[closed] kicking ass and taking names
Characters: Date Masamune (SB) and Katakura Kojuro
Location: Around Nevada.
Rating: PG
Time: February 11
Description: Baby's first mission. Mission details here.
"Oi Kojuro."
With his hand on his hips, Masamune looked at the steel structure of a warehouse in the middle of the desert from the cliff they were perched upon. Their goal was two fold - infiltrate and decimate. But it wasn't going to be easy or straightforward. Shibusen reports have stated that many of the thieves were well armed and highly competent. It was time for them to step in and recoup some of their losses.
But this straightforward mission, which would normally bring Shibusen trainees quaking was not enough to quell Masamune's adventurous spirit though. He was the man who had ambition to conquer the whole of Japan and now he's doing... this. He remembers coming back to Kojuro with several of the mission objectives from the board and Kojuro rejecting all of then but one. This one. Since it was near home.
"We could have gone somewhere instead of doing clean up in the sand."
Not like they could change the mission since they were already on it, but Masamune felt like mentioning it anyway.

Kojuro was smiling, and Date could surely feel through their link that his Right Eye was only too eager to cut their enemies down. The thrill of battle, of fighting alongside his master, was one of the few things that the man truly took pleasure in.

That was Masamune-ese for "Let's go and kick ass like old times." (though admittedly it could also stand for a number of other things.)
Which meant that Masamune followed his instincts and ran through the corridor at full throttle, seemingly powered by boundless energy. It felt different, because unlike having an apparent source of power to tap into, Masamune felt like there was something resting in his soul that was bursting to come out. It was just a matter of bringing it out when he needed it.
The bandits were desperate, and had sent out their last resort. A monstrous robotic creation the likes he had never seen before.
"Oh."
Even Masamune had to stare.

That meant that all they had to do was find a weak spot. Which he was looking for right now.
Attack its limbs, my lord! We must disable it!

With typical Date Masamune bravado, he immediately withdraws backwards to give himself enough room to dash forward. The smile on his face grows wider and he can feel the energy building up inside of him even more - so much so that he felt like he was the unstoppable thunder god once again.
Defying the laws of physics in typical Sengoku Basara fashion, Masamune jumps up with the momentum he gained from running forwards once again and aimed for the one weakpoint of the machine with a cry of "PHANTOM DIVE!"
It wasn't as graceful as he'd like, but one could argue that thrusting a sword in the joint of a massive robot thing to disable it was pretty impressive.

It did not stop its pilot, however, from attempting to raise up one of its arms and fire, haphazardly, in their direction.

Baby's first resonance, in other words.
It all happened in a swift moment, Masamune and his Weapon were engulfed in electricity - sparks flying from his body as he used the momentum of his first slice to subsequently deal another damaging blow to the mech. He slices the other arm off cleanly, but the added electricity caused by their resonance causes the entire wiring of the mech to short circuit causing it to explode.
That in itself throws Masamune backwards straight into a wall, but the adrenaline was still rendering him impervious to pain. He did it.
No, they did it. They did it.

My lord?
He had one eye on the remains of their opponent, and another on his Meister. The power burst had been impressive, but watching after the health of his lord took precedence over everything else.

That was a party I'm not forgetting any time soon.
Everything ached but those were pretty inconsequential injuries. He'd be up and running soon enough, just give him 5 more minutes Kojuro.

What do you wish to have for dinner, Masamune-sama?
Because talking domestic matters in a ruined thieves' den was the way to be awesome.

Which was true. Masamune staggers to his feet, using Kojuro to prop himself up (whoops). That was terrifyingly brilliant, this whole experience.
He couldn't wait to do it again sometime.
