Characters: Death the Kid and Liz Thompson
Location: Gallows Mansion
Rating: ...uh....G...?
Time: May 10, late evening
Description: He's baaaaaaaaaaack. Or rather, he has been back, just intermittently. But the last trip was likely his last for a while and he was in much need of R&R.
Kid could not remember the last time he stepped inside his house let alone his own bed. A few days? Weeks? Months?
In secret he had been going out to different cities, bases, countries to see how things were going. Some were more harrowing than others, and the recent in-city uprising. He almost cancelled his last two trips, but political pressure and possible rising threats elsewhere pushed him out. The last trip had been an overall success (except for the fact that at one point he failed to resonate with Spirit and had to almost cut it early), but now he had to deal with the matters back home.
"Liz...Patti...I'm back," he called out and surprised himself by how...tired he sounded. It was also disconcerting when the hallway started to swim before his eyes and he had to grab the edge of a nearby table.
He had been fine just a few hours before. So why was he— He just quickly shook his head. No, no time to be failing now. There were reports he needed to read, mission logs to look over, files to sort through.

Yes, she'd seen him recover from being wailed on by things like a giant mallet made of bandages but that didn't mean that she was okay with it. There were some days where she was scared that the next injury he took on he wouldn't be able to heal.

"You've already done more than enough—I can take care of things from here."
Although it was just a sandwich, he had not been lying. He could feel more of his strength returning and while he was not at full recovery, things did not feel as if they were going to move around anymore. However he did come to realize that he was going to need to rest.

She stood up and crossed her arms, blocking his way to the kitchen.
no subject
She probably was speaking the truth, but he was going to be stubborn about this.
no subject
Tonight, she would not be moved.
"Bed." She pointed sternly towards the stairs for emphasis.
no subject
"You're not going to give up are you? Fine, here."
no subject
Of course, she had a good reason to. The fact he gave in so easily meant that he must've been even more tired than he let on.
"I'll be up in a bit. Try and get some sleep, okay?"
She'd pop her head into his room and check on him, of course. Old habits died hard.
no subject
Though he was going to take a much needed shower first. Then sleep. Maybe.
If going pass his study on the way back from the bathroom does not distract him at least.

Once finished, she headed upstairs to go check on her Meister.

Just one little look to see how much work he would have to catch up on, he promised.
Instead he was sitting at his desk with the desk lamp on and looking over the files with more thoroughness than originally planned.

"How did I know it was too easy?" she asked.
She walked over to him and grabbed the back of his collar.
"Put that stuff down. You're going to bed. Even if I have to drag you there."
no subject
"Liz! Let go of me!"
no subject
no subject
Maybe.

She put her free hand on her hip.
"...time's up, mister. Bedtime. Don't make me wake up Patti because you're being stubborn."
no subject
So he just sighed. "Fine. Fine. You can at least let go of my collar before you stretch and ruin it."
no subject
Possibly tomorrow if a good night's rest does as much for you as she thought it would
She let go and mutely pointed in the direction of his room. There was a threat in her posture that she would drag him there if necessary.

Upon approaching his room (and glancing to see that all the candles and paintings were properly aligned—yes, good) he stopped and turned around to face her with a look that read, "You're not going to follow me in here, too, are you?"
no subject
However, she just crossed her arms and looked away, giving him time to get changed. However, she wasn't budging from the doorway.
no subject
Kid stared at her for a moment longer before rolling his eyes and going in his room.
And shutting the door behind him. Or at least attempt to.

So once he was finished changing and had done his usual nightly routine—it had been quite some time since he had been in his room—he called out to her.
"I'm going to bed now, Liz, so you can quit standing out there."
no subject
She started to retreat to her own room.

Though as annoying and naggy Liz was, there was some comfort knowing that the weapon was only looking out for him. It had been a while since he had been around them, and though it was only the one, he knew he would have his fair share of Patti in the morning.
And feeling the comfort of home...perhaps he really would get some rest that night.

Patti, as predicted, was sleeping soundly, clutching a giraffe plush toy to her chest by the neck. Liz smiled and softly closed the door.
Going to Kid's room, she slowly and carefully opened the door to peek inside.
