Characters: Yami Bakura and Nanami & and whoever would like to visit them.
Location: Hospital
Rating: PG-13
Time: May 21st – May 26th
Description: Yami Bakura and Nanami share a hospital room after their disastrous mission in Venezuela. Yami Bakura will be unconscious until May 25th, but Nanami will behere all week folks awake for the most part.
The room was silent with the exception of the machines beeping to remind visitors that the two bodies in the room were still warm. Nanami spent her time awake staring at the ceiling or out the window and periodically glancing over at her dormant partner in the other hospital bed that occupied the room.
He was covered in various bandages with bruises peeking out from behind them. His hair was sticking out in a more ridiculous manner than usual due to the bandage wrapped around his head like some sweatband from the 80’s. She had been updated on his condition shortly after she regained consciousness and besides the things you could see he had also twisted an ankle and had been poisoned by one of the monsters they had tried to fight off. The antidote had been administered shortly after they had arrived at the hospital but he was still unconscious.
Nanami hadn’t managed to get off scot-free either. Aside from the usual cuts, scrapes and bruises she had some deep lacerations on the left side of her back that had been stitched up and she was still anemic.

A wave of his hand was enough to send the spike flying at his host. Within seconds it, as well as four more spikes, had sealed him to the ground, hitting him in the shoulder, through a certain scar on his left hand and other painful places.
Bakura stared coldly at the intruder that was pinned to the 'ground' of his soulspace like a butterfly. "...Whatever you're touching you're ruining... Just die."

He hadn't meant for this... he hadn't meant to ruin anything, he had just....
His free hand weakly reached up, trying to reach out to his double. Had he truly ruined everything....? He didn't want to believe that-- He just wanted to make things right, truly to this time...! Why was it every good intention he had ended up this way....?

"It's nothing personal yadounushi. You've just turned from a valuable asset into a weakness that needs to vanish before he starts using it against me even more."
His hands found Ryou's neck and clasped around it hard.

The question was cut off as his air was, his eyes going wide as he strained and struggled to pull free and breathe. This wasn't happening. This wasn't happening, this--
There was a sudden glow of light before the bloodied form beneath the spirit vanished, replaced by the battered d10, red thread wrapped tightly around it.

A game... Bakura's grin returned as he reached out and grabbed the die. A game was for playing, right? Then they should play.
He raised the die with a sadistic chuckle to his mouth, preparing to let it fall into it and crunch it to pieces. "I'll make sure to take good care of your body after I've devoured what little is left of your soul. It can stay at the hospital and serve as a spare."

It was a frantic sort of desperation that got him to transform back, aiming his foot at his double's head. Even if it would just stun him a moment so that he could run...!
...but the moment he returned to normal, so did the pain from the injuries...
But he wasn't going to let himself be destroyed so easily...! He'd promised...!

Suspending him there with what seemed to be nothing more than a passing effort of thought, Bakura took his time to wipe the dirt from his face and stand up.
When he did something had changed about him. The darkness seemed to be darker around Bakura and his hair was ...off. It had always been somewhat of a spiky mess but not the tips of his hair seemed to raise themselves against gravity like dozens and dozens of small thorns. The pair of big, forward-curved horns on the sides of his head were also new.
Pale lips parted in a laugh and suddenly the voice that had greeted Ryou right at the beginning when he had entered Bakura's soul was back. "Now, now. If you struggle it will only hurt all the more. Just submit yourself to me like the thief did."

Not the other him? Then who... or what...?!
"Wh-- Who are you?!" he demanded, still trying to struggle against the darkness that held him.

The howl broke out of his mouth as he suddenly staggered back as if he had just received a heavy physical blow. "You-!!" For a moment Bakura was busy fighting with himself, his hands clawing at his face as if he wanted to tear it off. When he stopped he was breathing heavily, partially shrouded in the same sort of darkness that had tried to latch onto Ryou as well and trembling.
"Ryou," taking a deep breath, the spirit took another step back before he raised his head. Half of his face seemed normal except that there was no white in his eye anymore and that it was glowing a deep soulless crimson red. The other half of his face looked less pleasant, scratched and with one vertical and two horizontal deep gashes over his eye and cheek that rapidly kept growing deeper as the skin around them cracked like crumbling stone. His right eye was calm and burning with determination. "Damn, I thought I had more time... This is the worst."
Bakura made a cutting gesture with his hand and the solid darkness that held the soul of his host got torn.
"I-", he started to explain something but then cut himself off with an angry sounds as he bit his lip. For a moment he just stood there, trembling and angry. The darkness around him was growing deeper. Then he jerked violently and snapped, "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR YOU, IDIOT?! GET LOST, I DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO ATTACK AND DEFEND US BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!!"

It wasn't right... running wasn't right, not when...! But what else could he do...?
"Bakura! Don't die!" he shouted over his shoulder before turning around again and running as fast as he could to the surface.

Then nothing happened until their resonance was disconnected and even then Bakura waited another ten minutes before he undid all the artificial pictures that he had created to give his 'visitor' the right idea of what was going on inside his soul. The right idea as he wanted it to be.
Leaning back and letting himself sink deeper into the recedes of his soul once again, Bakura laughed darkly. All he had to do now was to be patient and replenish his energy while he waited for his body to recover. "Your move."
