

[ Even if he won't.. have eyes.. but he's way past questioning everything here, he knows it's all just weird. ]

Here, it's easier if you hold my hand though. Else it's just shitty if I'm going to drop to the floor right after I transform. [ And because it's just in a practical sense, he's not really embarassed of the idea of holding hands with a girl.. so he easily holds out his hand towards her. ]

[She nods since yeah, questioning it would probably get too confusing... Although aside from blinking at the request, Minako doesn't seem to mind much. It's too early to be that kind of social link!!]

Alright. [And taking his hand now...] Ready whenever you are.

I was born ready!

[ .. He laughs, so.. it's.. probably a joke.. best to not ask. He's trying to focus afterwards, either way, and from his expression it's pretty easy to tell that he's probably constipated trying really hard to transform. It wasn't easy before either, even practicing in his own apartment in front of the mirror (slightly embarassing, yes) took ages, so he just hopes it works now..

But somehow there's something vague between them that he can feel like this, something that reaches out from her warm hand to his very soul and eases the transformation - enough for him to slowly almost disappear until there's nothing left but a brass knuckle on Minako's fist.

For a moment it looks like it's inanimate, but then Minako will surely quickly enough here his voice.. ] Man, this is still weird as shit..!

[evokes]

[Minako watches the process intently the whole time since, well, this is the first time she's seen anything like this. She doesn't really know what to expect. When all that's left is a brass knuckle, she inspects it closely before letting out a yelp when he speaks.]

You're telling me! [She laughs though, bringing her fist a bit farther away from her face. So this was a Weapon here, huh... And here she was talking to her hand.] Is everything alright though?

[unbreakably]

[ Well, at least she's.. slowly getting used to it? Honestly, he has to get used to it too, so they're just a little awkward here together.. but whatever, all he can do is try his best. For the sake of protecting everyone here, for winning that war - and for protecting Minako too, of course. ]

Yeah, I'm fine. .. As fine as I can be while I'm a fucking weapon, I guess.. [ Half-muttered since this is still too weird!! ] But at least we're almost there, right? Just gotta kick that bird's ass and then I can go back to normal too.

Will you be okay fighting like this?

Yeah, I'm sure we'll get this done in no time. Then we can walk around and see the sights for real.

[She nods, glancing back down at him as she keeps walking.] I think I'll be able to manage. I have a senpai who's into boxing, and he taught me a few things.

[aside from walking from the temple to the dorms doing nothing but squats at least........]

[ But did he teach her how to fight bears without a shirt on, these are the real questions.. ]

I believe in you, Minako. [ It sounds surprisingly sincere. It's.. a little weird, either way, like this it's almost like he can feel her emotions too a little, the way she's feeling.. it's weirding him out, but he's trying to deal. Fighting is more important. ]

So all that's gotta be done now is finding that bird, huh? You see it yet?

YO GET SOME WITCH BOOTY UP IN HERE

[Considering his possible reactions to the hi-cut armor, probably not...

She nods at him, smiling confidently. Maybe it's weird to trust him so much already, but she feels pretty sure.] I believe in you too, Josuke. Let's do this!

Not yet... [AND THEN THEY WERE AT THE LAGOON... This is kind of a letdown.] I don't see anything weird here.

[Almost right after she says that, a flock of flamingos land in the water. Which wouldn't normally be strange given that flamingos are a part of what attracts tourists to this spot.

One of those flamingos wasn't like the others, though. Being easily the size of an ostrich and all.

Unlike the rest, it also wasn't interested in the water and instead fixed its eyes on the pair of humans.]

[ .. Well. If there's anything obviously weird here.. it'd be that, right? And although it could be a little bit too straightforward, it's not like Josuke to think too deeply. They were sent here for some big pink bird, there's a big pink bird there, case closed! ]

Yo, Minako.. see that thing? That's gotta be it, c'mon, let's get this over with!

[evokes]

[Minako on the other hand takes a few more seconds to think about it. It fit the description of what the enemy was, and nothing else seemed to be out of the ordinary with it aside from the obvious. She almost wishes Fuuka was here to scan for weaknesses to make it easier, but that was neither here nor there.

Time to complete a mission.]

Yeah, I see it. Let's go! [And with that she'll come running in, ready to throw a punch at the giant bird once she reaches it.]

[When they get closer, they may notice that there's something else about the giant flamingo that's odd besides its size. It was that its eyes glowed faintly a detail that was previously not mentioned because I am dumb.

When the pair got closer, the flamingo opened its mouth to shot out a stream of flames at them.]

[ It's weird, fighting like this. He's used to just fighting by himself and actually.. well, being able to do something rather than being stuck as the Weapon. He should be the one throwing the punches here, this is almost frustrating..

.. but that thought vanishes the moment he sees the flames. Shit. ]

To the side..!

[evokes]

[Minako dodge rolls to the right, and it's at least clear that she's used to this kind of thing. The moment she gets up, she lunges toward the giant bird and throws a punch with her right fist.]

[Flamingos, even the giant, fire breathing kind, were not know for being particularly agile animals. It would have been impossible for it to avoid that punch.]

Furafura flamingo mingo.

[That was, if it weren't for a thin tendril of flames that came from the side, like a whip, trying to coil around Minako's wrist.]

[unbreakably]

[ .. What the hell?! Sure, he's fought some weird rat, but in the end it was just a rat with a Stand, the animal itself was normal! Was this one of those Kishin eggs they talked about, all weird and twisted, hardly like the animal anymore..?

But as he's thinking about it, he only barely notices the whip-like fire coming from it. Why does a flamingo have fire powers either way, these Kishin egg things make no sense! ]

[IS THIS SERIOUSLY STILL A FLAMINGO... Granted she's seen plenty of weird things in Tartarus, but that doesn't mean she wants to accept these kinds of things so easily!!

It's too late to stop with a lunge like that, not without tripping over herself and becoming even more vulnerable, so Minako keeps on with the punch and grits her teeth when the fire coils around her wrist. She's been through worse, she's been through worse, she's had fire and ice and lightning thrown at her before. But that was with the help of her Personas; she doesn't know if she's quite as durable without them.]

[The punch connects and the flamingo stumbles back with a pained squawk, flapping its wings as it did. The flame around her wrist tightened for a moment jerking backwards as if trying to pull her arm back as the flamingo ran towards...someone.

The fight had caused all the other flamingos to take flight, revealing that there had been a woman with a pointed hat sitting amongst them. She had a croquet mallet on her lap and she didn't appear to be bothered by the fact that her clothes was wet from sitting in the water.

She stood up with an absent-minded frown.]

Oh, dear.

[It was the same voice that had chanted before, though it certainly had sounded like it came from the diridden byection of the flamingo since she was sitting somewhere behind it, hidden by the funny looking pink birds.]
