Characters: Yami Bakura and Nanami & and whoever would like to visit them.

Time: May 21st – May 26th
Description: Yami Bakura and Nanami share a hospital room after their disastrous mission in Venezuela. Yami Bakura will be unconscious until May 25th, but Nanami will be ~~here all week folks~~ awake for the most part.

The room was silent with the exception of the machines beeping to remind visitors that the two bodies in the room were still warm. Nanami spent her time awake staring at the ceiling or out the window and periodically glancing over at her dormant partner in the other hospital bed that occupied the room.

He was covered in various bandages with bruises peeking out from behind them. His hair was sticking out in a more ridiculous manner than usual due to the bandage wrapped around his head like some sweatband from the 80’s. She had been updated on his condition shortly after she regained consciousness and besides the things you could see he had also twisted an ankle and had been poisoned by one of the monsters they had tried to fight off. The antidote had been administered shortly after they had arrived at the hospital but he was still unconscious.

Nanami hadn’t managed to get off scot-free either. Aside from the usual cuts, scrapes and bruises she had some deep lacerations on the left side of her back that had been stitched up and she was still anemic.

"I didn't know that... I thought you were really..." Bakura trailed off, looking down.

"Trying to kill you? I won't deny having a mind to." He stemmed his hands on his hips. "But don't you think that I ouold have done it a thousand times over by now if that really were my objective?"

More hesitation. "I thought there were things stopping you..."

He made an amused noise. "Like what?"

A small, uncomfortable shift. "People who'd notice and know it was you...."

"So? Detection has never been a problem for me before. Sure, it's more advantageous if certain people don't know I'm around" Bakura made an amused noise. "But I wasn't exactly inconspicuous to begin with."

"But here... everyone would know..."

It was such an uncomfortable topic. "And I always just thought... back home since I was useful, you couldn't..."

"So what? This is a wide world!" He chuckled sadistically before calming down. "Your existence is my gateway to the world, so I'd be an idiot to want to destroy you. That said it'd be a grave mistake of yours to consider yourself irreplaceable." Even if doing so might mean having to wait another three thousand years.

"You'd just have to wait for another opportunity..." Bakura pointed out, unknowingly echoing his double's words. "So it's a truce of convenience, isn't it?"

It was odd, actually talking about these things. The actual acknowledgement of arrangement of host and parasite between them. Other than their first conversation... it had been something more waved about as a weapon, rather than anything so calmly discussed.

Bakura inclined his head, eyes narrowed, but then gave a sharp nod.

"It is." There was nothing else to say to that. "Don't forget about it and I won't cause you any sorrow." ...that couldn't be expected.

The younger Bakura nodded. "Just to see what's there and not what isn't?" he smiled faintly. He was more than aware that that was where he failed the most.

Bakura gave him a rare left-for-words look before he ran a hand through his hair and nodded once sharply with a smirk that was directed at himself.

"Hrmp. Exactly. If you want to go crazy over something, do it over something that's worth it."
