Intro Log!
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: February 11 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
The city was in good shape today, despite the recent attack to it and the unfortunate earthquake a month back. The damages to the city had been repaired best as they could, and everything else was covered in a healthy heap of decor for the upcoming Valentine’s Day.
Things were a bit somber, as was expected after so many of the residents lost their loved ones. Fortunately, if there was something Death City was good at, it was getting back on its feet after a fall.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.]

He clung on as best he could and hoped he would not slide off.

That's right; they would be there shortly. Amaterasu made sure to take it quickly, but easy enough that Bakura could keep up and the man shouldn't fall off.

A few seconds passed before he forced them open. His consciousness was waning. Fearing he would not wake up again if he fell unconscious, Hughes tried his best to stay awake.

"Aa-- if you're all right to talk, maybe, while we're heading over, since you didn't get to really get the proper welcome, I can try and answer any questions about this place," he offered.

Put that way, it sounded almost like the plot to a RPG... but considering how enamored with games of that sort Bakura was, it wasn't too surprising that that was how the explanation came out.

Another war. Hughes sighed faintly and furrowed his brows. Was he here to fight in another war? He felt uneasy. It was either because his instincts were telling him something bad would happen or because he was nauseous from the blood loss. Silently, he hoped to whatever higher being was out there that it was just the latter. "Witches... I'm assuming they're the evil side? What do you mean by 'we come in to help'?"
It sounded a bit like a children's story book he had read to his daughter before, about a hero from another world saving the world from a devastating war. Hughes was not sure if he was liking where this was going. Regardless, there was not much he could do about it—especially in his current state.

He was not really clear on what the young man meant by weapons or meisters, but it seemed that his two companions were from other places too. "I don't suppose they were," he chuckled softly. "You two aren't...from around here either then? Usually that's the case though— In war— The natives are the first to..." Hughes trailed off, trying to think of the best way to phrase it. His mind was fairly jumbled from the loss of blood though. "Anyhow, what exactly is the war over?"

"10 years behind? You mean the technology?" That's right: there had been someone talking about communicators or something earlier. He wondered what that was about, but he would probably have to ask later. "Madness, huh... Sounds a little familiar..." he commented wryly. "There's always someone that has to try."
Hughes sighed and adjusted his hold around the canine. Though he was half out of his wit, he was enjoying the conversation. He liked talking after all. It was distracting him from the pain and helping him stay conscious too. It even made him feel a bit more energetic. Their group of three probably looked quite strange though... After all, he was basically sprawled on a large animal's back, and a young man was helping make sure he did not fall off. He laughed a little at the image that came to mind. "Sorry. I didn't introduce myself earlier," he started again fairly jovially. "I'm Hughes. Maes Hughes."
no subject
He'd introduce the wolf too, but he hadn't actually met her before to know how to....

The image is stuck in my head...
Their ragtag group had finally arrived. Hughes sighed in relief, grateful for the aid he had received. "I'm sorry for borrowing your back like this. I'm probably pretty heavy," Hughes commented as he reached up to scratch the canine behind the ears. "I don't suppose you can tell me your name though," he joked.
Hughes felt more awake now that he had cheered up—most likely due to the natural adrenaline that came with having positive feelings. The other two probably could not understand how appreciative he actually was for their help and distraction. What had happened before he had arrived... It was not something he needed to think about if he was going to try and recover. Unsure of what to do next though, Hughes asked, "So...what now?"
*quietly goes eee over that*
*joins*
My name is Amaterasu, but call me Ammy for short. The doctors will see your wound and give you any other necessary treatment. They might give you a transfusion too.
Her tail swished and she looked up at Bakura. Don't worry. I'll see his communicator is delivered.
♥♥♥
He was greatly surprised when the canine took out a piece of reflective glass—a mirror—and started pushing at it. What. The.
Hughes squinted a little to make out the message that appeared. "Ammy," he repeated back. "That's a cute name." Fitting for a cute animal that looked adorable when typing on some strange object. He fought the urge to smile, but he was grinning broadly before he realized it. He wanted a camera. He needed a camera. Oh, what he would do to have a camera right now.
... He cleared his throat and scratched behind Ammy's ears again. "Yeah, I could use a transfusion," Hughes chuckled evasively. The lack of blood was disorienting his priorities, he decided.
Glancing at the second message, he finally made sense of the device. The mirror was some type of communicator. That was...different. But it made sense, given what Ammy had just been doing.

Oh yes. I've never heard of a 'cell phone', but these are very easy to use. They also transmit 'video' and 'audio' for other people to see and hear.

When Ammy started typing again, Hughes watched and tried not to get giddy. Reading the text, he nodded in comprehension. "So...basically it's what it's called: a communicator. How do you send stuff though?" Considering that Bakura had said "phone", he figured it could be some sort of special telephone. But these were not connected to any sort of hub box like the telephones he knew, and they basically looked like slates of mirror.
"Vi..deo?" he sounded out. What the hell was that?
