Description: Another small BREW hiccup results in another "round" of unexpected newcomers into the city.

Just like last time, a very small group of individuals has appeared within Death City, and just like last time, no one even knew about it. Fortunately things have been relatively calm these past few days and it's an especially warm day today, so at least any impromptu help and touring should go smoothly.

[ooc: Just like last time, this is a consolidated log for the volunteer intro buddy system. Either the new character or the volunteer can start the thread. For each thread, indicate the character names in the subject line. Whether or not another character is pulled in is up to the players, BUT the threads are closed to the initial partnered characters (hence the "semi-closed" label.

The new characters are also free to start a thread with one another if they so wish.]

[Chika smiles.]

Well, don't worry about it. I mean, if there's someone you know from back home here, they'll probably see your first message you put up on the network.

[He'd have to remember that. It couldn't hurt to try, after all.]

... And that's something you can do from this, right? [He gestured slightly to the communicator.]

Yep. Do you want me to show you how to do it?

Oh, sure. [He moved a little closer to Chika, making it easier for him to watch as she explained.]

Okay.

[She smiles as he came closer to her, pulling out her own communicator.]

I'm not going to actually send a message, but in order to do stuff, all you need to do is choose one of these three things here.

[She points over to the video, audio, and text icons, all clearly labeled.]

Depending on which message you want to send. Then when you're done, all you need to do is hit the send button. It's pretty easy.

[He watched intently, finding nothing particularly difficult about the set-up. It struck him as very... computer-like and intuitive.]

And you can post it to... a network, besides sending things to people?

Yep. Pretty much like any type of internet message board, actually.

[He glanced back down to his own device, fiddling with it a little bit in order to try and find everything that Chika had shown him. He still wasn't really sure how much use he would get out of it, but it was still good to know.]

So, the network this can post to, it's just exclusive to the people who got pulled in here?

Not exactly. People who work for Shibusen definitely can get on it too. I'm not too sure about other local people from here though.

So, it's still pretty restricted. [He took another moment or two to play around with the device before glancing back up to Chika.]

Is there anything else it can do?

Yeah. There's a GPS and Alarms and a note pad program in it.

Also, you can use it to get free stuff at a lot of the places around here. It's kinda like an ID badge to let them know that BREW brought you here.

That all sounds pretty handy.

Maybe, but it works out pretty well for us.

Oh, and there's an organization here called SEES that usually hands out welcome baskets with some necessities for the newcomers here.

We should have enough made here. It's not like there's a lot of you guys coming here this time. We would've known in advance otherwise.

[Shinji honestly wasn't sure how he felt about that. That, on top of everything else this place provided...?]

Well, if the baskets are limited, and there are other people that... showed up, shouldn't they be saved for the others?

Nah. If we need to, we'd just make more.

We usually go into overdrive when we know people are coming. It's just the last two times that hasn't happened.

Besides, it usually makes it easier for new people to have a few necessities already picked out and packaged for them in one place. I know it would've helped me out a lot when I first got here.

If you're sure. [He still sounded a little uneasy about accepting it, though.]

Er, so what kinds of things are in it?

Just the basics, really. A few changes of clothes, some toiletries, and a few snacks.

... That does all sound really useful. [Plus, it was stuff he probably wouldn't have thought of otherwise.]

Yeah. Especially since you all have a lot of stuff to worry about right now without having to worry about the basics like that. Getting used to the situation here's a big change.

... Anyway, I guess we should go find someone so we can check to see if your a Meister or a Weapon before we leave here.

[A big change, to say the least. Shinji felt like he still had to get used to dealing with people again, and being pulled into a situation like this wasn't exactly helpful.]

You think there's someone around that could do that?

Yep!

Or at least there's someone who knows how to use the machines to show it instead. Either way, we should be able to have that figured out for you in no time.

Might as well, I guess. [It wasn't really as if he had anything else he needed to do. At least, he was pretty sure he didn't.]

[And with that, she's going to head in a different direction, where she's pretty sure where someone who has either Soul Perception or knows how to use the machines are.]

[Chika's enthusiasm still managed to catch Shinji off guard, even with how cheery she'd been earlier. He probably simply wasn't used to someone being constantly in such high spirits, he figured.

He followed her at a few paces back, quietly stealing glances at anything that looked interesting.]
