Description: No matter how strange things got, you still needed to work.



They had had to close the store for a day or two as they cleaned up the graffiti, and continued to open despite having the vandals tied up outside their door. They didn't open during the riots (it would have been foolish to do that).

At the end of everything, though, the doors were opened again. Life went on, after all.

Welcome to Metokkori R, a store where they sell more flavours of instant ramen than you can shake a stick at and various other Japanese goods and snacks. Or maybe you were more interested in coming into the Hikan Café, a family style restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. There is a mysterious third store, but, unfortunately, recent events have delayed its opening.

As usual, the stores all accept communicators as payment~.

Metokkori R

[A Japanese goods store selling anything and everything Japanese. There are also some Cthulhu plushies left over from the days when it was run by the previous owner. You can also order merchandise from Japan through the store.

There is a catchy jingle playing in the background. If you're not careful, you might find yourself humming it while leaving the store...]

Hikan Café

[Feel free to order anything from the menu. Most of the dishes are named after Guests the owners used to know.]

Employees only area

[Naturally, there is a back room for the employees to eat lunch and sit around when they're on break.

Your boss hasn't been on a mission lately, so sadly he has no souvenirs to give you.]

[There's a sign posted outside the stores with 'Now Hiring' written in big, bold letters.

Underneath that it listed some of the positions still available. Feel free to go in to inquire about job opportunities!]

[ Every few days Duo usually ended up showing up at the cafe, usually looking for something to satisfy his usually bottomless stomach in between Black Mesa work runs. Today is his day off, and shuffling around in an unusual outfit of flip-flops and shorts, hair loose (he's somehow managed to lose every hair tie he's gotten since he came here, and it'd remain loose and incredibly long until he shuffled to the store to buy more) - he finds he could get pretty used to this 'normal life' thing.

For the moment, anyway. Right about now.. though... ]

Xiao Qiao chow down time!

[ Saya is working, of course, but this time she is trying to sell exactly those Cthulhu plushies; so she has one on top of her shoulder.

You may find her flipping through some mangas while there are no costumers around. ]

[ Saya brought her own lunch this time - bento, yeah. She is Japanese after all.

And she still has a Cthulhu plushie on her shoulder, by the way. ]

[ She isn't a costumers nor an employee per say, but Condesce does deliver cakes and baked goods to the Hikan Café. Which is what she is doing today, carrying behind her a trolley (a TROLLey ahaha ) with boxes and containers that have pastries inside

Be careful not to trip on her hair, by the way ]

[With all the unfamiliarities of Death City, not to mention the recent turbulence with the rioting, Anri's found she's been surviving on whatever she can grab from whatever stores will accept her communicator as a form of payment.

Now things are starting to settle down, however, she figures it's time to get back into better habits and where better to start than a store selling items that remind her so much of home?

Okay, not even two weeks in and she's feeling a little homesick. Is it any wonder Metokkori R already marks itself as a regular shopping spot, especially when she already had the place specifically mentioned to her before.

And so she wanders, picking up goods here and there but quite clearly taking her time with it, allowing herself to enjoy this little reminder of home in such an unfamiliar place]

[After a successful shopping trip, Anri decides she might as well stop to grab some lunch from the affiliated cafe. Which, of course, means deciding what she wants - easier said than done when the menu looks so good, which means she could be here for a while - and quite possibly not realising that she might be holding up the line in the process]

[ After lunch, Duo had thought about going back to the apartment, where there was a couch to stretch out on and a puppy to play with - but instead he found himself in the colorful merchandise of Metokkori R, exploring a lower shelf as he pressed his hair to his body to keep it out of the way and out of the merchandise.

.. He could probably get a cheap plushy here for the dog, right? ]

[ since Saya is the clerk, she is often lurking around, until she notices Duo. The girl puts the manga down and approaches ]

Hello. Can I help you?

[Eve spent most of her time in the café side, so she hadn't really seen the plushie on the shoulder until she came into the backroom with her own lunch.]

...Saya? Why is there a plushie on your shoulder?

[Everyday during her break, Eve would be practising her calligraphy in the back room. Even though Itou wasn't here to teach her any more, she still preferred to practise here instead of at home. Call it nostalgia if you will.

She picks up the brush once she was done setting up thought about what character to practice before starting on the first character.]

[Eve tended to fill in for some of the waiters when it was needed.

Today was no exception.

She recognized this person as a regular but even if he wasn't she could guess who he was based on his appearance alone, most days. It came with being Keroro's partner.]

One Xiao Qiao. [She paused after writing that down.] Your hair is down today.

[It was just as well given that they were a little lacking in cooking staff. Only now were the part-timers who were from this city starting to come back to work.

Eve nodded at Condesce.]

Good morning.

[Well, it was part of Eve's job to make sure these things went smoothly.

She had just finished bringing someone their food when she caught sight of a familiar face.]

Hello.

[ At first the whole being recognized and named right off the bat by the little green alien had spooked him. After all, he'd always been told to operate in secret, and only those who were closest to him really even knew his name, and that was strictly because that worked together.

He'd quickly gotten used to it, though the hero worship was still a little strange for him. ]

Could I do two, actually? Sorry. [ He laughs lightly. ] I'm like, starving today for whatever reason.

Yeah! I lost or broke most of my hair ties, so it gets a day off until I go and buy some more. [ Now the task was making sure he didn't get it caught anywhere or otherwise messed up. ]

I'm just kind of perusing.. [ Duo murmurs before he is able to pull his eyes away from the rack, flicking long bangs out of his face as he turns to see who, exactly, he's talking to. It doesn't take long before he recognizes her, and his face splits in to a grin. ]

Oh, hey! You're Saya, right? I'm Duo!

[Anri looked up with a start, having been caught up in the menu enough that she hadn't noticed Eve nearby. Now that she had, however, she did at least recall that they'd spoken before, though that wasn't where her mind went to first]

Ah...I'm sorry. I'm still trying to decide, but I won't be much longer.

[Anri probably hears Keroro before she sees him, the co-owner of Metokkori R making a sound like pikopiko as he walks around the store adjusting merchandise so it sits perfectly neatly on the shelves.

When he sees her though, he brightens up and gives her a salute.]

Welcome to Metokkori R, de arimasu!

[She hears him, but it's the sort of background noise she can attribute to general background noise and so she doesn't pay as much attention as she might have.

When she does see him, she's not quite quick enough to disguise her shock over the fact that there sure is a frog-like person addressing her. Okay, she's come across an intelligent wolf before and it's not like Ikebukuro doesn't have its fair share of weird but this is still new.

Even as she recovers enough to reply, offering a bow as she does, it's clear she's still a little taken aback]

Ah, thank you.

[He isn't too bothered over her shock in seeing him. You tend to get used to it when you're a two foot-tall green frog-thing running a store.

He gives a deep bow back, smiling as he straightens up.]

No problem, de arimasu. Let me know if there's anything you need help with okay, de arimasu?

[At least he seems harmless enough - granted, it's hard to be too scared of someone who's only two foot tall, green or no.]

Um...actually. I was told my communicator's okay as payment here but is that on everything? Or just on some things?
