[Event Log] Mission #202 - Tegucigalpa
Characters: OPEN to those who signed up for the mission here, assigned to Tegucigalpa
Location: Tegucigalpa, Honduras
Rating: Varies
Time: May 29th
Description: It's an evacuation! Get people out of there and keep the kishin eggs off of them!
The resort city of Tegus isn't doing so well. You can see the relief in the eyes of the local police when they see help has arrived, help that can actually deal with the strange monsters raising hell in the streets.
But nobody can rest easy yet. Even in a city of lovely as this, the kishin eggs - much less the witches - see no need to take care of the historical buildings and tourist spots, choosing instead to mark the old buildings with their claws and magic when they aren't hunting down and torturing fleeing, terrified civilians.
Help get them out of there and on their way to the safe zone- there are buses, vans and police cars under the heaviest guard waiting! When you see a witch, keep your head low and hope she didn't see you... unless you think you've got the bite to back up your bark!

[He had to question the man's choice of weapon as well, a stalk of sugar cane, but he supposed one had to make do with what was available. Regardless, he reached into his soul, the blue of it growing filthier with the influence of panic and fear in the city as a whole. The flames that arose were still wild, almost too warm to the touch as he exerted everything to try and maintain control.]
[He cared little for the screaming man, his mind running endlessly with thoughtless garbage as he fought to clean it up, beginning to hear the buzz of insects again as he contained it. He would not allow this to leak through the resonance!]
If this man does not cease his screaming, he will alert the entire damned city!
no subject
[Lily's grip on the book tightened and inwardly, she tried to grab a firmer hold on Lezard's soul with her own, taking up a chant as she directed a few small fireballs towards the demon.]
[And unfortunately, the flames flying past did little to calm the panicked man who was still wailing in fear, acting like a beacon to any other kishin eggs that might be nearby.]
[Dag nab it! Fighting demons was easier without frightened citizens getting in the way!]
no subject
I suppose I ought make use of the Morning Training.
[But with a ping passed between the resonance, he alerted her to a trio of beasties approaching, drawn by the man's screaming. The marketplace was deeming with civilians in hiding, so many souls to devour... Lezard remembered the trolls, but wondered how Miss Ivory could overcome this particular test of wits.]
'Friends' have arrived at the southern entrance. They will be within range shortly...
[He just had to do his best as well. Coaxing new fire to life, he swept a hand and formed a flash of fire to put some distance between the civilian and the monster, leaving an opening.]
no subject
Dag nab it! Three of them?!
[A flicker of uncertainty passed through her mind. They'd never faced so many at once before and not with so many normal people around.]
[She wasn't sure if they could do this but they couldn't just abandon the folks here either. The witch refocused and cast a Fire Storm while the frightened man took the opportunity to dive behind a crate of watermelons.]
We're not waiting for those critters. They might attack other folks on the way.
[As the second demon melted away in the flames, Lily didn't bother waiting to collect its soul. Instead, she grabbed a flame, willing it into the shape of her athame and hurried in the direction Lezard indicated.]
no subject
[He sounded pumped, to boot. Flames prepared, he kept a bead on that soul for collection later. He could always round them up when the area was secured.]
Their readings are massive, though not quite akin to the trolls. With so much open space, however, they will have added maneuverability. But you are smaller...
[Lezard nudged the resonance just slightly higher, testing the limits of whatever the hell they call a bond. Lily may perhaps feel considerably lighter.]
...And much faster.
no subject
[It must have been the resonance but she felt as if gravity had lost some of its effect as she sped towards the market's entrance, unsure what they'd find. That question was soon answered as they heard a child's scream and came upon a little girl separated from a fruit fly the size of a car by only a table and a few boxes of nectarines. Two more of the gigantic insects hovered in the air nearby.]
Get away from her!
[Tightening her grip on the athame, she started a chant and hurled a set of Fire Lances at the one closest to the girl.]
no subject
[Upon sighting the beast his pages flooded with information about fruit flies and their habits. Lezard hadn't bothered to shut off those thoughts and let them be, for they were rather unimportant at the moment.]
[He, in turn, maintained his focus through her chant and directed the blows to that first fruit fly's body. Hitting the wings may be useful in most other circumstances, but having such a large creature on foot would be messier than something aerial they could very well strike. He'd smelled burning insect chitin before... but he wondered if Lily had. Quite unpleasant.]
Something to consider: Their large size is an inconvenience; there is a reason most insects stay small. Should they fall from a greater height than they currently are, they may suffer grievous damage. One moment...
[A corner of his pages filled with numbers swirling back and forth, a little mental math, and-]
Should they ascend another five yards or so, that should be enough.
no subject
[She also tried to tune out the stench of the burning chitin as they drove the one back on the ground with more flames.]
[Burn the wings when they flew high enough? It sounded simple enough but Lily doubted those overgrown insects were going to be cooperative. In fact, they were descending towards them and she was forced to divide her attention, scattering flames to try to keep all three away from herself and the little girl.]
no subject
Of course, the Fire Storm pillar is high enough as well.
[With a grin, he reached 'beneath' the ground and planted markers.]
Proceed as you see fit. ...But what to do with the child, I wonder? I see none calling for her.
no subject
We'll just have to keep her safe until her parents appear. [The protective part of Lily's soul came through more strongly and her determined tone made it clear there wasn't any other choice. Lezard had better have a lot more fire left in him!]
[Taking advantage of the cover of the firewall, she took a moment to assure the girl she would be okay if she stayed under that table and closed her eyes and covered her ears. A cocooning spell really would have come in handy now.]
[Turning her attention back to the bugs, she pointed the athame at the magic circles on the ground and concentrated as she chanted, making the fiery pillars shoot up and knock the flies higher into the air.]
no subject
[He saw no problem with this, though he wished whatever guardians still lived would hurry along.]
[The flies were hurled airward and Lezard only prepped more. He tried to reach further, but 'bumped' into a sort of wall... damn. He more than likely needed more souls. He had an inkling he could access his Greater Magic, but needed more time to do so.]
[The flame arrows grew finer points then, and he saw fit to guide her hand. The wings moved quickly, and they needed to make the hits count to knock the creatures out of the sky.]
no subject
[Lily could feel his soul's energy combining with hers, helping her aim as the Fire Lances soared upwards. Holes burned into the wings, making them useless for flight. She jumped back as gravity took effect and the insects came crashing to the ground.]
no subject
I think that will be all... we've eliminated their chance at survival. I shall keep a bead on the girl, but I wonder how we might locate the parents.
no subject
I don't know. I reckon we should just start pulling people out from under tables and hoping we find them. And that folks are more cooperative about evacuating now. [Hopefully, they wouldn't be interrupted again before they managed to clear the marketplace!]
[And so Lily looked under tables and behind boxes of fruit, managing to coax a few who had been hiding out.]
no subject
[He sought to alleviate her burden, and pulled away. With a flash of light he transformed back as the insects slowly perished. Keeping the girl within his sights, he awaited their demise as he went about coaxing people from hiding.]
Damned shame. To think they wouldn't see about keeping their children in arm's reach...!
no subject
[By the time the insects vanished, leaving those glowing red spheres, they had managed to round up about a dozen civilians. Checking under another table, Lily found a man cowering there who bore a resemblance to the little girl.]
I think I've found her father but I reckon we'll have to drag him out.
no subject
[Ah, did they find the father? He gave the little girl a gentle nudge to bring her over, who'd seen fit to grabbing hold of his cloak and trying to hide in it.]
[But as he crouched down, he pointed to the cowering man and turned to the child, speaking quietly. He'd studied up on a few languages in his time here thus far. Asking the man if the child was his could be dangerous... but a child knew their family. Instead he addressed the girl in what Spanish he knew if this man was a member of her family or someone she knew, carefully pulling the cloak down from her eyes so that she may see.]
no subject
[Now that that was taken care of, Lily picked up the souls left by the the insects. She didn't know what would happen if a curious child tried to take a bite but it seemed best not to find out!]
[As she shoved them towards Lezard...] Let's hurry and check the rest of the market.
[There were still those folks where they fought the first couple of demons and another soul to collect.]
