Characters: Nanami and Bakura the batd
Location: Venezuela
Rating: PG-13
Time: May 20th, evening
Description: Tree-houses are being haunted, Nanami and Yami Bakura move in toenjoy the resorts and spent Shibusen’s money under a thin disguise go ghost hunting.
They had arrived early and taken their sweet time checking out a noble resort that was to be their temporary working central before Bakura and Nanami had eventually made their way to the supposedly haunted tree-houses. It was starting to dawn when they finally arrived after they had followed a dusty and half-forgotten street to its end.
Bakura had organized one of those four-wheeled motorcycles whose names me always forgot and had somehow managed to drive and park it well against all odds (keeping to the tempo limit wasn’t something the Spirit of the Sennen Ring considered an option). Climbing down from it, he grabbed his small backpack with equipment before he nodded to his Weapon of the moment.
“That’s it. We’re here.” Despite what they were about to do he seemed rather cheerful.

I can give it a go~
Outside there was a low rumble that sounded a bit like thunder and what seemed to be a giant gust of wind followed it threatening to topple the house in the tree as everything began creaking, some floorboards even sounded like they were cracking around them.
<3!
Thanks to that he barely showed any surprise when suddenly something happened. Bakura mumbled a few choice words in a long dead dialect for a second as he swiftly moved to protected area of the treehouse, still always at the ready to counter an ambush.
'Shit! Do you see anything?'

Hissing another Egyptian curse, he backed into a corner where the fallen debris was creating a natural shelter against being pulled out easily.
'How many?!'

'Two, maybe three?' It was hard to see or hear through the falling planks of wood and she was straining both senses. 'We'll be sitting ducks in here!' There came another loud thud outside somewhere behind them followed by a long scraping sound on the wall to their immediate left like nails on a chalkboard but a lower frequency.

There was a bit of blood dripping from the former attacker and it seemingly backed off a little and Nanami realized why. 'Behind you!' She shouted to her partner. The one who had been clawing at the wall was now attacking on the remains of the roof behind them. The two creatures were working together.

A single thought echoed through their resonance. 'Huh?'

Nanami wasn't able to completely hide her panic but she had pretty strong self preservation instincts that kicked in immediately.
'Hey! Move it! BLOCK!' There was really no time to bark out any other "helpful suggestions" as the claws shot forward and at the same time the area of the roof they were standing on finally collapsed beneath them.

Seconds later there was another howl as Bakura twisted the blade and forcefully pushed it against their opponents area between his fingers. Gasping for breath, Bakura gave the monster a challenging glare as his face pulled once more into his sadistically-confident smirk. "Well, that's not the kind of getting closer I had in mind when I came here."

From an audience's standpoint something might have seemed off about the way the creatures were approaching and that was simply because they were setting the Meister and Weapon duo up. As the came close swinging arms and talons at the two something long and scaly snaked up around Bakura's ankle through the newly opened hole he had managed to escape. The chimera beasts were a decoy.

'We need to get off the roof!' Clearly escaping into the house they had just vacated was not an option, there was also the possibility that there were more enemies waiting in the other places on the balconies outside of the house.
The beast in front of them whipped a hand out at Bakura's midsection and waiting right behind them was the second waiting for him to back into his clutches.
'Trap! Trap!' Nanami was doing her best not to panic in order to keep their resonance stabilized but some of it was leaking in anyway.

'I know, but I can't dodge', he gritted his teeth as he leaped once more out of the more muscular one's reach. This time there was no way avoiding the winged one's attack. All Bakura could do was to protect his vulnerable spots and hope that the old rule of superior agility meaning less brutal strength was true.

The winged beast grabbed at Bakura, it seemed that although the three creatures were working together, the spoils went to the one who captured them. It dragged them backward preparing to lift off luckily it was taking more time because what was left of the roof and walls kept crumbling under its feet.
'Can you break loose and aim for the bridge?' She remembered that was there and in the direction they were being dragged perhaps the suspension would cushion their fall a bit. There was the possibility of it snapping under their weight but at least that fall would be closer to the ground than where they were now. Too bad Bakura didn't have a weapon form because falling definitely hurt less that way.
Pardon the late and tldr - first I couldn't think of a good tag and then I wrote too much. |D
Just that retreating was goddamn difficult with both his physical and magical powers being limited like this. If he only had access to his Dark Magic or his real body-!
Bakura pushed the thought away as he twisted himself in a silly dance of hops and attempted jabs with his Weapon in a desperate bid to make the monster drag them in a direction that would be good for them without actually giving it what it wanted. At one point the claws ended up crushing right against his short ribs and the resulting pain was enough to make Bakura trip and stumble as a curse left his lips.
But then they were less than a meter away from the edge of the roof and he could see the bridge Nanami had mentioned. Sparing a look at it Bakura knew that he could, no had to do it! He'd bust himself free and take that leap and then when they were out of this death-trap they would show this wanna-be monsters who hunted who here!
Gritting his teeth, he stemmed his feet against the roof with desperate force and all but dragged the monster hanging on him even closer towards the edge. 'This is going to get rough!' One more hit, a twist of his hip and then they'd be free to learn how well gravity meant it with them- And then the roof gave way under the foot he had just put his weight on. "FUCK!"
He looked up just in time to see the muscular monster coming closer at a break-neck speed, aiming it's ugly, clawed paw right at his face.
<333 Teal Deer right back attcha. lol
On one side, Bakura's constant wriggling was making it practically impossible for their current captor to lift off with them in tow. On the other side, the second beast was waiting for a chance to nab them while a third unknown monster was just below. They were in one of those dammed if they do damned if they don't predicaments.
And then Bakura got stuck. Normally Nanami would be aghast at the language he was using; unfortunately it was completely warranted here as she too saw the imminent danger. She had to do something, anything!
With little time to come up with a plan, she transformed blocking the pathway to her stuck partner. She had kept her arm in her scimitar form and attempted to block the attack as the creature came in close; there wasn’t enough space to skewer it with the length of her blade. It didn’t hit her too hard since it had slowed a bit due to her sudden appearance and she leaned into it to keep her balance. The beast held onto the blade with one claw while swiping at her with the other.
All she could do was tense up as the claw hit her side, nails tugging the fabric of her shirt and slicing into her skin as she was thrown off the roof. She let out a sharp scream before the bridge caught her for a brief moment and then the corroded ropes gave way where she had landed causing the bridge to split and fall beneath her.
Meanwhile Bakura's dangling leg was quite the tempting sight for the snake-like villain below but at least the sounds of Nanami crashing somewhere below were distracting the rooftop creatures.

"Kuh!" Exhaling sharply, he retrieved his second knife from its place (the first had gotten lost sometime during the first moments of the fight) and set to hammering its handle against the wood in order to break it. If he couldn't get out he would just go properly inside and take the other route..!
He was almost through when he felt something latch on him from below. "Nanami! Fight!" There wasn't more time for him to shout instructions at her as the monster below tried stronger and the thief was pulled through the roof with great noise, blade ablaze and ready as he went down with a challenging yell.

There wasn't a lot of time to find out what it was because the rooftop creatures lost their rights to Bakura for the time being so they turned their attention toward Nanami instead. She kind of just wanted to run away but there was that little detail, the one where her partner was still around the vicinity of the tree-house. She couldn't tell if he was still on top or not from her vantage point but she should probably stick around and figure out how to get back to him.
What she could see was two monsters heading her way. Nanami pulled her dagger out and kept her other had free for the time being while ducking behind a dense area of trees. She was beginning to notice quite a bit of pain on the left side of her back.

At the same time a series of battle-noises came from the tree-house: the sounds of things being toppled over or broken, once an angry inhuman scream, the clang of metal hitting something hard and scraping down against it. Bakura wasn't giving the monster the easy time it had expected, it seemed.

The monsters were moving separately and while Nanami was no expert on war tactics she had a feeling she knew what they were up to and she was not about to let them have their way. She backed away staying between them evenly so that their formation formed a triangle. It seemed to be buying her a little time but it wasn't going to last.

Back at the tree something hit the ground. A dark shadow rose from the ground just to toss itself into the nearby shrubbery right away, the rustling of it coming nearer as the new threat honed in on Nanami as well.

Just ahead she could see an area of chaotic growth amongst a fallen trees and she b-lined toward that for the first time showing the creatures her back. Surprised by the sudden break of formation the two sprung into action behind her.
She weaved in, out, over and under until she suddenly disappeared using her small size to her advantage. Nanami had wedged herself under a pile of branches and a large fallen tree trunk before transforming and holding her breath.
