Characters: Nanami & Yami Bakura
Location: Nanami and Clair's Condo
Rating: PG
Time: May 17th 4PM
Description: Bakura's got some 'splainin' to do.
Nanami was sitting on the couch turning the pages of detective novel when she heard the knocking at door. "It's already four?" She thought to herself glancing over at the clock. The blond hadn't intended to spend the entire afternoon reading but somehow it had happened again. After marking her page, she set the book on the coffee table and made her way to the front door checking through the peep-hole first. One could never be too careful these days especially after the riots and then there was that creep, Zagi.
Even though she could clearly see Bakura she still paused before finally opening the door for him. "Hello, please come in."

His outfit was casual for the spirit's taste, simple dark jeans that empathized his long legs, a white button down shirt whose top buttons were undone and a dark blue jacket. His hair was combed so it looked soft even though its ends still stood up as spiky and wild as ever and a confident smile played over his lips as he greeted her.
"Hi. I brought the promised pasta and red wine."

"Are you hungry now or would you like to wait a little while?" She closed the door behind him and locked the deadbolt.

He held the bag with the food out as he performed a half-shrug and inclined his head to the side, a small smile (or rather borderline smirk) playing over his lips. "How much potential do the things you wanted to walk about with me have of ruining the mood for dinner?"
no subject
"I'm not really sure. In any case, I think I've nearly come to terms with what I've been told so far."
no subject
Oh well, it didn't matter.
"Oh?", he echoed her as he he stopped in the doorway to the kitchen before letting himself in, "What have you been told?"

"A jerk, huh? Yeah, that sounds like him." He smiled to himself and a soft chuckle rang out under his breath as he moved to stand next to her at the counter. Inclining his head softly to the side, he watched her with a polite yet appreciating expression.
"Ryou always says the same things whenever he wants to 'warn' people about me. Of course he first twists the conversation in such a way that it will be you asking him to tell you more about me rather than him just starting out of the blue with it." He gestured towards the glasess and plates she was setting out. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Let's sit down before we continue talking."

((Oh yes she did, lol))

Bakura gave the words a couple of moments to work before his expression turned more serious. "But I said that we would talk about what has been bothering you. The claim that I am a spirit is true. Using Japanese terms, I wouldn't even be just a simple Yūrei but an Onryō, since I am vengeful and my powers and emotions are strong enough to let me take over bodies under the right conditions. In fact," he placed his right hand on his chest to empathize his point, "this body originally belonged to the man you met earlier. I had a deal with him and had borrowed it when I was brought here."

She returned the serious expression while she listened to his explanation nearly dropping her fork when he admitted to being an Onryō. It was like feeding paper through a crappy printer, the paper just kept getting jammed about halfway through. She pushed her fingers to the bridge of her nose and sat there for a minute attempting to unjam the damn printer.

"I didn't tell you earlier because it is something that is pretty hard to stomach for most people and doesn't really matter here anyway."

He shook his head, a little frustrated at the memories of his last fight with his ex-host that those words had conjured up. For a moment his scowl deepened and made him look more like a vengeful ghost than usual.
But then he took a breath, looked up and exhaled. "Very and barely. My grudge only applies to a very few chosen ones." He paused. "The person who destroyed everything and -one I ever loved and got away with it and those who abuse the powers of the Items like he and his priests did."

Now she understood why he asked if what she was going to ask was going ruin dinner as she stared down at barely touched plate. The conversation needed to be changed to something at least slightly more pleasant. "I'm satisfied with your explanation but that doesn't mean I've come to terms with it," it was a little crass but that's how she was sometimes especially when she couldn't relate well.
no subject
"It's nothing easy to come to terms with. Just think of it like in those movies where the real body of the main character lies somewhere in a hospital in a coma and he has to fight to get back to it." He stopped to chew and then grinned faintly. "Besides, there's no big difference between this and that. I'm a bit older and buffer and that's about it." Besides the big scar on his face and the thing with the entirely different nationality and a lot else.

A little teasing laugh escapes her, "I have to take your word for it then? You could be ly~ing."

He raised his glass to a small mocking toast. "Cheers."

"Yeah." Returning to his food as well, he said "Venezuela."

He took a sip from his wine before he looked demonstratively around the room. "Are you sure your new Meister doesn't mind us going out together?"
