Characters: Yami Bakura and Nanami & and whoever would like to visit them.
Location: Hospital
Rating: PG-13
Time: May 21st – May 26th
Description: Yami Bakura and Nanami share a hospital room after their disastrous mission in Venezuela. Yami Bakura will be unconscious until May 25th, but Nanami will behere all week folks awake for the most part.
The room was silent with the exception of the machines beeping to remind visitors that the two bodies in the room were still warm. Nanami spent her time awake staring at the ceiling or out the window and periodically glancing over at her dormant partner in the other hospital bed that occupied the room.
He was covered in various bandages with bruises peeking out from behind them. His hair was sticking out in a more ridiculous manner than usual due to the bandage wrapped around his head like some sweatband from the 80’s. She had been updated on his condition shortly after she regained consciousness and besides the things you could see he had also twisted an ankle and had been poisoned by one of the monsters they had tried to fight off. The antidote had been administered shortly after they had arrived at the hospital but he was still unconscious.
Nanami hadn’t managed to get off scot-free either. Aside from the usual cuts, scrapes and bruises she had some deep lacerations on the left side of her back that had been stitched up and she was still anemic.

"All right."
The Voice was unconscious, and given how banged up he was, seemed likely to stay that way. Mello recognized one of his Watch people in the other bed, the girl who'd tried so hard not to stare at his scars.
"I'm ready."

A moment later, the small white die landed in Mello's palm, thin red thread attaching firmly, Bakura's presence following near instantly after. There were fewer barriers than the last time they had resonated, the paler teen focusing intently on pulling all his focus and energy into the healing that was go come. There was also a deeper trust; a trust that Mello wouldn't pry, and that he would keep quiet about anything the might spill out unbidden. No need to waste energy on hiding when there was that.
'If you would...'
no subject
He rolled the die carefully, wondering for a moment if it mattered what number came up. Then he focused on anchoring Bakura, much like he'd done when they'd fought off the madness wavelength together.
no subject
He concentrated, holding up the number he needed as the white plastic clattered quietly on the cold clinic floor.
5
There was just a moment's pause before the die returned to Mello's palm, starting to glow with a cool, soothing white light. Almost instantly, there was a matching glow around his unconscious double, the energy from one transferring to the other across the small space between them.

He hadn't seen Bakura's power in action before, and watched with interest. It would've been awfully convenient if Near could have controlled his form the way Bakura did the die, but on the other hand, Mello took pride in knowing he was likely the fastest Rubik's cube solver in Death City by now.

There was no reply at first, Bakura doing his best to focus without any help. He had asked the favour and since it was for his double, he was taking responsibility (or so he thought) and attempting to only use Mello for the physical act of rolling. Having Mello there helped, however. Even just knowing that the offer was there helped.
Slowly, the glow faded, Bakura's focus easing as he unconsciously leaned back against Mello just a touch, staying transformed, part for reassurance and part to steady himself. Healing took a lot out of him, even when he was being careful not to over do it.
'I think it's all right if you just roll... maybe help with aiming, thinking of who it is the spell's ment for. But healing's different than the attack.'
no subject
He did the mental equivalent of firming his stance, holding steady so Bakura could lean on him.
Do I need to roll you again? If it takes much more out of you, that'll be the last time for now.
no subject
The teen was quiet a moment as he debated. 'No... not right now.' With Ryuzaki, he had only needed one roll because he had given it everything he had. This was different. It wasn't an emergency. The spirit wasn't dying... He could take it slowly.
'Tomorrow...? If that's all right...?' It was a touch timid because he hadn't asked for multiple days to start with. And Mello was a busy person...
no subject
He didn't bother making a show of reluctance, knowing the resonance would give away that he didn't really mind.
What happened?
He was aware it wasn't any of his business, but didn't care.

'He was on a mission. Not with me, with someone else. Nanami-chan got hurt pretty badly as well...'

It felt weird to think, with both of them having almost died more than once, but he and Near really had been lucky on missions. Except for going to Linz, where his rosary was probably still there, ground into bits under the snow cover, they'd always managed to pull it off. It even felt damn good most of the time, testing the limits of their power, trusting each other enough to do that.
You ready to change back?
Good for Nanami to come in, I think!
There was a shimmer of light before Bakura was yet again standing as himself, expression a touch tired to add to his evident worry.
^_^
"What's going on?" She asked quietly with a concerned expression.

"We're giving Jerkface here a hand," he told Nanami. "Are you all right?"
As all right as she could be, given the circumstances, he meant.
no subject
"I can heal, as part of my Weapon ability..." he explained further.
no subject
Healing abilities, well that was convenient, she still wasn't exactly certain what her abilities actually were yet although there were a couple possibilities. "I see. Your weapon form... is what then?" She hadn't really been able to see it from where she was.
no subject
"Yeah, sedatives will do that." She looked banged-up enough to have warranted a decent dose. Of course, in Mello's case, they'd usually been a precaution against him trying to leave as much as they'd been for painkilling purposes.
He'd let Bakura field the question about his form.

Even if he had does his best to conserve energy, healing did take a lot out of him.

Nanami looked at Ryou blankly even after he expanded upon the original geek speak. She wasn't aware of the fact that there were dice with more than six sides. "Ten sides..." she mused aloud. The former student council president was normally pretty self-centered but she was also pretty drugged up at the moment so she didn't notice Ryou's fatigue.

Mello was still going through security footage, trying to find any trace of the kidnappers, though he suspected they'd long since left Death City.

"Your shift's taken care of, so concentrate on healing up," he told Nanami.
To Bakura, he said, "Let me know when you want me to come by tomorrow."
