Characters: Mello, Near, and YOU!
Location: The Clinic
Rating: PG-13 at the very least
Time: April 5th, after the mission - April 8th
Description: The mission wasn't gentle to these two, and as a result, we have Mello in pretty bad shape at the clinic, with his Weapon hovering by and looking rather terrible, as well. Naturally, this means your character should come over andmother and fuss over bother them.
[Pretty much what it says on the tin!
Because of his injuries, Mello is going to have a couple of tubes draining blood from his thorax for the first couple of days, and he will be adequately drugged, so he may be too out of it from time to time. On top of that, the poor guy has a broken collarbone and a few broken ribs, so it wouldn't be a very good idea to poke him just to see if he's awake. That oxygen mask won't make communication any easier, either.
On the other hand, Near has a cut on his lip, and a few bruises on his face, forearms and hands-- but you really can't see his fingers or his palms, because they just so happen to be bandaged. His right shoulder has been bandaged, as well, which is also visible because his shirt (and skin) was ripped by the talons of a particularly vicious bird familiar. Ouch. Someone should bring him a change of clothes: all that dried blood makes everything look a lot worse than what it is.
Feel free to have your character approach one or both of them! Near will be either sitting by Mello's bed or hovering by, but if you want your character to have some time alone with Mello, just pretend Near went to the bathroom / went to get some food. Likewise, if your character just wants to talk to Near, just consider Mello's too drugged or knocked out to be conscious, or pull him aside. Just leave us a note somewhere in your tag so we'll know who you want!]

Contrary to Mello, he doesn’t think it’s a good thing that Yamazaki feels this way towards the blond, despite the loyalty that it could bring: romantic emotions are illogical and thus the thought processes of someone under their influence cannot be predicted or expected. To make it even worse, such feelings can lead to irrational behaviors or attitudes which someone wouldn’t have if not under the influence of said emotions, turning whoever feels them into a wild card.
He doesn’t answer Mello’s question, either, focusing solely on the stranger in the room. Yes, he is willing to socialize just to manipulate the situation at hand, but is it really socializing if you’re toying with someone and testing them?
He blinks at Yamazaki’s reply, not exactly expecting it but no less amused because of that. He represses his amusement for the sake of his own plan, but he is unable to stop his frame from shaking slightly for a second; for anyone else, that would have been outright laughter.
Right, time to get his composure back in place once again. Near raises an eyebrow at Yamazaki and continues speaking as if nothing happened, his voice as neutral as usual.]
Oh no, you’ve caught me. The extensive use of powerful aphrodisiacs is exactly what put my Meister in such a state.
[The word choice is quite deliberate, of course: he isn't sure if Yamazaki knows he and Mello are partners, so he decides to enlighten him on that matter.]

[Yamazaki takes seriously what Near just said. Now he thinks that Near put something into Mello's food and that's why the blond prince is in a state like this. Most possibly Near is the mastermind behind Mello being blind when it comes to Yamazaki's emotions, too! The little, impish warlock must have place a spell on Mello, that's why he's unable to notice anyone else's feelings! No he doesn't have the time to deal with the shocking discovery according which he falls for Mello. He must beat the warlock first! And if Yamazaki learned anything in his homeland it was how to act unexpectedly and break minds by using this awesome skill!]
Yes, I knew you're the one behind all of his odd behavior and inability of accepting positive feelings. Let me see if you can cast those evil spells of yours on me, too!
[Yamazaki steps to Near and before the little imp could do anything he leans to him and kisses the guy. It's kind of sad that his (not so) very first kiss goes to such an unworthy man, but it can't be helped anymore. He steps back and nods.]
Just as I though. Your evilness doesn't work on me. [He reaches his hand to poke Near's chest] You are raw fish while he [and he points at Mello] is chocolate with chili. Got it?

He manages to push the mask out of the way, and the laughter quickly turns to wheezing and then coughing.]
Hey-- [he gasps out.] That's not--
[Hell. He shoves the mask back into place and reaches for the notepad.]
It's not even sort of in the same universe as like that
We're
[And he stops writing. The truth's somewhere between 'partners' and 'a couple,' but Mello's not defining it for the first time, in writing no less, in front of Near.]
partners
[he finishes the second line, and if that's taking the easy way out, he doesn't think anyone can blame him for it.]

After he takes care of this little situation, that is. What the hell is it with people who are attracted to Mello ending up kissing his partner? Near slaps Yamazaki’s hand away before replying in a very annoyed tone of voice.]
And you possess the intellectual abilities of a potted plant, given your inability to understand sarcasm or even read basic body language.
[Childish? Maybe, but it is the truth, so no one can blame him for that. He just needs to show his superiority one more time--
Do you even know the physiological response to common aphrodisiacs, or how they affect the human system when used thoroughly and throughout long periods of time?
[--so he can finally direct his annoyance at Mello. The glare he gives to his Meister makes it very clear that he really shouldn’t have laughed. We’ll talk about this later, he wishes he could say right now, but hopes that his look will convey the message well enough.
And what the hell is that supposed to mean, "We're partners"? They haven't defined anything, certainly, but they might as well come up with something right now, for the purpose of showing Yamazaki what's at stake, and why he ought to leave Mello alone. Is the blond really going to leave it at that? Near's eyes narrow even more. You wouldn't be saying we're partners if our situations had been reversed, you hypocrite.]
Near, Mello is laughing at us...
Potted plant? No, actually I'm a potato. And I know nothing of aphrodisiacs, I don't need them, unlike you, Partner-san.
[And now he seriously wants to leave the room before he'd start to laugh together with Mello which would be awful for some reason. But. He still has something to tell.]
Don't worry, Partner-san. Maybe I don't undrstand sarcasm or sanskrit or what, but I understand what are you trying to say. I won't let Mello-san close to me ever again.

Look he's just a jealous twit sometimes
You don't have to go away forever
Who even does that?
[Mello quickly scribbles, and shows it to Zaki.
He's really not equipped to deal with this sort of thing, and can't decide if he's horrified, if he's amused, or if he feels sorry for the kid.
(That comment about raw fish versus chocolate with chili was pretty funny, he has to admit. But. Potato?)
As far as that glare Near shoots at him, that's definitely amusing, even if it means Mello hasn't heard the end of this.]
I promise I'm not under the influence of any drugs
Except the damn painkillers here
[He gives Near another look, still trying not to laugh at how outraged he is, subtly but perfectly obviously to Mello. This look means fine, we'll talk later, but seriously, lay off the guy, you've made your point.]
