Intro Log!

Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: February 11 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!

The city was in good shape today, despite the recent attack to it and the unfortunate earthquake a month back. The damages to the city had been repaired best as they could, and everything else was covered in a healthy heap of decor for the upcoming Valentine’s Day.

Things were a bit somber, as was expected after so many of the residents lost their loved ones. Fortunately, if there was something Death City was good at, it was getting back on its feet after a fall.

[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.]

Here, have a thirteen year-old.

"You're allowed to talk," Dave said as he approached the other. His hands were shoved into his pockets, the nonchalant expression in place. "Welcome to Death City. I will be your wonderful tour guide up until you leave this place. Please keep your hands and feet inside at all times to avoid injury. Now that I've covered that, you have any questions?"

Amaterasu gave a affirmative bark. Yes, they weren't necessarily careful when it came to BREW, but they are in trouble here.
nolicenseyet: (how unexpected)

"People sometimes don't remember being here when they go back." From the way she said it, you'd think something like that could be considered normal Then again, Eve has a very strange definition of what is and isn't normal...
pishirogane: (Perhaps you could explain)

[personal profile] pishirogane 2012-04-26 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well then well-dressed gentleman, there is a well-dressed detective who appears to be standing to the side while other volunteers are holding their own conversations. They might be able to fill you in on some more details.]
braidedwonder: (i will never forget)

[personal profile] braidedwonder 2012-04-26 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)

"Oh, that?" He pulls out his own to take a good look at it, as if surprised that's all that they'd really need for a free meal. Admittedly, he doesn't mind an excuse for free food, considering, and will probably take advantage of it just as soon as he's out of this whole little tour set-up.

"Well that's pretty handy - " And reduced his feeling that he was going to have to learn to be a pro at shop-lifting again. "Thanks! I think I'm gonna go cash in on that, actually.."
braidedwonder: (no matter how many deaths I die)

[personal profile] braidedwonder 2012-04-26 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)

"That's awesome! Thanks for the info." He grins, honestly pretty happy to hear there were sports fields and things where he could get rid of some of this energy. Otherwise he'd be up all day and all night most days and that just... well. That wouldn't be healthy for him or anyone near where he was living, either, since when the Deathscythe pilot got bored he did many the ridiculous and sometimes stupid thing to keep his mind busy.

Like that one time he took apart Quatre's refrigerator just because.

"Man, I could use one of those right about now... Anywhere in particular you'd recommend?"
braidedwonder: (i will never regret)

[personal profile] braidedwonder 2012-04-26 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)

"Why that early? That's like, when I would leave to go on missions.. Those times shouldn't even exist.." Siiiigh. His life was just perpetual lack of sleep and suffering, didn't you know that, Kanji? But he supposes if that's what he has to do in order to figure all of this out that's what he'll have to do, isn't it? After all, he's done more strange things in the name of getting things done one way or another.

"That is the worst joke ever unless you're a cat.."
touma_h_norstein: (explaining)

[personal profile] touma_h_norstein 2012-04-26 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Touma responded quickly, his expression unchanging.

"I'm alright for now," was all he said.
homophones: (frightening smaller person)

HAHA runtybutt could be his name for all Yosuke knows

[personal profile] homophones 2012-04-26 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yosuke left the squalling alien behind without a second thought, stepping slow at first. It couldn't really be Kanji, could it? There was no way. If Kanji was here, he would've arrived with the rest of him.

But there was no mistaking it. Yosuke's steps sped up in time with his realization settling in. That was him. That was Kanji. ...And he was ignoring him.

"DUDE!" Yosuke yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth unecessarily once they were even closer. "Dude, what are you doing!?"

Oh. A stubborn one. That's cool.

"Really? You just here for sightseeing then? Not interested in knowing about the crazy bullshit you're suddenly involved in? Cause you aren't exactly gonna ollie outtie this place anytime soon," Dave replies, focusing his attention on the other now.
touma_h_norstein: (ponderous)

[personal profile] touma_h_norstein 2012-04-26 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course I'm interested," Touma said. "But for right now, I'd rather observe."

Assigned, just like every other sucker you see answering questions and running tours and working machines. It finally got to the point where the natives couldn't handle the enormous pulsating backlog of new people, I guess. I think it's because BREW drags fresh trolls in here almost all the time now, so they figure putting the leader up front lessens the blunt force culture shock.

The enthusiasm is working, and Mitsuba is grateful that he isn't making a strong point on remaining glum and serious about her health situation. She finds herself nodding to his words, as if suddenly realising the urgency of getting this quickly out of the way and worries settled. There were many stories Sougo was promising her as it was; she would love to be up to date with--surely a lot can happen in three months, and if it's her brother, then--

...then--

Wait. Just hold on one second.

A girl?

A GIRL?

Mitsuba's eyes widen in surprise, and she is staring at her brother in disbelief. On one part, yes, Sougo is quite a handsome boy, but Mitsuba would never have thought-- a boy so stubborn and-- really?

"A girl, Sou-chan?"

There's no way she is going to let Sougo get away with not telling her all about this girl!

"What is she like? Oh, I would really like to meet her!"
yoichi: (maybe she's born with it)

[personal profile] yoichi 2012-04-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Whoa, what. Yoichi is used to elves and dwarves, but he's never seen a wolf like this one. He leans down to read the sign, and then stares at her for a few seconds. He might as well... ]

What can you tell me about this, ah, Horrorspital?
motherofthesun: (Beneath the Cherry Tree)

[personal profile] motherofthesun 2012-04-26 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods and her tail flops to the other side]

The Horrorspital is a clinic for both Guests and Residents even if it's run the by Guests. It has grown since its establishment and is the first place to receive emergency patients, usually Guests who have been injured on Missions. Some people may dislike clinics when they must be confined there due to their treatment, but we'll make sure you're taken care of during your stay.

Hughes hummed in thought. So the idea was that they were supposed to fight and protect...where ever this was. Death City was it? Or was it Nevada?

He was not really clear on what the young man meant by weapons or meisters, but it seemed that his two companions were from other places too. "I don't suppose they were," he chuckled softly. "You two aren't...from around here either then? Usually that's the case though— In war— The natives are the first to..." Hughes trailed off, trying to think of the best way to phrase it. His mind was fairly jumbled from the loss of blood though. "Anyhow, what exactly is the war over?"
shiromadoushi: (Small smile)

[personal profile] shiromadoushi 2012-04-26 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Bakura nodded at the first question. "Not even this country, or the world," he agreed with a bit of a smile. "I lived in and around Tokyo my entire life before here, and my world's even around 10 years behind where this one is. And I don't think it's so much over anything, just that the witches want to spread madness and I think wipe out everyone and it's not something that anyone wants to let happen."

"He is." Her smile warmed him even as it warmed his face. Neji would soon have someone else to help encourage him and lift him up.

At the question Gai nodded. "I do not know. BREW can pull from different times just as it can worlds. There is also Uchiha Obito, who died... around the time you were born, I would say. But he is not like Itachi, and there is nothing to fear from Obito. May I ask what the last thing you remember from home is? Where we all are? I was with Naruto and Killerbee, on a mission. But others who have arrived are from later times."

"At home everyone but police and military are civilians, and if you're under 18 you can't be either of those. So I've never really thought of myself as a 'civilian' just 'a student,'" Clare was beginning to wonder how large this social gap was, between people from worlds without war and worlds where kids were trained to fight armies. It wasn't exactly like speaking a different language, but it was close.

"Pretty much how technology marches forward. Keep trying to combine devices to the point where it's all one single device, and eventually that device is actually affordable," Which wasn't an issue here, but Clare waited a lot longer than her friends to end up with a smartphone. Also after what her sister did, and what happened to her... but that was just her parents being overprotective.

Clare didn't make eye contact for a little while, part of her wanted to explain. But... her fear stayed her voice. When she did speak, she was cold and distant, reciting facts she wished were far from reality, "We're at war. Shinbusen is leading the effort against the Witches and the Kishin. As such the city falling would be a huge win for them. Safety in this city is a pleasant lie. Not every guest BREW summoned is stable, either."

Clare clutched at her arm with the last words, even if it was gone while she home... the scar returned when she returned to the city. She kept it hidden under sleeves and gloves most days, her own personal reminder this city isn't safe.

[ After the tour and finishing up her turn at the soul perception line, Sophie went roaming about the city on her own, searching for a familiar face. Sophie left her communicator alone ever since she received it. It looked like an ordinary mirror to her. Nothing like the Amarcian technology from Ephinea. She usually relied on Pascal with all the tech stuff.

Spotting a stranger with the same-looking mirror, she walks up behind him, tilting her head curiously as she watches him operate the mirror. Is that how it's supposed to work? Tapping on it? Mimicking him, she pulls out her own communicator, taps on it, and comes up with the main screen. ]

Oooh... there's a lot of little letters and pictures on here. But what do they all mean?

Aqua seemed to be getting asked about these things a lot this time. She made a mental note to read up more on the technology.

"I just know the machine works like a normal X-ray machine except the read out also shows the person's soul." For now she could only smile at the person apologetically, "I'm afraid I don't know a lot about these machines or how they work."

Ammy's never even heard of Tokyo. Then again, she doesn't know what humans usually name their cities. She'd type out where she lived later, but right now, she can see the clinic.

Chika shook her head. "Nope! I think he was still in the middle of the fight against Kurata where he was pulled from."

She blinked, as if something just came to her. "Hey, umm, Touma-kun? What's the last thing you remember?"

Gai was rather good at being up front and honest, except when ordered not to. As he was in the Kishin chamber to inform and assist, he got to speak freely.

He nodded in answer to the first question. "It has no reason to think differently, because machines do math and more numbers..." Gai shrugged, letting the sentence finish itself. "I do not know what traditional witches are. We do not have any in my world. But they use black blood so it could be black magic? I think to find out more of what they use you would have to speak to someone from Shibusen. I am sorry. Is there something else I could answer?"

Hughes had never heard of Tokyo either, though at this point, his lack of knowing locations seemed trivial. He was clearly in another world that was very different from his own.

"10 years behind? You mean the technology?" That's right: there had been someone talking about communicators or something earlier. He wondered what that was about, but he would probably have to ask later. "Madness, huh... Sounds a little familiar..." he commented wryly. "There's always someone that has to try."

Hughes sighed and adjusted his hold around the canine. Though he was half out of his wit, he was enjoying the conversation. He liked talking after all. It was distracting him from the pain and helping him stay conscious too. It even made him feel a bit more energetic. Their group of three probably looked quite strange though... After all, he was basically sprawled on a large animal's back, and a young man was helping make sure he did not fall off. He laughed a little at the image that came to mind. "Sorry. I didn't introduce myself earlier," he started again fairly jovially. "I'm Hughes. Maes Hughes."
